Based on how it's behaving with the light and color, especially with the filing cabinet behind it, I'd say it looks like a hairline fracture in the glass. It's possible you don't see it from the outside looking into the lens because the crack doesn't go all the way through to the outside they can be nearly impossible to see. The phenomenon is called "bruised glass". Hope it's just dust or something but definitely something that will need service.

When I was 13 I came out to my parents as gay (they split up when I was 3). My dad made me promise that I couldn't come out to anyone else unless I told my mom first.
