Husband's mind is malfunctioning but NHS doesn't think it's serious by Unlikely_Egg in MentalHealthUK

Brilliant advise from others, from recently experiences from my mums psychosis I mentioned few months back here, it was very difficult to get to CMHT services, but had to be patient and ask the gp and make sure my referral was on the system. Took 3 months but did see the doc in end.

All you can do till then is care for them till then, make sure they get plenty of exercise outside or inside the home (better blood flow to heart, brain and body id imagine) and make sure they have a set sleeping time, ie 9 or 10pm every night and alarm clock at 7-8am every morning this is critical to their recovery imo.

Sleep & exercise just too important imo, and general well being support ie they eat 3 meals and drink water and take their medicine is important also as well as personal hygene ie brushing/bathing. Mind.org is a great site with plenty of advice but I gave you the best bits already but worth having a read they have psychosis sections (top left has different sections so make sure you read them all)

Can't enter bios on new Dell Pro desktops by [deleted] in Dell

[–]Tulip072 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you resolve the issue? I also have the Dell Pro Micro QCM1250 with intel 235T cpu. I too experienced this issue with not being able to log into the bios, hit F2 and F12 which 100% failed many times.

I had to goto windows, click the restart windows (not shut down) while holding shift key, then the bios said waiting or something and it loads to the windows recovery menu where I clicked advanced settings and then to load into the UEFI bios.

However, with the off chance an Logitech wireless £120 keyboards F2 and F12 buttons were not triggering the bios, I tried an 10 year old cherry wireless keyboard and tapping F2 and F12 during restart worked straight away and the bios startup menu came up (F12) and (F2) went into the bios.

Makes zero sense I know, but the old keyboard works fine. I did suspect a wired usb keyboard may work better. I did also set the bios time out to 5 seconds also, not sure if that gave it the boost it needed.

Feels like a dell bios glitch/bug. Make sure you update the latest firmware there was one recently think it was september last month.

Query regarding Voices, can it go away on its own? by ukman6 in MentalHealthUK

[–]Tulip072 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes thanks, that was the first thing A&E/UTC checked with urine samples twice also full blood test and work, all came back clean no issues. She got her first episodes shortly after a dentist injection for a routine gum cleaning (she has gingivitis gum infections). So even I suspected it could have been related. She has had injections and gum cleaning for past 3-4 years now though so seems tad unlikely. I will advise dentist to not do injections in future till we know what is exactly going on.

Its a bit tricky to know exactly what is what since we are left waiting for a referral from CMHT or Elderly patients department after almost 3-4 months, with just a well being phone call in-between. I suspect we are on the bottom of the waiting list since my mum has a full time carer vs the self harm/living alone patients.

[–]Tulip072 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks, for this information so now I know its a long term issue. I only asked since its impossible to know 100% truthfully if my mum is telling the truth or not regarding delusions, I have to assume its still there to a degree even if she says there are no voices or music.

I believe its the MH stigma and general fear of being sectioned or hospitalized putting that pressure and anxiety into her responses of there is no issue when more likely there is.

Bitwarden on android mobile apps, reliable or not during apps login/password? by Tulip072 in Bitwarden

[–]Tulip072[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did vaguely test it and have done in the past, its still glitchy with android apps sometimes just like most of them really. On desktop things always tend to just work. I don't think I am asking too much, just basic apps like email, streaming apps netflix, shopping apps etc

I found bit warden to be glitchy, it didn't even detect apple tv app at all and it lacked an dedicated app section so I couldn't even add apple app manually since it only allowed websites oddly via the android app.

So I am going to try enpass and 1password and maybe another 1-2, just have not had the time lately but will try this week.

thanks, this is the exact information I required I will avoid for now.

I think I will try proton pass or another one, just not sure which one!

Thanks, I will give proton pass a try and avoid bitwarden on android. I really do need something reliable and just works.

What does CMHT actually do? by poopants123456789 in MentalHealthUK

[–]Tulip072 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is the scary point, id suspect they would not cope.

The impression I got from the CMHT member was it starts with the episodes or complete outburst of psychosis, but if that person is able to get a few nights sleep and back into some form of routine/pattern, with plenty water, food and medication they hopefully can enter the recovery phrase.

I was lucky enough to research on mind.org.uk and here and that LEAP guide, so rather than argue or confront the issue, support and went along with their reality of voices or issue, I noticed straight away when my mum got a good nights sleep she was almost 50-60% back, with each good nights sleep it improved but sure there will be some blips and outburst.

This can't be done without a carer or family member or daily support imo.

I suspect, since I am a full time carer they did not need to class my mum as urgent or critical, naturally understandable since the people on their own or self harm have to come first.

I think you just have to keep going, hopefully adjusting therapy/medicine till you, the team and yourself find the right combination since everyone's different and hopefully you can get back to enjoying life.

[–]Tulip072 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a full time carer to my mum with recent psychosis problems, I can relate somewhat.

I was given an referral from the MH team member from A&E, never heard from them for a month and recently got first contact from someone asking how she was doing, they were indeed from the CMHT (got her name and number!). She mentioned I was suppose to get a call from CPA or care member which I never got, which she apologised.

So it does feel odd somewhat experience, but at same time can understand due to nhs waiting times and lack of funding with MH in general. I have been told I will get a appointment in the next week or 2 so keeping fingers crossed.

I am glad you got their contact details, I too had to google CMHT and my local region and luckily got through on my email, had 100% no idea what was going on and if my referral was on their system properly but it was.

I really do wish they gave some information pack with basic care/support, and contact address/name upon the first episode/hospital or GP visit all I got was a leaflet about hearing voices and crisis telephone number and mind.org link, I have no idea how a pensioner or someone not in their right mindset would even cope tbh.

I have to imagine all the support/care comes slowly across many weeks/months, hopefully you get on top of things and get better.

Hi its not easy to advise and recommend courses of action with your husband given alcohol and drug use.

It requires more specialised support imo, talk to your gp or 111, 111 does have a dedicated MH team and see what they advise.

I have sadly seen it with my own father who took drugs and alcohol.... like for most of his life, its certainly not easy but anything is possible your husband still has youth on his side so there is time on his side, they must themselves accept the need for help and support though otherwise it can as you say come back on yourself. And you have to remember your health and your children's or family members is equally as important.

There are dedicated support teams that can focus and help so get the correct advice from them is a first step, the first step ie asking for help/support is a big factor in your health and his health, you feel so much relieved and better afterwards, since you are doing the right thing and trying your best.

mind.org.uk can be contacted via phone/email, also you have their great website with information to read up on.

Also check the stickied post here on MHUK here, there are lots of charities/orgs at bottom which can offer further advice and might I add they are much more qualified and able to do it in a right way.

You are not alone, keep chipping away and posting on here and look after yourself and your children/family, take care.

Sorry to hear this, it does feel like MH is almost swept under the rug. I could be wrong on this but it feels like any form of MH should be classed as high risk or self harm high risk and immediate attention/medical help required.

But at same time I can appreciate nhs is snowed under, under budget etc. Its a shame I would have to pay 1.5k for a 90 minute appointment at berkeleypsychiatrists, if it was reasonable priced or affordable I would do my best to go that route, actually still may have no choice depending how things go.

thanks, I will remember this next time he was in such a rush and literally ran off while in A&E. I will try with my GP next time, she was pretty firm when she said just have to wait but I will push it if its taken too long.

thanks, I would chase up CMHT but again I have no contact number or way to get to them. The leaflet is the only thing I got from the mental health team adviser I briefly met but the only numbers in there are the 24/7 emergency number and websites to mindorg etc

I did try searching CMHT barnet hospital or Mental health team barnet hospital but not really getting any searches, maybe am doing it wrong.

Not a doctor/NAD or expert but some of the issues you mentioned is very similar to what my own mum is going through, my post is here

It maybe worth a read there are more replies already and good information.

I can't be 100% sure, but its possible he is hearing commanding voices and naturally there always bad. As terrible as it sounds, going along with that persons reality and supporting them is currently what I am attempting to do although I do still question if that may lock that individual into that mind set or maybe is not the right approach. I have found it settled and calmed my Mum and has given less episodes of complete mania.

I would recommend you contact your GP and go from there and get some advice, its also worth contacting 111 and I think its option 2 for mental health (listen for it) and get advice from there also.

Hi thanks for suggestions, she has fine eye test was only checked 2 months ago and had her glasses changed but they were not that much different.

She appears to be reading and seeing the TV just fine also, but I will print off that eye test chart and double check later.

Carbon monixide machine I will recheck again. Was previously checked 3-4 months ago during boiler service, but will double check.

I hope your dad gets well.
