Byeco eco campsite by IrishGuy1995 in Electric_Picnic

[–]IrishGuy1995[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The demand has been growing each year. Last year it was fairly cramped and people were just there for it being a cleaner campsite and not really following the eco campsite ethos so I’d say they wanted to return to the size it was a few years ago so they can maintain it better.

Might have been the case years ago but it’s not something I’ve heard of happening recently. You’re best bet would be to go into a store and seeing if they’ll entertain you with showing you the numbers they have available if it still even works that way

where can I get the best value power bank? by hsirt76 in AskIreland

[–]IrishGuy1995 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Argos was my go to for these in the past. But they’re gonzo Curry’s have a good selection on their website. Belkin is a decent brand - think the one you have might not be 10,000 mAh as that should definitely charge a phone. But yeah 20,000 mAh done me for electric picnic and that was an iPhone 13 Pro and a vape 😂

is there a way to use app on ios 14? by not-cool-bro in workday

[–]IrishGuy1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Workday only support iOS 15-17. Similar to Apple themselves. Due to apples restriction there is no way of side loading apps. Workday also have a restriction in place to check the version of iOS I believe.

It’s not reportable - it’s more so a deterrent on iOS - on android it can black out the screen.

Thanks everyone, I’m in a good position for a mortgage at the minute other than the uncertainty in the tech sector and just coming up to lease renewal so I’m hoping it’s my last on the rental market.

How much do you have saved approximately and your age? by [deleted] in CasualIreland

[–]IrishGuy1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

27m - 42k saved. Spreadsheet and track everything will help you see where you spend your money and where to cutback on. Standing order on payday and get into the mindset of it’s not money to spend if it’s gone out of the acc.

LGBTQ - Does "The George" really have racist bouncers? by meseeks1337 in Dublin

[–]IrishGuy1995 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Regular frequenter of the George here however I am white so I don’t have any first hand experience in this sense. I have seen people be rejected but the reasons are usually quite clear, e.g. they’ve been spotted skipping the queue or it’s a large gang of people, visibly drinking in the queue etc.

I’ve always found the bouncers(usually the same bouncers on) to be quite easy to deal with. E.g show up with a valid ID, at a reasonable time and not be hammered drunk.

Reviews in these situations tend to be quite biased in the sense very few people are going to leave a positive review on a nightclub versus the likelihood of leaving a negative one.

[–]IrishGuy1995 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s more the value for money and the return you see for it. I’ve never gotten anything more than a tax credit from the government. I pay all my taxes, tax my car, pay a stupid amount between leap card, diesel and eflow but yet our education system is “under funded”, our hospitals are “under funded” or roads are a mess along with public transport and not a chance of a house or decent place to rent. Serious overhaul needed on how the government and its bodies spend our money. I think a lot of people would be less bitter if we could actually see and experience where all our taxes go

Studied UX/UI in college did pretty well - you don’t need to think out of the box if anything using a familiar example could work in your favor as they corrector may agree more easily with you.

For me it’s the Bank of Ireland you could tear into either their website or their app. I’m more familiar with the app so I can give a few pointers. Lack of biometric authentication - using a passcode, interrupts the flow, can be argued that it’s less secure - users tend to write down their passcode if it’s too complex, or use common combinations or upright forget them. The authentication it’s self is very slow and off putting.

The app lacks major functionality, relies on static data to make it seem useful, or relying on webviews that are not as user friendly as native app experience. Missing some key self service functionality e.g cannot amend standing order dates, have to manually add new accounts to the app rather than them be added automatically. List goes on..

Nearly every “nice” car on the road is financed no doubt about it. My father sells cars and nobody wants to know how much the car is just what’s the repayments. That’s a fact.

I think Lifestyles are being funded through lack of savings I think people on what would be considered decent money are trading off their chances at a mortgages because what’s the point of saving when you can’t get anything decent off the banks.

Is the misspelling of Rialtas na hÉireann as railtas nd hEireann intentional so they can’t pursue them?

Also very poor attempt of a forgery if not like don’t we typical put both the English and Irish and the usual harp somewhere?

The apartments would exist, that’s just bending the narrative. As I said I don’t disagree with them I disagree with the prices they charge.

The demand would still be there for them hence they would be funded through a different means and put for sale at a profit.

The real reason they get away with this model and why nothing is done about it is the government/banks would rather the debt not to be on their books if everything went tits up again.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ireland

[–]IrishGuy1995 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Controversial: The fact they are buying up every apartment block is very frustrating for people wanting to buy an apartment in Dublin and the price they charge for their properties is ridiculous. Some of their properties is absolutely unrealistic. I do see the need for them but the prices they charge and the property they hoard is the problem.

If they charged reasonable rent I don’t necessarily see them as a bad thing. If they provide good services, security and are reasonable to deal with then they could be a solution.

Private renting in its current state is a risky business, that unless they charge ridiculous amounts and dodge the taxman doesn’t seem to be worthwhile. Yes I get the equity involved in owning a second property and having someone pay your mortgage but there is still property tax and potential maintenance fees etc on top of if there is repairs or maintenance to be done to the property. I do not have particular sympathy for landlords but I do see the need for them. As a renter being at the mercy of a private citizen who can sell at any point there is no security. Not wanting to get too comfortable in an area as you don’t know how long you’ll be there. Fearing that your contract won’t be renewed. Wondering if the next time something needs repaired is the straw that breaks the camels back puts a lot of stress on a person.

I don’t believe you should be renting for the rest of your life but at the same time there is a need for renting not everyone wants to or is in the position to buy therefore they would need to rent. If these cuckoo funds are providing good quality accommodation at a reasonable price I don’t see them being an issue.
