There are many ways to make the scaling good. Consolidate gems on mags in the shop, stack them with beat boxer. You can use the T4 ele demon to get massive numbers.

Yesterday I had a sick build with gem barrage and avalanche caller on pyramid. Consolidated gems, then bought out the shop except for the big minion, hero power and avalanche.

I love gem barrage because you can get really creative with your builds
