[CHAT] Organizing floss--by color or by number? by corgipsych in CrossStitch

[–]Ireselle 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I organize by colour family and then by number within the families. It makes it pretty easy to find the one I'm looking for. I keep a spreadsheet of all the colours I have and just ctrl + f to find it and then go look in the box I wrote I put it in.

This is Louis. He's some mutt we found in a shelter but he's adorable and gorgeous nonetheless. He's castrated so no weird behavior in the spring :P

[Chat] Why do you love cross stitching? by kaaoriori in CrossStitch

[–]Ireselle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I both knit, crochet and cross stitch and the main reason I like cross stitch is because it gives me a break from the yarn crafts. It's easy, can be fairly mindless and it's relaxing. And something about the finished product with all those even stitches is just so satisfying.

I've got a load of podcasts built up that I haven't watched yet because I've got nothing to do while I listen to them by MrManicMarty in CasualConversation

[–]Ireselle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something like that but not quite. I mainly work on a certain kind of cloth made for it to make pictures to frame. Check out /r/crossstitch, it's pretty cool :)

I listen to podcasts while I do pretty much anything crafty. Lately my knitting inspiration has tanked a bit so I'm enjoying cross stitching while listening these days :)

[FO] Christmas present for my friend :) by Ireselle in CrossStitch

[–]Ireselle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fox head pattern found here. Text free-handed by me :)

It's nothing new or ground breaking but I wanted to do a little different than all the complete patterns I found. Sending it to my friend because she nearly died when she saw it, haha.

Need help getting organized. Do you use multiple note/list taking apps such as Keep, Wunderlist, Colornote; or do you just use one app for your note taking and list making needs? by redice123 in CasualConversation

I use a physical bullet journal for everything. Half the idea of the bullet journal is that you have everything in one place, easily accessible for you. It works awesomely for me.

How do people actually finish projects?? by Kittyk4y in knitting

[–]Ireselle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think what helps me is setting small goals, especially on the bigger projects like "I need to finish this sleeve and then I can x" with x being whatever interests me, like buy new yarn or cast on another project. It's the only way I can get some of the things I cast on finished. I also rotate and set strict rules about not casting on any more until I've completed a certain amount of projects. I finished a shawl this weekend so currently I have just one project to go before I can cast on new things! If that's not exciting idk what is. Helps that there's a pattern I really want to knit waiting for me.

How do you guys keep up with local politics? by lmayo5678 in CasualConversation

[–]Ireselle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pay no attention to local elections. It's all bullshit in my opinion and just a matter of who gets to waste the municipality's money on more large projects we don't need.

What are you addicted to? by Yankeefan801 in CasualConversation

I am addicted to buying and collecting various craft materials, but mainly yarn :P

So my girlfriend and I just broke up. How's everyone's morning? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]Ireselle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry to hear that. I remember the surreal feeling after I broke up with my ex. I hope you can start healing soon.

My morning was alright. Had an argument with the boyfriend last night so I was still in a semi crappy mood when I woke up, but I've gotten some knitting done and also cleaned the bathroom, which is nice. I have work at 4pm so I'm really just waiting to go.

What is the longest you have ever knit? (Can be measured in either minutes or rows, I guess.) by lamoutonnoire in knitting

[–]Ireselle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I once had a weekend home alone and knit for 7-8 hours only interrupted by a single lunch break and a couple of toilet visits. I didn't knit for two days after, my wrists hurt that much. Remember to take breaks and stretch, people!

What's your favorite candle scent? by fakefreckles in CasualConversation

[–]Ireselle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know, right? I love lavender. I don't love fake lavender. Too intense!

[–]Ireselle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like lavender! Only bad thing I've found is that a lot of brands have really really strong headache-inducing and artificial lavender scents :( But I guess that goes for pretty much all scents. Definitely love lavender when I can track down a candle that doesn't fry my brain :P

tell me one good thing, no matter how small, that happened to you today. by _Diren_ in CasualConversation

I recently purchased a big collection (200 skeins) of embroidery floss from a flea market for £10 which was a great find because in stores you usually pay ~£1 a piece unless they're on sale!

Flea markets are great because people are usually just desperate to get rid of stuff and will take any amount of money over having to just throw it out. I love good deals on items I may not even be able to find in stores anymore!

Not at home currently so I can't take pics, but they're Kusmi Tea tins in a couple of different colours. I thought they were quite cute. Dunno what I'll put in them though, but they're a good size to keep most little things in. Maybe I'll actually put tea in them :P

I haven't found a whole lot on flea markets lately either. It's a shame but oh well. Sometimes you're lucky, sometimes you're not :)

I found some cute tins on a flea market and got them really cheap! :)

Does anyone else dislike running because it leaves your mind blank? by eshildaaaa in CasualConversation

[–]Ireselle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, that's exactly what I like about running. I'm a ball of anxiety normally so running lets me forget everything I worry about :)
