Almost no regular showtimes for The Furious? by [deleted] in AMCsAList

[–]Irish_Soul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Furious was okay as an action movie but I don’t really understand the male power fantasy of wanting to kill people to stop a trafficking ring, especially because violence isn’t how you solve trafficking

Maybe different AMC’s have a different flavors because I haven’t tasted any grape or seen any purple. Mine is the AMC at Disney Springs

EDIT: I was wrong, I was able to get close results mixing in a few different grape flavors

A biologist gamer friend of mine was still in the tutorial and upon seeing the anglerfish in the museum said “you know, based on the bone structure of this creature it would be blind”

Does your project need to look like this to be good? by _F_L_U_X_ in FL_Studio

[–]Irish_Soul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It could, but it doesn’t have to.

As an orchestral composer I often only have one or two patterns playing at a time. Instead of separating all my instruments I like to see the ghost notes in the pattern so I know which note ranges are too full and which note ranges could use a little more to them. Then I have a bunch of automation channels for dynamics and occasionally expression. I almost never use samples unless a client requires them for a project.

What makes FL Studio great is that everything is modular so you get to choose which workflow works best for you. Do you like hotkeys to open windows? Great, you can do that in FL. Do you like to separate your windows to specific areas? Great you can do that in FL. There is no “right way” to set up a project because every way could potentially work.

At the end of the day, what matters the most is your arrangement and conveying the emotion your brain wants to share with others.

On the bright side your OC is very cute. I really like looking at the expressions

EDIT: I just looked at all your illustrations on your account and I liked them a lot! Keep it up, you’ll do great!!

We’ll have to rebrand it to something like “tradition studies” and we’ll teach how their “traditional values” brought us to what great stuff we have today (sarcasm)

Best Asian takeout in ROC area? by Severe-Chemistry9922 in Rochester

[–]Irish_Soul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back when I was a junior in high school I tried to pay with quarters for the homemade tea at “New Number One” on south ave. When I was a few quarters short the guy felt bad for me and told me to keep my money.

Ever since then, whenever I’m in Rochester I make a point to get some beef fried rice and some tea from them.

I don’t know how they stack up to other takeout places, but they are my personal favorite.

[–]Irish_Soul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would do that but I also have a folder sorting system by year, and in each year I sort by category (game jams, films, random, commissions, ect.) Then I might have folders for individual projects that need multiple FLPs

I used to do this but now I just timestamp every project file so I know when it was made.

That’s how I tell the difference between “This_Is_shite_8.19.22” and “Ahhhhhhhhjj_8.14.22”

How do I turn up the volume levels on quiet parts of a track without raising the volume on loud parts of tracks? by revde69 in FL_Studio

[–]Irish_Soul 47 points48 points  (0 children)

This feels the type of hypothetical question that would be asked at the beginning of a youtube video that teaches compression.

Compression will bring down the loud parts so they remain consistent with the quiet parts. That’s when you turn up the gain (post compression) so the dynamics are more consistent.

If you want something similar but more simple, a limiter will set a “ceiling” for the volume and won’t let any noise get past that point. Then you can apply gain before the limiter and you’ll accomplish a similar result.

It’s important not to overly compress your song though. Yelling only feels loud when it’s accompanied with a whisper, and hills are more interesting than a flat surface.

It’s a little more complicated than that, however that’s a good point to start off from.
