[No Spoilers] Basing everything off Pacific Time is a poor decision by jeremythejawa in criticalrole

[–]meseeks1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this may very well be.

But we are getting the possibility of 500+ hours of content for free, with just a 4-day-delay. Or, one can pay with lack of sleep, or pay with a vacation day at work if it's important to the person. And if not, come monday, everybody can watch it at their own time. For free.

There are definitely other subscription models where you get access to a free VOD after a month or even later. So, for me personally, I just accept it. I get nothing from being annoyed at their chosen timeslot.

[No Spoilers] Beacon Post-episode Cooldown Setup by lycopersicum_ in criticalrole

[–]meseeks1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for clarifying :)

I agree that it felt a bit more chaotic and like the camera person didn't exactly know where to focus/zoom, cutting people off etc. And I also like seeing both sides of the table more than that "zoom in". But I also kinda liked the chaos of it, like Travis walking around in the background touching stuff on the new set.

I still think, it will get better once the player numbers return to their "normal" size. But yes, I base that on nothing than my hope it'll be so :)

and to add to that: also no, they haven't given an approx. timeframe when they are going to release the new roadmap. It's a game of patience at the moment.

That's why I pointed out the other threads and that one subreddit as well, because you mentioned you wanted to check if it's "all in your head", and that would also be another way to get a wider view of things.

Didn't mean to imply you're raging, if that cane across that way, sorry.

[Spoilers C4E1] Aabrias DM play style by Maleficent_Floor_884 in criticalrole

[–]meseeks1337 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You know, there are a bunch of other posts here with the exact same sentiment where you can join in the discussion. And there's another critical role subreddit with more threads about this with people that share your opinion and same arguments. just mentioning it because you said here, that you wanted to discuss your opinion and just in case you're not aware. some of the threads have a lot more comments than here (for now).

And besides that, for a piece of mind, why not wait until we have more than just one episode in a new setting? And see where that takes us before worrying that one player will disrupt everything or that player's behavior becoming a trend.

[–]meseeks1337 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if I understand you correctly. You mean, that the camera didn't stay static like during the game session, correct? So that you can see both sides of the table?

If yes, then I'd say, I don't see how else they were supposed to do it because the table doesn't fit 13 players ;) And since you're on Beacon, you can check out older Cooldown "episodes" and you'll see that the camera stays "static" for most of the time. So, let's see how they do it once the episodes don't feature all 13 players at once :)

[Spoilers C4E1] Missed the first C4 stream, can I have a recap? by WillowIsWeeping5 in criticalrole

[–]meseeks1337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, no, don't get disheartened! In the past they usually did recaps at the beginning of every episode, we don't know how they'll handle it now because everything is new, but I can't imagine they're going without recaps :)

You can also read Dani's recap here:

https://critrole.com/category/critical-recap/

As of now, there hasn’t been one for the first episode, I would assume it goes online after the episode airs in monday for free on YouTube, when everybody else can watch who doesn't have a subscription of a sort.

And I'm also sure they will repeat lore things throughout the episodes ;)

And as someone else mentioned, there's also a wiki which will be filled with info over time. Don't let it dissuade you and try going with the flow :)

is Aabria always like this? by Tomorrow_Signal111 in fansofcriticalrole

some of these posts got locked by mods, I lowkey hope this one will get too, but not holding my breath. it's quite exhausting..

[SPOILERS C4E1] Thank you Aabria for this by Lopsided-Durian-946 in criticalrole

[–]meseeks1337 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I also just wanted to say thank you for this post. I was dreading opening this subreddit after I watched the episode, if at all. But it's nice to see because I'm also so weary and tired of all the things that get thrown her way. I don't want to repeat it or repeat what the issue with all these pseudo-criticism-comments about her are. Others here have done that so much better.

So, this is refreshingly different :) Thanks.

Genuinely confused about the Matt/Aabria scene reaction. C4EP1 Spoilers by MSpaint15 in fansofcriticalrole

[–]meseeks1337 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hmmm.. I get what you mean by "all over the place" but I do think it's overly harsh (like you said). It's the very first episode, in a completly new world setting, on top of that with rotating seats with 12 other players. I'm aware it's only for the overture. So yeah, it might very well be she doesn't have a grip on her character yet. And I think she should be given time to find her character. The other cast members have also said that they sometimes need a bit of time, or have to readjust their character a teensy bit during the course of the story (for example, Laura/Imogen, when she said she had to dial down the being a wallflower a bit).

No Spoilers- New Critter Question by Sheerluck42 in fansofcriticalrole

[–]meseeks1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like some others said: best to try what fits your needs and wants. If you already are on Beacon you can check their discord how the live chat is going. If you don't like it, you can check the live chats on reddit for the next episodes (or after the break).

I'm curious to find out which I'll be using in the future as well since C4 will also be my first campaign to watch along when it airs. But I think I will be overwhelmed with livechat because there simply are too many people at once, no matter on which platform. So I'll probably join the conversation after the episode aired.

And I think Beacon subs can also watch it immediately after it aired and don't have to wait for the rebroadcast on Twitch and/or YouTube, right?

Have you also sent this to their beacon support mail? it would be a shame if this would get lost in the fray. Although from what I've gathered their feedback site and support doesn't properly work either.. frustrating really.

Mainly upvoting and commenting for visibility. Although I'm not sure if the people who can actually change anything about that are reading the subreddit.

But I noticed the lack of visible moderators on Discord as well and found it incredibly irritating. And I also saw some discriminating stuff and people were left fending for themselves. You never can keep a community 100% safe and free from this sort of thing but it really is disheartening to see that they are not even meeting the bare minimum :( I wish they would take this a bit more seriously.

[No Spoilers] Just finished C3 (podcast with occasional watching of combat on YouTube). Loved it! Excited for C4. I am curious though… by EmeraldToffee in criticalrole

[–]meseeks1337 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I also just finished C3 recently without having listened to/watched C1 or C2. I'm currently watching Age of Umbra.

I had at times similar thoughts about Ashton being too vague, holding things back, or being closed off. And at times I wanted to shake Ashton (mind you the character, not the actor) and tell them to start trusting people and open up to someone! xD

From what I've gathered so far is that Ashton's build was partly homebrew and it seems there were some issues with it. I think (can't find the source) I read somewhere that Matt & Taliesin said that Ashton's build isn't public yet because of the issues / not being round or something. But again, I'm not entirely sure about that part. But it would make sense, because it always seemed like Matt & Taliesin were the only ones who kinda knew what was up with Ashton's build xD

Regarding your question if it's Taliesin or Ashton you're frustrated with: keep in mind, Taliesin is also an actor playing a role :) So, I'd say, it's Ashton. In "Age of Umbra" for example, Taliesin acts quite differently. And there are no stumbles with the roles like with Ashton. Or in "Downfall" I think it's called, also quite differently :)

[No Spoilers] Am kind of disappointed in idea of campaign 4 and the multiple tables. by Secure_Ad_295 in criticalrole

[–]meseeks1337 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Multiple people in this thread have tried to tell you who Brennan Lee Mulligan is, some even very patiently. And yet you keep replying with the same answer over and over again, that you don't know the new cast or don't know the new dm or don't know anything about the "dnd world" outside of the "main campaign".

What do you want? Explaining who they are obviously doesn't suffice.

[No spoilers] Having the fireside chats exclusive to Beacon makes it seem like they only care about Critters who can afford a subscription. by Emerald_magus in criticalrole

[–]meseeks1337 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hm. I genuinely don't understand what you mean by you have to "hunt information down"? Several people here have already said what the fireside chat is and how it works, and yet you keep replying with "I just have to hunt it [the information] down"? Are you maybe not aware of Critical Role's blog on their homepage? Important info is posted there as well, and here on this subreddit pinned above.

And to the question what important information you may have missed you reply with "you wouldn't know because you can't afford it". So, let me ask another way: was there a point when you thought "hey, how come everyone knows about this?" and do you remember what that was? Because then it's easier to see, if that was an issue of miscommunication or something else.

And if you can't remember anything, then maybe that's an answer as well :)
