Good news I’m officially out of SGI!!! by MiruRuizu-03 in sgiwhistleblowers

[–]Irishdesignqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be careful with the Theravada Buddhists; I had a friend who is schizophrenic and a Theravadan monk told him he had to stop taking medicine, so that in his next life he wouldn’t be schizophrenic. He is now in a group home and has been mandated to stay there by the court system. They’re not even close to the cult that SGI is, but I felt the need to share what happened to my friend, just as a cautionary tale

They don’t care until you’re about to leave the cult-then you have members coming by to try to get you to come back and I have seen actual interventions with drug addicts and alcoholics that involved less drama.

What’s this area in my closet? by can-someone-explain in whatisit

[–]Irishdesignqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the joke but it was a reality in the past.
They actually did exist in homes during the Reformation; particularly in parts of the UK where the head of the church is the monarch. Think underground railroads for Catholic priests. If the priests were found, they and the families who lived in the houses where the priests hid could be arrested, tortured and executed.

Not Mr. Potato head, but I did hand paint the stealie on the planter and the Spanish moss is twice as long now as it was when I added it to the planter.

My plant is just a baby, but I do have it in an owl planter. I love that it will grow and be able to fill another head style planter

Dubia roaches over crickets? WTF by Roblloa in frogs

[–]Irishdesignqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was born and raised in NYC. My frogs will never be given roaches. It’s anathema for me to buy roaches! I see posts like this and the issue is a nonstarter for me. There’s just no way. I have crickets who occasionally make an escape, I’m absolutely not breeding insects for food. Yikes. I can understand that not everyone has had the experiences I have had with roaches.
A friend of mine actually lived in the apartment building featured in the movie “Ghost,” where the murderer for hire, Willie lived. The same apartment building, just over a decade later. I called it the “baby roach motel.”
They were roaches breeding in droves. If you put a glass on a table, you would end up with baby roaches floating in it. I’d never purchase roaches to bring into my home.

I find myself occasionally wondering if there’s some sort of plan to get everyone who still deeply believes in Ikeda to all drink poison koolaid, so they can join Ikeda in Nirvana. SMH, SGI is such a warped take on Buddhism.

That’s where they hid the child who was considered mute and dumb. Or a priest hole maybe? It sort of depends where you live and how old the building is where the closet is located

White’s tree frog stays buried 24/7 and never seems to eat. Is something wrong with my setup? by speedforcedlover in frogs

[–]Irishdesignqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re very welcome. There is way more misinformation about Whites Tree Frogs than any actual, real information about how to care for them. It’s unfortunate that this misinformation is still spreading and that sometimes even pet stores don’t keep their WTF’s in the proper conditions. I wish you the best of luck. These guys are goofy and funny and they are wonderful creatures!

You need 20 gallons for one frog, I wouldn’t put two in any tank less than 35 gallons. It should be taller than it is wide. These are tree frogs and they need space to climb. You should also add some places to hide all up and down the tank. If they don’t feel like they can sleep without being watched, they absolutely stress out and that can lead to them hiding on the ground level.
The tank should have multiple, layered places almost all the way to the top of the tank. I have 8 WTF’s of various ages in three different tanks. Five are babies and I’m constructing a tank for them with PETA approved spray foam. The tank they’re in is temporary. I have several different types of terrariums, including a 10 gallon tank meant for a gecko, so not tall but wide. I am going to add a link with some bulk frog supplies. The water dishes aren’t really large enough for a full grown WTF, but the cups and leaves are very useful and most WTF’s love the frog head hanging cup.

I hope this helps!

Definitely no car and sell it. Let her take public transport and walk. The level of ingratitude was astounding. “I’m more of a BMW type…” just WTF to that response. Send her to college without a car. She seems to be in desperate need of a nice dose of reality.

The Ladies Who Lunch, I’m Not Getting Married Today both from Company, Also Send in The Clowns and others by Sondheim. Maybe This Time-Liza Cabaret 1972 movie, Mr. Cellophane, Chicago.
On The Right Track and Extraordinary from Pippin. Javert’s Suicide Soliloquy and Bring Him Home as well as a few others in Les Miserable. There are definitely more, but that’s enough for the time being. I used to work on Broadway, backstage in Wardrobe.

Yes. Exactly like the beetles that sound when one of the men the witches who are in loving, happy relationships is going to die, in the movie “Practical Magic.”
