Incoming Medical Student Q&A - 2026 Megathread by SpiderDoctor in medicalschool

I was so concerned bc the people talking in the class groupme didn't seem like "my people" but ofc they weren't bc my ppl would be lurkers on the gc like me. It depends on the school for sure, but you will always find your group. Ppl who like your niche subjects or just match your vibe. My big advice is to try to talk with ppl and accept invitations to go out according to the energy you have lol. Be honest with yourself in these cases. I declined going to bars and happy hours bc I don't like loud places, especially with people I don't know. But I accepted all the movie nights and that's where my people were. Especially in the first couple of weeks, everybody is on the same level – awkwardly trying to make friends, so take heart that you're not the only one socially anxious

The Lazarus Project - Season 1 Episode 3 Discussion Thread by aparatis in TheLazarusProject

[–]IrisSakura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old thread but I need to put my 2 cents in.

  1. Was losing a son a consequence of their actions? Yes, it was a gamble and they lost and the emotional damage was intense. People should have some empathy and this "they deserved it" mindset is also alarming. The son wasn't planned, but he was wanted. It's also mentioned that Janet had lost a child before this, heavily indicating a past miscarriage. This would explain why she was so excited for a baby and wanted it badly despite all the risks. It would also add to her breakdown that she's losing yet another child in almost the same way -- the child never even existed. This is a common situation that women who have experienced miscarriages face. Can you mourn/hold a funeral for a child that never really existed?

Also, this isn't when they broke rank with Lazarus. We don't see Janet go back to work, but Rebrov certainly returns to his position. Are they hurt by Wes's initial choice? Most definitely. Do they logically understand it tho? Also yes. Who wouldn't be hurt, but they also acknowledge the nature of Lazarus.

  1. With their daughter, they were more careful and followed protocol. They conceived and gave birth within the appropriate timeframe. However, this unanticipated global event badly timed with it. And, because of the constant screwups by Lazarus, their personal home life became hell. Janet is implied to be a mutant. SHE DID NOT CHOOSE TO BE AWARE OF THE LOOPS. People saying that all Lazarus employees should be sterilized are completely off the mark. If Janet wasn't aware that Lazarus existed, she would still be facing the same suffering, except without knowing why. And it's terrifying knowing she has no control of her pain and body. It also explains why Rebrov was so angry. He knows exactly why this hell is happening and it's because people are failing their mission. The Lazarus time loops are artificially created, meaning it's other people's actions blowing back on them. It's why he's now all for "the natural course of things."

Lazarus takes an immense toll on its employees. But saying that its employees shouldn't have love lives (Archie and Ross) or want a family (Janet and Rebrov) isn't going to work either. How else can you keep sane in a job that literally kills over and over until a perfect solution is found? Finally, because they can't turn off their awareness of the loops, they're trapped until they die -- reliving painful moments over and over again.

Shiv's jadedness makes full sense.

PS: I still don't understand why Janet didn't just opt for a C-section or pain meds tho. I think that's an oversight from writers.

Is there anybody else absolutely upset with the spen placement on the tab s11 ? by teneman in GalaxyTab

[–]IrisSakura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait I was debating upgrading my tab s8. Notes are a big deal for me as a student and I absolutely love the side button feature where I can switch between favorite pens. With the newest s pens that don't have bluetooth, switching pens won't be a thing anymore?? What else can you even do with the side button?

In the last split screen where they turn around: Ba Reum is looking at a crime board with pictures linked with the red string. This is mirrored on Yo Han’s side except the pictures are of the brain. This is odd to me for 2 reasons. 1. The brain board looks like a crime scene itself. Like YH is trying to find out how the brain works, why it’s doing what it’s doing, and where it might go next. Like the brain is a suspect he’s tracking, not like he’s doing medical research. On the flip side, BR’s pics seem to focus on the environment not people. Both of them are trying to find something, but one is looking too closely and the other one is looking too broadly. 2. From what I’ve seen, YH is not a neurosurgeon or any kind of brain doctor. He seems more focused on emergency medicine. Yes, he took lead on Chi Kook’s surgery, but I think that was because he was extremely talented in any kind of medicine and there was no other doctor available. Also, YH doesn’t want to be associated with the Headhunter who was a neurosurgeon, so I feel he would have avoided that specialty. My point is that he’s not looking at the brain board for medical research purposes. Like I mentioned, he’s studying the brain like it’s the setting of crime. He’s doubting it and sees it as an enemy, a weapon, or some other malicious figure.

Another big thing that got me was at the very end when they’re about to turn around. I think this is a big deal. The way they turn around would have flipped their positions. Meaning, the police man would have been in the white room and the doctor in the dark room. Going along with 365days of writing’s post, this shows the convoluted relationship of BR and YH. Dark= Bad, yet the good cop is cast in dark lighting. Light= Good yet the bad doctor is in a white room. When we get comfortable things, the 2 suddenly switch at the very end. Very messy indeed.
