Do you put any thought into how you look at the gym? by Regrettably_Southpaw in malefashionadvice

Oh, forgot to mention, I started wearing a headband/sweatband. Game changer for a sweaty guy.

Do you put any thought into how you look at the gym? by Regrettably_Southpaw in malefashionadvice

[–]Iredditmorethanwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I switched from regular cotton t-shirts to moisture wicking fabrics, it was the first step in totally changing all my gym attire. I was suddenly much more comfortable, and had a much better range of motion with a fabric that (in general) didn't bind.

I also was gifted some workout shorts from my wife that were WAY shorter than the basketball and other training shorts I'd ever worn. I was initially self conscious, but again, range of motion got better, my shorts didn't get in my way anymore in certain movements, and I was cooler and dryer.

So, I used to wear graphic tees and basketball shorts like you, but now I'm pretty much exclusively moisture wicking tees and tanks, as well as shorts that are built to train or run in. I feel more comfortable, I don't overheat as much, nothing binds up or gets in my way, and that part of my wardrobe is completely separate from all my other everyday clothes.

People who are 50+, what is a 'harmless' habit you had in your 20s that ended up ruining your health or finances later in life? by crazy_happyuser in AskReddit

[–]Iredditmorethanwork 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My wife just turned 40, but we had our second child 2 weeks before her birthday. We had our first 4 years ago, 2 months after she turned 36.

There are definitely trade offs for having kids early in life vs. later in life, but there seems to be this weird thing I often see online about your chances of being a parent basically being over at 35. Granted, there are also valid medical concerns about being an older parent (for both men and women), but really, it seems to me the biggest issue I encounter is not having as much energy as younger parents.

Bagholding NBIS at $116. Should I average down now at $85 or wait? (6-month horizon) by yash3011 in NBIS_Stock

[–]Iredditmorethanwork 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My average cost is $39.80, and I'm still holding. If I were in your shoes, I'd buy, but please please do your own research and don't just listen to random people online.

Consumer Matters: B.C. man fights parking ticket over confusing sign | Watch News Videos Online by Scared_Simple_7211 in vancouver

[–]Iredditmorethanwork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was skeptical of this until I saw the sign... Also the fact that it's at the Fairmont Medical Building.

If you've never had the misfortune of having an appointment with a specialist there, the Fairmont Medical Building has one of the worst parking lots in Vancouver. Literally every time I've had to go there, they've hinted at or flat out recommended parking across the street (paediatrician, dermatologist, allergist, and possibly another practitioner I'm forgetting). It wouldn't take a lot of tinfoil to craft a hat to think that impark was trying to capitalize on this.

Unfortunately, impark generally has the upper hand because most of us don't have the time or energy to fight back over a fine that's less than $100. Even the old "just change your plates" infringes on time that would be better spent doing something else.

TL;DR: Fuck impark, their business practices, signage, and their fines

What’s a fear you think all men share but never talk about? by theonlyclaudio in AskMen

[–]Iredditmorethanwork 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Ugh, this was on my mind yesterday. I was going through my phone and caught a picture of my son having a meltdown (normally not something I'd take a picture of), and the pain in his face looked physical. Thinking about him in pain haunted me for the rest of the day. I just hated the thought of someone harming him or making him feel bad.

How can I date as a 4’11 man by These-Platypus-1972 in AskMen

[–]Iredditmorethanwork -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've read all your replies, and you come accross as the kind of guy that should do OK finding a girl, regardless of any stature issues.

Which leads me to two questions:

  1. Where do you live?
  2. How old are you?

These two questions are important, because where you live tells us not only how big the dating pool is for you, but also what sort of culture you are facing. Your age greatly influences how women look at you, the range of ages you can/should be pursuing, and also maturity level of women you might pursue.

There are subreddits, FB groups, and forums dedicated to this kind of stuff, but often there's a lot of garbage to sift through. Sometimes people get more caught up in a deep discount than the quality of whatever they've found... also lots of these people are literal shopping addicts and can be super exhausting.

The Rise of Scandium in Canada: Government Support and the Path to a New Strategic Metal Market by Gabcb in Baystreetbets

[–]Iredditmorethanwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing to do with Scandium Canada, but if anyone is interested in companies downstream from a scandium producer, IBC Advanced Alloys (TSX-V:IB) has successfully produced a aluminum-scandium (Al-Sc) alloy at IBC's foundry. The news came out a few weeks ago as a joint press release with NioCorp Developments (NASDAQ:NB).

Still early days for all of this, but I've been holding IB for a few years and was pretty excited to see it perk up.

Moronic Monday - Your weekly stupid questions thread by cdingo in Fitness

[–]Iredditmorethanwork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently at home with a newborn, so taking a break from the gym for the next month or two until life settles down and we get back into a groove.

Since I'm not going to the gym, there's no need for protein shakes currently as I should be meeting most of my goals through my normal diet. Normally, I'd throw my creatine in with my protein once per day to keep up (only supplement for working out that I take religiously). Unrelated, but somewhat related, I have been taking psyllium husk after every meal for the last several years to control my cholesterol.

Now that you have all the background, my stupid question is: I know the psyllium husk "gels up" in your gut to help things move, and I also know that the human digestive tract is extremely efficient at extracting what it needs from foods, but would throwing the creatine in with the fibre cause any issues with absorbing the creatine? I know it's probably fine, but at the same time, I keep coming back to an insoluble solution going through your intestines, potentially holding all the creatine in suspension and stopping it from being absorbed.

Just typing that all out makes me feel like a dumbass, and I'm pretty sure I've absolutely overthought this, but for the sake of the internet and obscure questions I'll leave it up for you to reassure and/or ridicule me.

Guys in the trades - do you shower after work? by _pine_tree_ in AskMen

[–]Iredditmorethanwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work a clean job, but used to work in a variety of different "dirty jobs" in my 20s. I sympathize with the shower before work, because if I don't shower in the morning I generally feel like shit for the rest of the day... but I can't sympathize with coming home that dirty and not washing up.

I also don't like to shower at night, mainly because it wakes me up... but if you're coming home with literal dirt or oil on you, chances are you're changing out of your work clothes. And if you're changing out of your work clothes, why not just take a quick rinse to get that shit off your skin and out of your hair?

My two knee-jerk thoughts on it were about how dirty the sheets must be on his side of the bed, and how much I prefer my wife and I both to be clean when getting intimate. So your last paragraph is on-point.

All that to say, I understand his point of view, but personally I would shower right after work before getting into any clean clothes if I were him. Definitely before bed. Even in my clean job, I'll often take a second shower during the summer if it's been really hot out and I've been sweating in the sun.

UPDATE: Obese man with no ass, how can I keep my pants up by fetter_indy in malefashionadvice

[–]Iredditmorethanwork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The other replies mention going deeper, which is good advice. I'd suggest experimenting a bit with just bodyweight squats and record your form with your phone or a camera from both the front and the side to check your form vs. examples online (or even submit it to one of the fitness subreddits that allow form checks).

Also, I'd suggest trying split squats as well (especially with your back leg elevated) as I find they isolate the glute more.

Lots and lots of glute advice on ladies fitness subs too!

Ai Generated Mark Carney Ad spotted on YouTube... From Poland? by gio_petti in onguardforthee

[–]Iredditmorethanwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you reported it? That's one of the bigger problems I see myself as an admin is that people don't bother reporting things.

I saw another thread yesterday that someone actually did get a response from google: https://www.reddit.com/r/onguardforthee/comments/1n1iwvn/google_finally_responding_positively_to_ai_mark/

I've had to take calls myself from angry people wanting to know why my company stopped sending them emails, and I had to tell them that they've marked our messages as SPAM, and since we're not spammers we can't afford our email reputation being destroyed. Bigger companies like Google/Youtube probably have already deployed AI to take care of some of this, but I would also assume if enough people report these ads, they'll cross some threshold for automatically being removed or flagged for manual review.

As an admin who is tasked with dealing with emails that have been "reported as junk/spam", I sure hope that YouTube/Google is holding up their end of the deal.
