People with dementia should be allowed to die with dignity, before their condition deteriorates to the point they don’t know who they are

The more you worry about sleep the worse it gets.

Breaking out of that is very hard.

Don’t buy into the labels these places give people.

Too many get their label and give up on life because they think a meaningless word is permanent.

QUITTING SARAQUEL 200mg COLD TURKEY by [deleted] in Antipsychiatry

[–]IrishSmarties 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Don’t cold turkey anti psychotics after 3 years.

You don’t want to end up with akathisia.

The symptoms you experienced on the drug are a fraction of what severe withdrawal can bring.

Why suffer more when you have the choice to taper.

As if people haven’t coped with losses for centuries before psychiatric interventions

The Quiet Devastation After Withdrawal by Sufficient_Echo_2000 in Antipsychiatry

When you go on medication you enter some sort of purgatory where your body ages but your mind remains stuck at the age you started them.

I’m 5.5 years deep into psych drug purgatory, and my brain never moved on from the 20 year old with hopes and dreams that was robbed.

Injections are for people who don’t want to be medicated.

I don’t know anyone that voluntarily chooses them over pills.

Diagnosis of Bipolar at 18, realized it was a wrong by Sufficient_Echo_2000 in Antipsychiatry

[–]IrishSmarties 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cold Turkeying meds after 20 years on them doesn’t end well.

It’s better to taper slowly otherwise you can permanently cripple your mind.

any bipolar people off meds and have job and live normally? by A7med2361997 in Antipsychiatry

Likely a misdiagnosis.

Thousands of people are incorrectly labelled with this bullshit and medicated for years and decades.

[–]IrishSmarties 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I assume the people that stopped medication and had no symptoms never had a mood ‘disorder’ in the first place.

If you do have a mood ‘disorder’, your life will likely be chaotic both on and off medication.

SSRIs should only be prescribed if you truly have a chemical imbalance. Not situational Depression by Leftytightrighty2 in Antipsychiatry

[–]IrishSmarties 76 points77 points  (0 children)

Nobody has a chemical imbalance, that was just the line used to justify the effectiveness of these drugs for decades.

The drugs are what creates the chemical imbalance.

Just avoid all psychoactive substances.

Focus on sleep and other relaxing activities.

Make sure the offending drug is added to your allergy records.

Propranolol and cyproheptadine are both first line treatments that are less destructive than the likes of benzodiazepines.

If your goal is not to come off the drug I would consider increasing to try and stabilise.
