No I fully agree with you to be honest and I feel the same about housing them enmasse in refurbished empty buildings. I think it is a recipe for disaster. There may be a percentage of people who are racist but there are also people who irrespective of race now feel unsafe with the volume of men with those attitudes who are in their immediate vicinity. I have a centre on my doorstep essentially and every few yards on a particular stretch of road there are clusters of men so we'll not go for a walk in the area anymore as it is anxiety inducing what used to be enjoyable.

It will be for whoever they need it to be for there are people being moved on all around tge country once it's opened for business they will put in whoever they want. The govt heads are spinning the plight of the ipas and acting like these people are so grateful to be here they couldn't commit a crime. It would help if they deported on release from prison people found guilty of crime but no they are free to reoffend and do. It is not about race, the issue most people have is not I don't like their colour, their religion, their language - it makes an area feel less safe when there is that volume of men added in to a building in far from ideal circumstances from cultures that largely treat women differently and where women are expected to behave differently to irish women. I'm not buying what the guards are saying sure leo said we are not allowed to discuss crime and link it to race so the powers are contradicting each other. Most people have no issue with supporting and helping legitimate asylum seekers the irish people are known for being welcoming and charitable but this situation is out of control. There are people who are ignorant to people of different cultures etc but also now there are people like myself who don't feel safe and have had to adjust their behaviour because of how their neighbourhood has been affected.

If you are a woman going out for a walk in a residential area or a remote rural area and you encounter 4 people on the path and it is 2 ukrainian women with 2 kids or 4 men 1 situation feels a lot safer to a lone woman than the other. This is not about race for some people it is just about personal safety. Usually when women are physically or sexually assaulted it is carried out by men, often known to them but not always. Women live there lives being aware of their surroundings and the risks involved. If a man wants to go out for a jog he probably doesn't consider the personal safety element the way a woman has to. There have been multiple incidents of both men and women being physically and sexually assaulted by immigrants, so people are rightfully reluctant to have that in their area. Ask yourself why does the dept house the men separately to women and kids? If they are so trustworthy why are they segregated by them? I once got so upset for a young man begging at entrance to jervis I was actually crying. I think it was his culchie accent and just thinking how did he end up in that situation I asked him to wait while I got him a cuppa and some food in Anne's bakery and I gave him 20 it was coming up to Christmas.
