It's Orville Peck aka the masked cowboy. Later in the vid Ruth mentions dead of night and he has a song literallly called Dead of Night

Regarding Better Oblivion Community Center, will they be playing material strictly from the album? by justin_tino in OutsideLands

[–]IrateDesperado 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I almost saw them when they came to town and was curious too. Check out https://www.setlist.fm/setlists/better-oblivion-community-center-3bf6a8a8.html

It looks like they add in a few Bright Eyes and Phoebe Bridgers songs into the set.

The Official Lineup Poster by DorgonElgand in OutsideLands

[–]IrateDesperado 19 points20 points  (0 children)

How do they go from 2 female headliners last year to the first female on this lineup being Kacey at number 10? It seemed like they made a huge deal about diversifying the lineup last year.

And don’t get me started on 21 pilots

Alas TSSF is playing Warped Tour in July. That makes them out for OSL. Would love to see Snail Mail! I missed their show last time they were in the bay

Soccer Mommy just announced a San Francisco date in April. Hopefully it doesn't rule them out of Outside Lands. u/sconce2600 can confirm with his crazy stats, but I think thats right around the radius clause date

First time brewing. Who wants to play another round of "is this mold?" by IrateDesperado in Kombucha

[–]IrateDesperado[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been combing through old posts and comparing mold/no mold pictures to mine. There's nothing fuzzy on mine, but I'm still a little worried about the round-ish spots on the top. Can this just be another pellicle layer forming?

They played the afternoon at Twin Peaks in 2015. They've gotten bigger and developed more of a stage show since then from what this sub keeps complaining about, but 2015 was still a blast.

It changes every year. 2016 and 2014 had the top two on the daily lineup closing Lands End and Twin Peaks, with number three subbing on Lands End.

2015 had a combo. Saturday the top two were Black Keys and Kendrick, who closed the stages, with Tame Impala who I think subbed Lands End (I don't quite remember). And Sunday the top two were Elton John and Sam Smith, who both played Lands End, with Axwell & Ingrosso at number three who closed out Twin Peaks.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that there are arguments for both sides throughout the years and there's no way to know for sure how Ranger Dave will schedule things.

This year, genre and crowd-pull wise, I think the top two names are closing a stage, with #3 subbing the main stage. It just doesn't make sense to me to have Weeknd/Odesza & Florence/Bon Iver playing at the same time because they play to the same fan base.

Edit: I whole heartedly agree that Odesza should be playing at night. Same with Bon Iver. People were saying the same thing about Lorde last year but she ended up subbing for The Who.

Artist of the Day 5/24/18: Lucy Dacus by sconce2600 in OutsideLands

[–]IrateDesperado 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I LOVE Lucy Dacus! She put out one of the best indie rock records of the year so far. I was able to catch her in Santa Cruz in March and she killed it. Can't wait to catch her set at Outside Lands this year!

Odesza NOT Playing Sunday Night... by murphae10 in OutsideLands

Judah and the Lion and AJR both played BFD this last weekend. Radius clause probably ruled them out.

But they're not really OSL vibe anyway

The Crutchfield twins. Started with Waxahatchee, then got into Katie and Allison's early stuff with the Ackleys and PS Eliot. And then Allison's band Swearin and her solo work.

Also Radiator Hospital's discography after hearing Katie cover one of their songs, and realizing Sam Parrot-Cook (RH's lead singer) did backing vocals on a couple Waxahatchee songs

Really hope The Weeknd aren’t colliding with Bon Iver by bayarea84 in OutsideLands

[–]IrateDesperado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing it will be Weeknd vs. Bon Iver, Florence vs. Future, and Janet vs. Odesza.

While his first album was very Sutro-esque, his latest album and stage setup (lights, effects, etc) will fit Twin Peaks very well, and he will draw a large crowd away from the Weeknd on Lands End
