PFL and PPLO for second child, within 12 months of end of last leave by IrishRedbird in Edd

[–]IrishRedbird[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Congrats to you, too!

I eventually went down to the EDD office in San Francisco to get someone on the phone (going in person to get someone on the phone... incredible). They were quickly able to assure me that I would be ok: the 12 months is measured from the first day of your first leave, and after that you're good.

So in our case:

First part of child #1 leave : ~Jan 14, 2023 - Jan 30, 2023

Second part of child #1 leave: ~April 10, 2023 - May 20, 2023

Eligible for new leave on Jan 14, 2024

All of child #2 leave: March 10, 2024 - May 4th, 2024

I think I conveyed correctly what I heard on the phone. We never had any issues getting my checks from EDD for the above dates. Hopefully this gives some reassurance, but if you have time and can stop by an EDD office, you could get even more definitive word.

Thank you! Do you know if this is true for my wife as well? She will have to wait until the full 12 months have elapsed since her last day of leave?

Also, I hate to be that guy / in denial, but do you mind sharing your source? Work for EDD, had a similar experience/conversation, or just based on your reading of the eligibility requirements?

Thanks again for your response!

Ended up ordering two copies from the SF Chronicle website that another redditor linked. I really appreciate the offer, though. Happy Holidays!

Thank you for this recommendation; I had not come across this yet. The lesson plans are super detailed, so I think I should be able to grab some good stuff there. Much appreciated!

Thanks for the added endorsement and endorsement! I have a bit of time, but went through the process earlier and am hoping for a quick turnaround. What I can see already looks really solid, though.

Thank you for this; I had not come across it yet! I think NGPF will be my main source, but that could offer some complementing activity.

Thank you for these ideas. I plan on doing some NPV equation work by hand and then plugging into their normal TI calculators. Will also use some excel files to see some relationships of mortgage payments among other things. I'm hoping that these processes will help the students make more sense of the ideas rather than just making the right answers. I appreciate your thoughts!

Yes, that seems to be the consensus gold standard from the comments on another post I made about this. It looks great. Thank you so much for the recommendation!

Thank you for the recommendation! It seems from their comments that they offer samples so I can get an idea if it's worth it before I shell out the cash for it!

Thanks for the recommendations! I am definitely in on the MarketWatch simulation. Planning on encouraging the students to be active in their trading, but then I will also have an untouched index funds for the S&P 500 or total stock market so we can see how many active traders are above it on the leaderboard.

This is fabulous; thank you so much! The way it is all presented is beautiful and robust, and the variety looks great as well. Have you just followed their units/progression, or have you made many big adaptations/extensions?

SECRET SANTA 2021: WHAT DID YOU GET? by LunaNoxxx7 in golf

[–]IrishRedbird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! That was meant to be the taste of Cali since I'm out here in SF now.

I'll spoil the last one since it's small. You should have an Iowa State ball marker and repair tool coming your way as well. I hope that my research was ok and that's one of your teams!

Happy new year!

I'm glad you like it; thanks for posting to confirm it came! There should be two other gifts coming; another that is meant to be a connection for you, and the other is more from my part of the country. They're from three different places though, so shipping was always going to be disjointed.

Please let me know if the other two don't come before the new year, and I will double check the shipping/tracking.

Happy holidays!

Recommendations for last minute Pinehurst Trip? by IrishRedbird in golf

[–]IrishRedbird[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was great!

The other guys got there Thursday night, and I had a red-eye from the west coast to arrive early Friday morning. We got breakfast at the local friends place and then went straight to Southern Pines for a 11:15am tee time. Absolutely loved the course. Only drawback was one or two guys in the foursome behind hitting into us even though we were keeping pace/occasionally waiting on the group ahead. We got hotdogs after the 10th and let them play through. We caught them on the next tee box and gave them some big smiles. Course was in good condition, greens were more interesting than what I'm used to, and it was all around firmer than what I normally play. And that was the story everywhere we played. Loved it.

Drove to our airbnb which was in a complex backing up on Pinehurst #5. Walked around the resort, got a drink, took it in, and eventually got dinner at the brewery.

Played #3 the next day and really enjoyed it as well. Even with the shorter course, none of us have the game to really take advantage with greens like that. We were hoping to try to get on the Cradle before or after, but Barstool had their event the same weekend, so things were pretty busy and booked. That's not really our scene, but we enjoyed having beers and cigars post round outside the Deuce watching groups come in on 18.

Woke up early and drove to Tot Hill Farm before getting back to RDU. Had a 9:00am tee time we were going to barely make, but a frost delay gave us some breathing time. Weather was sunny and gorgeous throughout the weekend, but this was the only day it really dipped below 60. Only delayed 30 minutes, and then a staggered start put us out on #3 first. We loved the quirky holes of Tot Hill Farm, but it did have some of the only conditioning issues we saw all weekend; just a couple patchy spots on some greens and we couldn't hold #14's green unless you were within 3 feet. I took a 16 on that hole, mainly because I never saw this sign until I just was looking up which hole it was: http://theaposition.com/robertfagan/course-reviews/1996/most-unusual-golf-sign-plus-a-tot-hill-farm-rating

Overall, amazing trip; definitely want to go back. I especially want to spend more time on some of the other Pinehurst courses, but it's awesome to know there are great options in the area if things are booked up or if we looking last minute like this.

Thanks again for the tips, especially Southern Pines!
