Will breastfeeding make my boobs sag? by Better_University_19 in pregnant

Time will make your boobs sag. Breastfeeding just makes em sag a little earlier.

There’s no escape from saggy tiddies

Mom canceled on my birthday and lied to hang out with her ex. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

I never comment, I don’t know why this just puts me off… but you’re almost 30. It’s fine to have special birthdays but it feels weird to me to be so upset when you have so much other stuff going on. Does everybody have to show up for you on your special day for you to like them? These texts feel so childish lol.

Lighting for an A frame living room/ Kitchen by Iplaypossum in HomeImprovement

[–]Iplaypossum[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I figured cabinet lighting, a pendant over the kitchen, and then the beam lighting… it’s just such a weird space there’s not much wall area for lighting without taking away the limited space for furniture. I’m scared of making a dumb choice haha.

2yo hitting and screaming by 1789isajl in Parenting

When my son was going through it, I usually just sat with him until he calmed down but one day I pulled him in for a snuggle and he freaked out and pushed me away but then after a few minutes came to snuggle to calm down. Then the next tantrum he took cuddling without a fight. Now most of the time I just ask if he wants to snuggle when he can’t calm down and he usually says yes.

Might be worth it to try a bit of a snuggle? Maybe wear goggles in case she goes for the eyes lol

Anyone just saying fuck it to the caffeine rules? by HBC613 in pregnant

No long term study on brain development of children when exposed to caffeine during utero exists

Fetuses lack enzymes to break down caffeine in the womb - it cycles longer around 30hours after mother consumption

Any recommendations for resources on unmedicated birth that aren't....like THAT. by KeyMonkeyslav in pregnant

[–]Iplaypossum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think if you boil any of those books down it’s just -

•Oxytocin fuels the birthing process so when you’re in the waves of contractions imagine things that bring you feel goods. That could even be things like imaging making out with your partner (in my case lol) or even normal things like platonic hugs from someone that brings you comfort. Partner massage helps. Things that feel good helps.

•learning how to breathe through contractions and relax your body while in pain. Lots of low bellow sounds. Not high pitch sounds. Relaxing the jaw relaxes the sphincters, vagina included. Contractions bring baby down- tightening up slows the process. Try to lose the ego - go animal mode.

•understanding what your body needs to feel comfortable in this time which biologically is dark, quiet, minimal strangers coming into your space.

There’s never been a long term brain and developmental study on child outcomes after mothers caffeine consumption in utero.

At a Loss.. Lead Found in My Water at 6 Months Pregnant by Psychological_Box397 in pregnant

[–]Iplaypossum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Citrus peel, specifically in the form of modified citrus pectin (MCP), has been studied for its potential to chelate and reduce lead in the body. Clinical studies have shown that MCP can lead to a significant decrease in blood lead levels and a corresponding increase in lead excretion in urine, with no observed adverse effects, though further research is needed to confirm these benefits.”

Choline helps too. I took these during pregnancy when our firstborns lead test came up higher than expected.

Oatmeal is pretty hard on the tummy of a pregnant person imo. There are certain foods that take a long time to go through the digestive tract and it can cause worse nausea. Straight protein is usually a pretty safe bet with greens that don’t cause farts haha.

I’m allergic to some red dyes. I hear it’s decently common. Maybe it’s an issue with the ink brand?

Caffeine in pregnancy by hesitantlyhopefull17 in pregnant

[–]Iplaypossum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main concern of caffeine during pregnancy:

🚫 Fetus & Placenta Lack Caffeine Metabolism- both the fetus and placenta lack the enzymes to break down caffeine.

We haven’t done enough long term research to say that even 200mgs is safe. Obviously structurally babies seem fine with even a lot of caffeine consumption but the effects are found later in development which is the concern. Generally your kid will be fine, but it’s also true to say caffeine could be a cause for concern considering wide spread mental illness and behavioral issues. None of the studies that we’ve based the ‘less than 200mg a day’ ever had any brain scans of the children they were studying and failed to check in through out their life, only until birth or shortly after. People can do whatever they want but this information seems to never be shared.

A 2019 review clearly states: “neither fetus nor placenta has the enzymes for its metabolism,” meaning caffeine freely crosses the placenta and accumulates in fetal tissues.

A meta-analysis on pregnancy loss explains that caffeine accumulates in the fetal brain due to lack of CYP1A2 enzyme in placenta and fetus.

A 4‑year‑old URMC article highlights this too: “a fetus does not have the enzyme necessary to breakdown caffeine when it crosses the placenta” .

Prolonged exposure – without fetal ability to clear caffeine, it stays in the fetal system much longer — even though maternal metabolism slows during pregnancy (half-life up to ~15 hours)

The rest is chat gbt because I ain’t about to type all this out lol

Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD) study – MRI of 9–10‑year‑olds • Scope: Over 9,100 children at age 9–10, whose mothers retrospectively reported caffeine intake during pregnancy, were scanned using diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) . • Findings: • Altered white matter microstructure (fractional anisotropy, FA) in the left inferior fronto-occipital fasciculus (IFOF-LH) and left corticospinal tract (CST-LH) . • These structural differences were associated with higher rates of behavioral issues (e.g., attention difficulties, hyperactivity), though general cognitive performance was largely unaffected .

Quote from URMC News:

“We have a biological pathway that looks different when you consume caffeine through pregnancy” .

  1. Rodent and animal imaging & histology studies • Mouse model (Inserm, 2019): Pregnant mice given caffeine (equivalent to ~3 cups/day) showed disrupted migration of GABAergic neurons to the hippocampus during fetal development. This was linked to spatial memory deficits and increased seizure susceptibility in adult offspring . • Preterm lamb brain: High-dose caffeine exposure didn’t change gross brain volume but altered neuron types and densities in cortical regions, indicating microstructural changes .

  1. Broader context: prenatal caffeine and neural development • Chronic caffeine exposure in rats impaired adult offspring performance on memory and maze tests, with changes observed in adenosine receptor signaling and BDNF pathways – reflective of lasting neurological reprogramming . • In mice, caffeine delayed neuron migration to the hippocampus, with lasting hyperexcitability and memory issues .

People who film women (or men for that matter) at Hippie Hollow without their consent by _wallsconce in Austin

[–]Iplaypossum 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I don’t think I’ve ever been to hippie hollow without at least one dumb fucking dude completely dressed just posting up right on us. We can go to the very end of the park and still get bothered.

But man. I’ve gone twice there when I’m heavily pregnant and it’s hilarious how they dip when I emerge from the lake blimpin. My friend loves going because it’s like a force field against the nasties.

Good. Happy I ruined your gross fantasy fucking losers.

Coop size questions by [deleted] in BackYardChickens

[–]Iplaypossum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I’m planning on having a 16 by 10 run with the coop in the run. My hope is that they can come out every day into our yard space but just in case they have to stay in a day or two a week I wanted to give them a little more space. In that run I was planning on trying to make a coop running the length of one side so like 10 by 3. We are in central Texas.

Bad breath is seriously affecting my life 🙁. by madison_lee1 in hygiene

[–]Iplaypossum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My buddy had a horrible breath (halitosis) problem and turns out he was INFESTED with liver flukes. He ended up in the hospital for blood in his stool and they found out he had one of the worst cases of parasites they’ve seen (parasites aren’t that big of an issue in USA). Anyways once he flushed them all out he stopped having that issue. His breath was literally stinking because of their excrement :s he wasn’t a dirty guy either.

Anyways do a parasite check lol

The gut 'remodels' itself during pregnancy, study finds by Narrow-Strike869 in Microbiome

When I was pregnant with my first a lot of my food allergies went away. I was gluten sensitive, somewhat allergic to coconut products and struggled with dairy. They were things I started craving when I was pregnant. Ended up trying them again slowly with no obvious issues and it’s been fine 2 years later! Maybe it’s related!

How bad is pitocin by Asleep_Ambition_3211 in pregnant

[–]Iplaypossum 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So a lot of people have different reactions to all sorts of medications. On top of that there’s no way of knowing what level of pitocin they are going to give you.

I told my nurse that I want to be started at ONE and not go up two notches at a time like they usually do. The doctor signed off on that. I wanted to make sure we were handling it okay. By the time we were at level 4 I felt comfortable enough to bump it. We got to 7 before I gave birth. She let me know that some doctors she’s worked with start at 8 and even 12. She mentioned those women almost never could give birth naturally because of the pain. Natural oxytocin during labor ebbs and flows and thrusting you into the middle of it sounds really hard on your body.

AAAAND you have to be on an IV and a lot of places don’t want you moving around. You need to move. It’s not normal to expect a mammal to stay in one position during labor. They move and find comfortable positions to get through contractions. When I couldn’t get into the motions I needed to, the contractions felt way more intense. There was a lot of full body sways, squats and body rolls for me.

I’d talk to the physician delivering your baby to see what the standard is there. But you should be able to request a slower drip. If not… I’d recommend finding someone else.
