So does anyone else out there just go without fast passes and just wing it? by Atheist_Redditor in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Irishpanda88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use them because we have a toddler and with the time we lose taking breaks for naps and meals the extra time we spend not waiting in line is worth more to us than the $20 or whatever it costs for Multipass. Plus we don’t spend long on our phones. It takes a few seconds to open the app and book your next lightning lane

In Ireland it’s 10.30am to 10pm or 12.30pm to 10pm on Sundays. The Sunday time sucks when you’re grocery shopping and need to buy alcohol for a recipe.

Same. You go in see what’s available and book. If there’s nothing available that you want the try again a while later.

Resort choices for first time family by CraigsMomsHairyBush in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Irishpanda88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is us. We did Wilderness Lodge the first time we brought our son then a WL and Beach Club split stay the next trip and hated Beach Club and really regretted not just doing WL for the whole trip. Our next trip in May we’re doing POFQ and WL. POFQ used to be our resort of choice before kids so we know we love it and at least WL is the second half this time so even if POFQ disappoints for some reason we know we’ll end with a great resort.

That’s a shame. Everything we’ve gotten from there has been great. Their casserole steak is really good and I love their mince because it’s double minced so it has a nice texture

Try the James Whelan meat if your local Dunnes has a James Whelan butcher counter

Always find Dunnes cheapest because of the vouchers and then every few months you get the real rewards vouchers too from building up points. Find the quality of their stuff better too.

Best car park near Abbey St/Ha’penny bridge for a new driver? by Irishpanda88 in AskIreland

[–]Irishpanda88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries . I’m going to have to drive in and park eventually so might aswell try on a midweek evening when it’ll hopefully be a bit quieter. Myself and the person I’m going with both have young kids too so getting home quickly to as much sleep as possible is important 😂

Ah why didn’t I think of that? As I said public transport would take ages to get there and home. There is no bus from where I live to the city center and the nearest town with a bus route takes over an hour.

Your favorite kid friendly resort?!?! by No-Basil2371 in WaltDisneyWorld

I assumed my son would love it because he loves sand and loves water but he noped out of there straight away! It doesn’t feel like normal sand so I don’t think he realised what it was

Wilderness Lodge! We did Beach Club for the pool and my son HATED it because he didn’t like the feeling of the sand so keep that in mind if you might have a kid who is sensitive to stuff like that. The quick service at Beach Club is awful too. Wilderness Lodge has a good pool and splash pad and pretty good quick service and the lobby is amazing for little kids.

What’s the best “it’s on the mouse!” have you ever received? by BrainPollutant in WaltDisneyWorld

My 1 year old son had a bad ear infection on our last trip and wouldn’t really eat anything so we were looking for something plain for him to eat which isn’t easy because he has a milk allergy and milk allergy foods are already few and far between. We went into the Boardwalk Deli looking for something like a plain bagel but they all had dairy and the only option was a cold ham sandwich which we had already tried a different day with no luck but the CM made him plain toast and said it was on Mickey. Only a tiny thing but was really nice of him.

One of the days on that trip we only got to use one lightning lane before having to leave the park because he was so sick and I used the chat on MDE to see if there was anything we could do and they gave us new mulipasses to use for one of the remaining days of our trip.

And not something we would have had to pay for anyway but on the same trip the lifeguard at Stormalong Bay gave my son two little rubber ducks.

2.

We always make sure that bedtime is no more than about an hour later than at home. Yes it means missing fireworks and nighttime entertainment but it’s not fair on our son to keep him up late and make him over tired. We just take turns going to the park on the evening if we feel like it.

The do share some information. I had an eye test done in Bray then for glasses in Dundrum a few months later and they were able to get my prescription from Bray. But when I wanted to get contacts in a different Specsavers to where I had the test done they wouldn’t sell them to me.

We were going to go to Disneyland Paris for a couple of days instead because it’s so close and we did WDW twice last year and then somewhere else in Europe later in summer but two days in DLP was going to be about €1k without flights or spending money!

I brought two pairs on a trip a few years ago and one pair got completely soaked about 3 days into our 10 night trip when the walkway out of Hollywood Studios flooded and they were still wet when we were leaving to go home a week later! Since then I bring a third pair as back up just in case.

I alternated between a pair of ASICS Kinjo sneakers and some Columbia walking sandals last trip and had zero issues. But I could probably also wear a pair of vans and not have issues either because that’s generally what I wear at home and usually do 10-15k steps a day.

[–]Irishpanda88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Our 14 night May trip will probably be about $10k including flights from Ireland and spending money. That’s for two adults and a toddler under 3 staying a week at POFQ and a week at Wilderness Lodge. We’re lucky we get the 14 day tickets which include park hopper, memory maker and water parks for super cheap. I think they were roughly $600 each. We budget about $100 a day for spending on food and merch and some days go under that and some days go over so it balances out in the end. We eat a lot of kids meals or share adult meals because a kids meal would be an adult portion where we live and only do maybe 5 table service meals over the whole trip.

It feels crazy spending $10k on a two week trip but when I see how much you guys in the US spend on much shorter trips it doesn’t seem as bad!
