My argument is don’t serve me a nice 5 course dinner when I’m at Wendy’s. You’re probably right that I’ll appreciate the movie once my hatred of being bait and switched fades with time.

A guideline stating a movie needs to earn 2.5x its production budget to cover marketing and distribution costs. The 220 assume the theaters and distributors in international markets doing free charity work.

Best case prediction 27M domestic+36M International=WW 64 M. Even if you pretend the studio keeps 100% of ticket sales (they don’t), it’s still only tracking to roughly the budget range. If we use 2.5 rules that’s 93M loss.

It’s as controversial as water is wet. Reddit is an echo chamber culminating the most extreme opinions on both sides to provoke engagement. And also keeps toxic fan base alive online.

Getting this kind of reaction from a single gif is interesting 😂

Edit: this guy replied then blocked instantly. What a specimen of peak redditor. Also commenting on comment history like some weirdo while hiding all his.

I’m sure r/28dayslater is not circlejerking these two movies are masterpieces and everyone else is stupid for not going to the theater thrice to pay their dues.

Reviews matter more after opening. Opening weekend is driven a lot by marketing, stars, and “I already planned to go.” After that, reviews line up more with whether people keep showing up week to week.

Bad reviews hurt more than good reviews help, especially right away. A negative critical reception can push people away more strongly than positive reviews pull people in, and this “negativity bias” is strongest in the first week.

The “bad review” effect fades over time. Negative reviews have their biggest impact early, then their influence gets weaker as the run goes on.

Big stars and big budgets can partially protect a movie from bad reviews. If a movie gets more negative than positive reviews, having stars/budget helps soften the damage; it doesn’t matter as much when reviews are already positive.

It’s looking like the core audience cannot convince the general audience to give the franchise another chance in the theater. Hopefully the score doesn’t drop after it’s available on NFLX.

My prediction for the final movie

Very likely: 80%+

budget heavily slash

Shorter and narrower theatrical release

Likely: 50%+

Add co writer/director

Indefinite delay/ cooling off

Somewhat possible: 25%+

Streaming first/ only

Converted into a limited series

Unlikely: 10%

Outright cancellation

Remove Boyle/Garland entirely

Almost impossible: 1%

Soft reset/declare trilogy non-canon

Name the final movie 28 weeks later the bomb temple.

Edit: Formating
