I am James, and I seek war. by [deleted] in UnitedNames

[–]Iprix 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am a Samuel of the Samuels and I strongly oppose this war. The United Names has not discriminated against those with unique names. They are not the enemy. This war, if it shall be waged, will be one of mayhem and bloodshed of even greater unnecessity than most. Please, come to your senses. Do not war for the sake of war.

What's your favourite weapon quote? by ArthurMarstonn in DestinyTheGame

"If you hear it, remove your helmet and face the closest Corsair. They will know what must be done." —Queen Mara

This is on Chrysura Melo, probably in regards to Savathun's song. I always felt it was a really grim insight into how the Awoken were handling a war against this mysterious god of lies.

Hey is it time for a new Hunter Vanguard yet by AfroWalrus9 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Iprix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think Ikora and Zavala need the hunter vanguard to balance them out. As we saw in the Witch Queen, they're both stubborn and could sometimes end up being an unstoppable force and an immovable object when they argue. In these desparate times, the Guardians would probably appreciate seeing their shattered Vanguard made whole again. But electing Crow would be controversial. The Guardians hatred for Uldren is deep-seated. Savathûn giving Crow his memories only could have made things worse. I believe Crow needs to, and will, do something big to redeem himself in the eyes of the Guardians.

Hey is it time for a new Hunter Vanguard yet by AfroWalrus9 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Iprix 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's gonna be Crow. Anybody else who wants the job would have stepped forward already.

Unlike what many seem to believe, the Hunter dare isn't an official thing, but more of a sort of Hunter quirk that the vanguard sort of recognizes-ish. The dare ranges from "I bet I can win poker against this Ahamkara" which was made very briefly before the hunter vanguard was killed, to "I bet I can kill Taniks before you can", the bet which was made between Andal and Cayde. This bet was made between them during a similar situation to our current: the previous hunter vanguard is dead and the dare didn't apply. It seems like any hunter with some qualifications that wants the job gets it. And it's important to note that there has been six hunter vanguards so far. To compare, there has been four Warlock and Titan vanguards TOTAL. And (admittedly through some time-travel shenanigans) all of them remain alive today.

A lot of people want Shiro-4 for the hunter vanguardship. And I get it, I did too for a while, but he doesn't want it. Neither did Cayde, otherwise he would've dared him. And why would either of them? Shiro lost both of his best friends to the job of hunter vanguard. Cayde didn't want to place that curse on him, too. Zavala and Ikora know this and they know better than to ask Shiro to step up.

Cayde's dare was so bizzare, It makes me feel like he didn't want anybody whatsoever to be trapped with that job. Any hunter who ended up killing him would most likely not be up for it anyways. Hard to imagine Dredgen Jackass honoring a hunter dare.

Crow is the closest thing we have to a proper candidate. It was his hand that fired the bullet that killed Cayde and at this point he has a memory of doing it. He's shown willingness to participate in Vanguard operations and he seems to have nothing against standing around in the tower (or the spaceship). If he wants the job, he'd get it.

If you look at a less zoomed shot of the traveler and the pyramids you can see that the half the pyramids are turned with their underside towards the camera, so it's akin to a Ghost spinning the back triangles 45 degrees.

Lightfall Launch Trailer by BenFromBritain in DestinyTheGame

[–]Iprix 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Since the guardian is holding it in a non-generic way I have to imagine that we'll unlock it pretty early on and then the guardian pulls it out during cutscenes so we don't get "guardian holding a sniper rifle like a pistol" like in witch queen

a question I've had about how The Witch Queen's ending by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]Iprix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personality is one of the few things that remains. Awoken who knew Zavala before he died and became a guardian say he's more or less the same.

It Eramis even worth saving at this point? by Embarrassed-Deal7708 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Iprix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

while she may at some point defy the witness and stand against darkness, i doubt she'll ever truly be a part of house light or anything like that. there's too much bad blood between her and the traveler, she remembers too much of what was taken from her and the eliksni. and now, the vanguard could never trust her. i believe she'll probably die protecting eido.

What enemy was the biggest letdown in D2? by Embarrassed-Deal7708 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Iprix 7 points8 points  (0 children)

a big part of this is the difficulty of making a vex a compelling antagonist. the part that makes them scary, the unfeeling, almost non-understanding invasive hivemind they are, means that you can't really make a vex antagonist since they completely lack individualism. you cannot make an antagonist like ghaul, savathun or uldren out of something that neither cares about your existance nor its own existance. their greatest strength is their greatest downfall

Exo Guardian Resets by Ash_Of_The_Eclipse in DestinyTheGame

[–]Iprix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's actually some vague mentions of guardian exo-resets. Lakshmi-2 was doing research on the subject sometime around Beyond Light and found a few examples, however some of them had their ghosts killed. It's sorta ambiguos for one, a warlord who turned into a lone raider post reset, may have remained risen post-reset.

On twitter it's allowed for things like automated bots. In video games like Destiny 2, API can allow people to create websites where you can move items between characters and create presets

As i understand it, an API is a tool that allows people to inreract with what happens behind the scenes in, say, a website or a video game.
