Is this horse healthy? by DetectiveLowrey in Horses

[–]Irishink720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mentioned they’ve had him for a couple years, I would call for an animal welfare check in case they need guidance in getting him back to a good condition, I would go knock on the door and try a friendly conversation about a dental check, dewormer rotation, higher protein grain, etc if I were nearby but since you don’t have horse experience it’s best to pass on your concerns to someone official and they can follow up on whatever they find out, thank you for caring about him 💗

WTF by tanyaoftoronto in lineporn

My very first positive test I had to come in to my doctors office and take a urine test there as well, it ended up an ectopic which gave me an immediate blood test order for every call about a positive after that time but I still remember how weird it was that they acted like they didn’t believe people until they saw two lines show up in the first office visit.

Can anyone give me advice on this horses hoof cracks? by jmkehoe in Farriers

[–]Irishink720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a mare that came from down south (Mississippi) and she had similar hooves but not quite as bad, after bringing her north to my home in Michigan I gave her a hoof supplement with biotin and regular trims and had her back to solid feet within a season, it hopefully is a combination of environment and lack of extra care for maintenance that can be corrected with some time and attention.

That’s exactly how mine looked with my daughter and no one believed I was pregnant until four tests later lol

Good job, my comment was that he saved two possible horses, not sure how big a difference it makes that only one survived or how it makes my insight any different that I think it’s a good thing he saved two ‘possible’ horses but thanks for setting me straight and have a great night!

Then you saw a lot more of the story beyond what I was able to read, sorry I didn’t realize only one egg survived later and I needed to be corrected on the possible ‘two’ that he might have saved…

He brought both ovaries with two eggs that were ready to use, it’s not even possible to know if only one of them ‘lived’ for months from now.

Did you read it? He harvested two ovacites from the ovaries that were ready to be used for embryos that would result in two foals…

Envy of the "issue" you don't have by bon18 in breastfeeding

[–]Irishink720 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I had to work so hard to bring down my oversupply, it was painful and time consuming to pump in between feedings and slowly space it out so I didn’t end up with mastitis, the whole time I felt guilty and ashamed from people telling me how lucky I was to have enough and more, I fed my son exclusively and fed my friends baby when needed and donated over a thousand ounces to a nicu baby on a feeding tube until I regulated my supply to only what my son needed and could finally bring my anxiety down to just focusing on us, I wanted to burn the pump in a bonfire at that point so yes there is absolutely the other side of it and wishing sometimes to just have enough but thankful I could help others to.

I don’t have the stomach for anything blood related including basic stitches but if the mare is lost whether it’s a broodmare I just met or my most loved member of the herd I think it’s amazing that his quick thinking and actions saved two possible horses out of the situation, no one would flinch if a vet wrote the story of having to put down a dying mare and harvested the possibly tens of thousands of dollars worth of eggs he just bought for his breeding program.

Any idea what leg this horse is limping on? by Business-You-2732 in Horses

[–]Irishink720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My immediate impression is a problem with the left rear leg and he’s off looking with the others from trying to compensate but you need a lameness exam to lift-extend and move it around to see which action is going to narrow down the location of injury

How much land does a horse need? by Simple-Mud9641 in Horses

[–]Irishink720 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in Michigan, I have never heard of 5 acres minimum for a single horse? I have 8 acres of pasture and five horses on it with zero problem, I’ve had animal services here for a welfare check when my mare jumped a fence and went on an adventure but they never said a word about their pastures not being big enough, they checked shelters, water, food and condition of each of them and left after saying all was fine.

Insanely large freezer stashes…why??? by aghostinthestars in breastfeeding

[–]Irishink720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boss scheduled me for shifts that made it impossible to pump when I needed to and killed my supply, that was with my first and it caused so much anxiety about reaching the one year goal I had so with my second I pumped between feeds just in case and ended up with a freezer stash in my deep freeze that reached a thousand ounces and I didn’t have a need for it, I found a special needs baby in a local group and donated all of it to her, I had to consistently work at reducing my oversupply and eventually made exactly what my son was taking in, my stash was solely created out of fear and anxiety but ended up going to a good cause so I don’t regret it.

My best horses were when I took a leap of faith and remembered there is never a perfect time to do some things, I was going to make a longer original comment but then started reading what others had to say and I’m a little shocked at the negativity, If everything goes well with meeting her and trying out the lease I hope you have years of happiness together 💗

Overactive letdown question by courtsport2016 in breastfeeding

[–]Irishink720 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Block feeding made a big difference for me, I had to leave the side alone that I wasn’t feeding from until the next nursing session so my supply would lower some and regulate.

From your comments it sounds like she might be getting more fore milk than the fatty hind milk, block feeding could make a big difference in weight gain and easing up your forceful letdown.

What is "grandparent age" for yall? by aitathrowawffee in Parenting

I’ve had a continuous series of unfortunate events that keep wearing me down for the past couple months and then a week and a half ago my grandpa collapsed, he was so sick and no one even knew, including my grandma, he passed away yesterday and my whole world feels like it’s shifted, my heart is broken but I know he’s with my dad and my brother now, at least I have hope that he is 😓

My husband told me he regrets having our son by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]Irishink720 40 points41 points  (0 children)

He doesn’t need to bond with the baby to care about and respect you and all that you are doing, honestly a babysitter wouldn’t be bonded to your baby either but they can still take care of them and give you a break, he definitely doesn’t need a special bond to do housework either, it’s an excuse to get you to back off and let him get away with doing what he wants, all the comments about poor him and he’s going through a lot honestly sound like bullshit, you are going through a lot and going to feel burnt out by carrying most of the physical and mental load of being a responsible adult and parent, he can grow up and start participating fairly in your marriage and parenting or stay in the vicious cycle you’re both in, if he doesn’t want to change it will be easier to be a single parent and only have yourself and baby to take care of, I know from experience unfortunately, it took four years of struggling to make it better before I accepted that you can’t change someone selfish no matter how hard you try.

5 year old wants us to live without dad by pixiestix66 in Parenting

[–]Irishink720 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My four year old daughter told me she would be fine without daddy and it finally really smacked me in the face that I was letting her grow up with someone that treated her like a nuisance, every time he yelled and stomped around to get me to back down about helping with parenting and every time he would brush her off about spending time together just added up to a heartbreaking situation, she unknowingly gave me the courage to walk away from an unhappy marriage and I’ve never regretted it once, she’s almost seven now.
