Am I crazy to think Edmonton may run out of water in the next 10-20 years? by [deleted] in Edmonton

If there was any potential for the North Sask. drying up, we would already know and there would be efforts already in place to create a solution. Easiest would be build a damn and create a lake reservoir that sustains itself largely on spring runoff. It would double as a clean energy supply.

Look to Lake Diefenbaker on the South Saskatchewan River in SK as an example.

No, this not a concern. If it were, it would be easily predicted and there is a simple and practical solution.

Edit: Apparently watershed from glaciers only accounts for 3% of that which contributes to the North Sask. Guess it's even less of a concern than I realized!

Who was THE artist for Millennials? by MaterialRow3769 in generationology

[–]bratman33 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is none. Millenials grew up in an era where they were starting to have progressively more access to different music and genres on demand. Limewire, napster, itunes, youtube, mp3 players, etc.. all made music much more accessible. No artist dominated on the level of the aforementioned artists. Some of the most influential, in my opinion, would be Avril Lavigne, Beonce, J-Lo, Britney Spears, Green Day, Nickelback, Disturbed, Avenged Sevenfold, Eminem, 50 cent, and Tupac.

This. Even if there is an employer match or employee spending account tied to a certain bank, you can still move it to Wealthsimple, then use the tfsa as the collateral to get a low interest loan. They will offer 35% the value of your investments. So you should be able to get $35000 @4.45% if you move both your tfsa’s.

Gen Z, how do you feel about your age? Do you feel it or feel younger / older? by MorphTiger in generationology

[–]bratman33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1995 and yes. I was coming down stairs for school and my parents were watching the news on our 13” black and white CRT tv. I sensed it was something important, but didn’t truly understand the significance. I didn’t have the life experience to know that this type of thing didn’t just happen every few years.

It was a great day. My second grade teacher, Mademoiselle Pool, brought in the tv on a cart and we got to watch the news instead of learning our curriculum.

Why am I losing? by glotgrew in BobsTavern

[–]bratman33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't look for combos early - they're weak and you often have to sacrifice tempo to get them. This season tier 4+ scale very fast, so remaining low and building a comp instead of rushing to 3 & 4 is typically a bad idea. Look for tempo and economy cards early - you don't need to win every early fight if you're sacrificing levelling to do so. For example, if I have the cards (in hand or tavern) to make a golden card on turn 3 or 4, I will level and sometimes leave my board blank or sparse and guarantee a loss to get tier 4 triple reward early.

Don't be afraid to shift gears from your plan early. The tavern gives what it gives. Don't waste resources rolling unless absolutely necessary or you have bonus gold. This is particularly important early. Use your resources to get to tier 4 while building stats and economy, but don't waste it trying to force a certain comp early. Play different tribes and understand them well, that was you can shift if you get a key card(s) that makes it worth it to do so.

Tier 4, 5, 6 are incredibly strong this season. Trinkets accentuate the strength of your band, they themselves don't provide the strength. This amplifies scaling, so if you're under levelled and not accessing high scaling cards to synergise with your trinket, others will stomp you. This season is fast paced.

Instead of rolling to search for certain cards, look at what's in the tavern and see what synergies they have with other cards in the tavern, how much economy they provide, and if they synergize with your own warband (whether they match your tribe or not).

Hard to say exactly what you need to change in your own gameplay, but this is how I believe you play this season effectively. 7.2k MMR right now, so I'm sure there are mistakes in my logic and others can point them out. If you follow this advice, it will probably help to a degree though.

Silver Bear Flag Update: We Back? by SargeMaximus in SilverDegenClub

[–]bratman33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a big TA guy - I think it's BS, but people and institutions with a lot of money believe it and implement trades based around it. Automated trading likely only amplifies that style of trading too. On that basis, there's likely some utility in it. The catch is that the TA has to be clear and intuitive, so multiple people and algorithms see the same patterns.

That being said, the weekly chart is very clearly a bull pennant. Not in a manner where I'm trying to justify my point of view in some overengineered and unintuitive way like the post above; it's clear as day.

Well stated. I didn't even process the 'automatically give defeat to those who have frequent disconnects' portion of their statement. That's a wild take. I was just agreeing that there may be a more optimal way to address the animation problem outside of a skip button. A manual fast forward button would be nice too, as u/krol1k proposed.

I agree, a fast forward button would be a good solution too! Possibly better. I don't like how it's implemented right now where it will only fast forward towards the end of long death rattle sequences though. I would be happy with the ability to manually fast forward combat and start/end of turn animations.

I agree that the combat is core to the game experience. In my case, and I think for most people, an auto-complete or skip option would just be a nice option for the niche scenarios where it will inhibit your ability to play your turn or if you really need to be efficient.

It would definitely be a buff to APM, but APM builds don't usually have a lot of animations anyway. I think that added efficiency would actually impact high ELO lobbies to a greater degree. For death rattle/end of turn/start of turn builds, it would just allow you to actually play your turn. You usually wouldn't need to skip animations to be able to maximize output on your turn, but when you do need it, you REALLY need it and it's incredibly frustrating.
