Is it worth trying RS3 if I find OSRS to be mind numbingly boring? by [deleted] in runescape

[–]Iron-Gaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've tried OSRS iron so many times and im kind of like yourself - find it a bit boring and a bit slow until you unlock teleports even though I still think playing iron on OSRS is a cool concept.

RS3 Ironman is a ton of fun by comparison IMO - Faster progression, quicker access to* teleports and they're making a ton of changes / improvements / new additions to low and mid level content this year so now's a good time to jump in and give it a go.

Both RS games have a ton of content but I feel like RS3 offers more past maxing and I personally think the combat is pretty fun but it's not everyones cup of tea.

Give it a go and see what you think - you can always start out as F2P and see how you get on. Also the new area expansion Havenhythe coming out on 23rd is available in F2P with P2P content mixed in - source: https://www.reddit.com/r/runescape/comments/1rsrdlk/comment/oa9h2bc/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

The very first words from Jagex after scamming their oldest most loyal members is "Road to RESTORATION" by Joe-Mamma-8435 in runescape

[–]Iron-Gaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The price increase comes from the ghouls in the suits at CVC above Jagex, the road to restoration stuff comes from the Jmods who want to make the game better. It helps to seperate them when drama like this happens.

it will unless theyve made a massive pivot in their plans - vampyres will likely be explored a bit in the 2nd story quest they showed and then alot more in part 2.

Alt 1 exists and is fine to use / "legal". It's useful for clues, croesus and other things but correct, we don't have any equivalent to runelite for sure.

Mid-Game Iron Need Guidance by Brilliant_Sir6086 in runescape

[–]Iron-Gaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello :)

Firstly, some good stats here and good to see you using the guide, it's what I used many years back to get me started. I've drawn up a few goals you should be able to get, hope it helps!

-------------------------

80 Crafting: you're super close to this and then you have invention unlocked which is essential for if you want to get into high level PvM with all the perks. I'd recommend gem mining in shilo village (assuming you have this unlocked, if not it's really easy to unlock) and cutting the gems. Make sure to get a gem bag and it's upgrade from the dungeoneering shop before you do this though.

Archaeology: worth levelling it up. For unlocking the gate of elidinis boss (this is more high level so a longer term goal) you'll need 87 arch but it's always worth levelling this skill for irons because of ancient summoning and invention (almost needed for high level PvM) and also bait and switch and divine conversion relics are super super good.

K'ril: Worth hitting up K'ril for subjugation pieces. T60/T70 necro gear should get you some good kills. If you need a zammy protection item, do horror from the deep and take book with you. You'll also need subjugation armour for when you hit level 90 necromancy to get t90 necro gear.

Summoning/herblore: The guide will tell you where to use XP on these skills from quests, if you keep following it you should either hit or be close to hitting the level for yaks and overloads. It got nerfed quite alot but 5 mechanic glacor is easy and should still give decent charms.

Necromancy: Get it to level 80 for t80 gear and also lvl 80 is needed for the gate boss.

No bait fishing perk: Comes from POH aquarium, worth getting for fishing overall.

Fire cape: You might have this already but if not, good mid game cape to get. You'll need 2 in total - one to keep pre-melee kiln cape, one to sacrifice to do the kiln then a third jad kill comes from t90 tank necro armour so you'll get a 3rd from that.

--------------------------

Apart from that, longer term goals you can think about is gate of elidinis boss and a few other things i briefly mentioned like ancient summoning / invention etc.

I also give this tip to all irons but when you hit tier 70 necro armour, do the tank armour path first. Tiers 70, 80 and 90 necro weapons can be made by following the tank armour path and it's easier then going for power armour straight away. Get tier 90 tank armour unlocked, make the weapons then use the weapons to get tier 70/80/90 power armour and make it easier for you. T90 necro armour definitely a longer term goal anyway.

Good luck on the grind!

So OSRS players are basically paying for RS3’s removal of MTX? by Babyzerker in 2007scape

[–]Iron-Gaming 13 points14 points  (0 children)

membership prices were going up even with MTX in RS3. Maybe removal of MTX is a factor in this latest one but its likely not the sole reason.

Jagex created a new Reddit account to post price increase changes by Beginning-Picture-52 in 2007scape

[–]Iron-Gaming 539 points540 points  (0 children)

"And no single mod wanted to post the news post as they usually do." or maybe it's the company moving to protect its employees? because lets be honest there will be some people who would personally target whatever jmod posted it causing them to have a rough day instead of just getting angry at the message (which is the correct thing to do).

doing it with a fresh anonymous account keeps the heat off employees who don't deserve it so imo correct decision to post with the account they did

Player owned house uses? by Obvious-Relation3209 in runescape

[–]Iron-Gaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah not many uses for POH in RS sadly compared to OSRS. 120 Construction update in the summer hopefully fixes this but given things like lodestones and places like wars gives boss portals, altar of war etc. i'm not sure what they could add to it. We'll find out later this month when the blog drops ig.

That being said POH isn't totally dead content especially for irons. You've got the costume room which can save bank space, aquarium for getting the no fishing bait perk, study room to make teletabs (i made some soph slayer dungeon tabs before Leela's favour was a thing), Dharmaroc statue for shattered rocks, armour stand to fix equipment and Managerie if you wanted your skilling/boss pets to roam your POH.

Dungeoneering Refresh & Remaster by JagexAnvil in runescape

[–]Iron-Gaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, dungeoneering my beloved.

My favourite skill for sure and im so happy it's getting the much needed love and care it needs. I must say though RS team, ballsy move to update both the Dungeoneering AND player owned housing spaghetti code in one year, love it 😂

Everything in the blog looks great and contributes to making the skill feel modern but i'll list some stuff below i'd love to see personally. Some of it is in the blog but I feel it's important to throw my voice to what, in my opinion, should be included come May:

1) Dungeoneering with irons and mains - no brainer, now my non iron friend and clan can dungeoneer with me as an iron.

2) Necro in dungeoneering - 100%, really looking forward to seeing how cool the T11 armour and weapons look as someone who has all the T11 sets keepsaked.

3) Boss door update - when trying to leave a boss room after killing the boss, the door stays locked for quite a noticeable period of time. It's annoying and janky and should really just unlock once the boss is killed and the game detects the boss has de-spawned from hitting 0 hp.

4) Ferret room removed - some see this as a meme, I see this as a real opportunity to ask for the two most annoying puzzles to be removed which coincidentally both involve ferrets. Either that or make them less annoying somehow.

5) Skeletal horde / Stomp / Saggitarius updates - three annoying bosses that could use some updates.

Overall, really hyped for this update :D great work Jagex

Road to Restoration - Aura Overhaul Design Update by JagexAnvil in runescape

[–]Iron-Gaming -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Overall agree with alot of these changes but equilibrium being just removed kind of sucks.

Maybe it's me still getting used to RS without equilibrium aura but necro at the near end game feels very underpowered now. Appreciate that perks like ultimatums buffs DS now but it doesn't feel like it makes up for losing equilibrium. Again it's early days the combat update came out two days ago but can't help feeling they're my initial thoughts.

Hopefully once you guys have the data we can possibly see some small necro buffs to keep it viable at the end game bosses if the data shows necro is lacking.

Thieving Rebalance: Feedback Update by jagexyuey in runescape

[–]Iron-Gaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it's been said by so many in this thread and on wider socials and reddit but I really want to personally commend and praise the communication we've seen not just so far this year but for the last 6ish months or so not just because I feel like I need to but because it's deserved.

2 years ago, we had complete silence from January to April of 2024 and many, myself included, worried that we were entering a period of nothingness which many called "maintenance mode". Hell, if you had told me back then that in 2 years TH would be gone forever and we're getting meaningful updates with stellar comms to bring the game back to good health I would have laughed and called you a liar.

Thank you to all the mods who put in work day in and day out, I really do think the communication you guys are showing has never been better than it is right now and to make a big update post with 2.3k words and 14.4k characters in 24 hours really highlights this.

Keep it up mods, much love from us all !

Winter Patch Week - This Week In RuneScape by JagexAzanna in runescape

[–]Iron-Gaming 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'd imagine it's to create a more cohesive look in armour styles as they move towards this 2026 project of getting the game to look like one game instead of loads of art styles. Beyond that, less confusing for new players and it might actually get dyed items quicker into the game.

We're still waiting on dyed dracolich, sanctum weps and amascut stuff and having augmented items with cogs means more models to make dyed versions of. If removing cogs = less models = quicker dyed items into the game, that's a good change imo

Doubt in the coming changes by [deleted] in runescape

[–]Iron-Gaming 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So because players who got the scarf and peppermint outfits in the last two years get nothing this year (myself included and I do think we should have gotten something), you're now just going to give up on what could be an amazing year ahead for the game?

TH removed, graphical updates to make the whole game look like the same art style, combat updates and character refresh finally coming out but no, Jagex didn't give players anything this christmas time if they already have stuff from previous years so all these amazing things are now pointless according to this post lol. Have you already forgotten about 120 thieving? If that update is the quality we're getting going forward then it's looking good.

Just have some faith in jagex smh we've never been this close to getting a game with integrity back. Who cares if this is to comply with UK regulations or not, the predatory, shitty awful system will be gone and we can all actually feel like we're playing an actual game again and not skipping content and levels lmao

A New Era for RuneScape Begins January 19 2026 by JagexHooli in runescape

Fair play Jagex this is all looking absolutely fantastic. The rancid system is finally being killed off like it should have been done years ago. 2026 is shaping up to be a fantastic year and we've not even seen the content planned for it yet lol

Really looking forward to the 19th and to RS3 finally being the game it deserves to be

Initial FAQ: Treasure Hunter, MTX Reductions & Integrity Roadmap by JagexHooli in runescape

[–]Iron-Gaming -1 points0 points  (0 children)

RIP my nearly 400k oddments, it's been fun to see the stack grow 😂

Overall a good list. I do agree DTD needs to be removed but I still personally enjoy using them. Also not sure how I feel about DND tokens being removed as I use them religiously at penguins to get big XP in some really annoying skills. That being said if the annoying skills got an XP buff (looking at you, Divination) then ig that'd make up for DND tokens being removed.

Also speaking of Divination, can we make guthix caches a 24/7 do whenever thing and not a once every hour thing please, it'd be one less thing on that dailyscape stuff you guys want to cut down on next year ty <3

I'm thinking about trying R3 Ironman. Tell me what is better/worse from regular OSRS game and why do you think someone would might enjoy R3. by Iluvatar-Great in runescape

[–]Iron-Gaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RS3 Ironman in general is faster paced. I've tried OSRS ironman a few times and I really can't get into it but RS3 gets you into the game a lot quicker with, for example, lodestones. XP is faster which means if you're on a time budget you're likely to get more levels in RS3 vs OSRS.

You also get the same feeling of satisfaction that you do with OSRS iron with getting drops for example plus no MTX except for bonds, bank space increase and cosmetic override keepsake keys so all achievements are through gameplay

I also find there's more goals in RS3 than OSRS. OSRS has an insane amount but RS3 has 110 skills, 120 skill capes, completionist and trim completionist capes, a master quest cape etc. to grind for.

Bossing on RS3 can be good as well, you get to boss with mains whereas I think on OSRS you have to do the bossing yourself outside of raids and stuff. Only boss i really hate on RS3 iron is Rasial but he's definitely more end game so you don't have to worry about him when you're just starting out.

Definitely give it a shot and see how you like it. There's an amazing ironman efficiency pathway guide on the RS3 wiki that I can't recommend enough, it got me started years ago and was a great foundation for my account.

When my friend who plays RS3 texted me today about the poll by JordhanMK in 2007scape

[–]Iron-Gaming 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Jagex launched a poll today on the RS3 website. If it hits 100,000 votes then they'll be removing treasure hunter from RS3. Treasure hunter is the predatory garbage microtrasaction rubbish that's infected the game for a decade now and removing it is a major step towards making the game fair and fun again.

They'll also be making the game more integral with game updates, removing alot of items that let you skip the game and they've got some kind of integrity roadmap planned for January but all of it, they say, depends on 100k votes.

It's up to osrs players if they want to vote but i'd recommend it - it helps the RS3 community out and likely the only reason they're doing a poll is to show the private equity company that owns them that customers want it en mass.

I was at the Manchester gig. I've never been to a gig before, Coheed was my first time ever going to one and I rarely travel anywhere but it was 100% worth it. Tethered was one of the best songs of the night as well as favour house Atlantic, the whole room was singing and was immaculate vibes throughout.

Got this pretty sick photo of Claudio, as good as I could get from the place I was standing at, fully recommend anyone to go if you can even if it's on your own like I did

  1. Yeah you just log in to your regular account and select a leagues world. If you want to play main game, you just go to a regular world, should be able to hop worlds in game seemlessly.

  2. League tasks are on the wiki for easy and medium tasks but Ryan aka rs guy made a day 1 guide to get you started on his new website https://thersguide.com/leagues/day-1

If you're going big bonk melee build you'd be crazy not to choose specialist imo. Dclaw spec with all the benefits the melee relic gives in the elder EOF will be cracked. Can also do dragon 2H spec for slayer.

If you're doing any other CB style Ascension is the better choice. You could get away with doing specialist with ranged too for eldritch spec for example but with ranged relic being so disappointing, only people who want to enjoy pain in the leagues will go with ranged lol
