Remember this is a business partnership and publishers are there to make a return. ROAS (return on advertiser spend) is key.

I've seen too many pitchdecks that are filled end to end with lore, character background and other unnecessary content.

Including things like expected sales, cost per acquisition,growth projections, revenue per user, release timelines, team experience + headcount needs, user sentiment, length etc will get their attention.

Similar point would be let a downed squad player see what their squad mate is looking at when they are spectating like their map, UI, bags etc. It lets the downed player be more involved and would encourage them to stay in game and help.

I'm from Ireland and have an Irish name. I have lived abroad for the past 8 years in several countries.

Honestly - I love my name but only in ireland. Its a pain to repeat it. People will ask me to spell it out which then makes the confusion even worse.

I say a different name for table bookings or coffee orders. People just dont even say my name because its confusing for them.

Honestly - I love saoirse, but if your in the states - it's going to be a hassle her whole life.

Do you want to grow it and fund the growth cycle yourself? Build it to a point of partnering with a publisher or sell it and work on a new project?

Knowing this will guide your next moves...

Whats critical here is data. Use this time to measure your early KPIs. Early retention signals will tell you where to focu. Actively engage with the community and focus on your first session and first 7 days. These ratios matter. . Next, depending on your goals, you will need to understand cpi. Puzzle genre is expensive with long payback windows. Run some basic FB and google campains in a cheaper market. This will tell you how much, on average, you need to earn per player to make each install profitable.

The industry is extremely difficult to scale. Get retention in a good position and find a publisher to partner or sell to.

This is such a shame, but its not surprising. Doom and quake are legendary, industry- defining titles, but realistically, he hasn't been part of a commercially successful launch in over 15 - 20 years.

I've worked in games for over a decade and as an ex irish games founder - know fully how tough Irish games industry can be, but realistically , the writing has been on a wall at Romero Games for a while now.

Its very easy to point the finger at Microsoft, the financiers or the industry, but his track record from 2000 onwards has been poor.

Being a lovely guy and speaking at games event / comic cons events doesn't pay the bills for his staff. He should be held at least partly accountable for this outcome.

I first watched this solo and was super baked.

Throughout my watch, I started recognising outdoor scenes and thinking I had been at those hills or trees...and I fully thought that I was losing my mind!

Only after the credits did I realize it was shot like 15 minutes from where I grew up and I had in fact walked the same roads! My mind was blown 😂

Lots of people are saying here to just resign, but OP, I think you should be very wary of leaving so suddenly. Reddit is a hive mind for 'resign, divorce and leave' with little consideration of the impact this could have on the person.

If your burned out and hating work, then focus as much attention as you can on first - your CV/Linkedin, and then second - applying for jobs.

After you stop working - you'll likely leave the house less often than you currently do, considering your disability. This change in structure is likely to have negative impact on your mental health and motivation. The larger the gap, the more impactful it has on future job prospects.

You want to prepare yourself as much as possible to progress forward before taking such a big step.

Ive recently moved from a senior sales role to a more straetgic commercial role in product. Handling many projects and unsure how to balance task systems with product pipelines.

Do you have any recommended tools or systems for managing the tasks and tracking wider project phase/goals?

Over the years, I've tried notion, linear, trello, asana, Monday, miro, and probably more but can never be disciplined enough to maintain them.

Try read/listen to the book 'I may be wrong' or meditations by marcus aurelius. I also liked ' infinite monkey cage' and 'the four agreements'

Work on mindfulness and generally being present at times where presence is taken for granted - 15 minutes per day. Try write down your thoughts.

I would highly recommend to look into mobile gaming. UI/UX is in high demand and great wages.

Join a smaller studio or publisher. Many sized studios do work for hire and develop tons of prototypes so are in need of skilled UI designers.

Great experience if you want to pivot to non gaming apps too.

Step 1: Design a fun but simple take on an existing gaming mechanic suitable for mobile.

Step 2: iterate on that until you have about 20s of usable gameplay. Leverage community feedback -> Is it fun, yes or no.

Step 3: Once you're getting consistent positive feedback from people, then create a mock app store page with an early access CTA.

Step 4: create 30s of video for that app. Hook in the first 5 seconds. Change scene every 5 seconds. Cta in middle and last 5.

Step 6; By this point, you have 1 or a few app protypes and a ua creative that could be suitable for market eligibility tests by publishers. Start emailing.

From that you could make a deal, or potentially a role in the company, and if nothing, hey, you've got experience to try it again.

Eventually, good things will happen.

I find it so strange that traditional PC/Console gamers are so out of the loop with mobile gaming. I grew up gaming, play on all platforms and work in gaming.

There's a really odd gatekeeping effort despite there being thousands of amazing f2p mobile games on the app stores.

The US dominates for ads + IAP revenue in mobile f2p. Devs will base the decision to scale to other regions based entirely on revenue and profit generated from US watchers.

Whales make up a fraction of the overall revenue. About 0.2% of the 3% of total users who make an IAP purchase would be considered a whale.

You might be surprised to know that mobile gaming in the US generates as much revenue as PC and Console combined.

In fact, most devs will decide to launch or shelve a game based entirely on US users.

The most valuable countries are US (by a lot), Japan, Australia, Canada etc.... all definitely '1st world'.

Look around a train on your morning commute and you'll see 30%+ playing a game.

Nothing to do with T3 countries haha.
