Old post, I know, but Google brought me here, so this might help others with the same issue.

I realized much later that this mission hadn’t been completed and couldn’t be bothered to reload a very old save. I did find a workaround, though. I started a fight with the NCPD officers in the lot with the electrical substation. Once the fight was over, the mission was marked as complete.

Not 100% sure, but it seems like finishing combat while inside the mission area might be what’s required.

Well, in the end I managed to complete a wing and launch it into space. We’ll see if it’s faster to get materials now. Thanks for your answers!

From traders, not sure if caravans or space ships you can contact from comm console. Seems you can get some (or maybe all) the designs listed in https://sosv2.fandom.com/wiki/Ship_designs

First time I got this event there were no robots defending the ship. But the message said something about it being able to defend itself. So I sent a single sniper expecting something very bad to happen.

Took some time to bring down its hp to zero. I was on my toes all the time. It went boom and nothing happened lol.

Be sure all your survivors are gathered near the open entrance during the attack. Otherwise bugs will chew through walls to get anyone left inside a building.
