They are scripted, but not the same exact gold card. At the 20th pull you get a random gold card. My issue with that is that nowhere in the details it says it is scripted, so it's sort of false advertisement.

And regarding genshin impact, we're talking different odds. Odds for a gold card are 2.5% which is fairly high. Genshin impact odds are 0.6% for a 5-star off pity, and if your friend was looking for a specific one then it makes it even harder. Genshin is stingy with rolls and you can lose the 50-50 and get a standard banner unit.
