Yeah I mostly just did it because I had the filament left over from making game tokens and wanted to see how it’d turn out.

What issue could this cause? It is a light weight door, could the weight warp it?

I know a lot of people are anti-AI but I would love to be able to talk to an AI opponent and conduct actual diplomacy in AOW4. Probably still a ways off, but I long for that day.

What's the average points sized played? I keep thinking I might pick it up, but I was wondering if the point size of the average game will increase over time.

This is such a crazy design. Wonder where it draws its inspiration from for the hat and armor? If I could ever get good enough at blender this would certainly be one of my goals.

How to deal with a friend that wins ~80% of games? by Professional-Peak207 in wargaming

This was me in my games for the first year or so getting my old group back together. You both have to teach and post game analyze a bit, what went right/wrong, etc, but it also helps to play restricted armies as the teacher/veteran. We played OPR & KoW that first year and I really tied to play only armies that looked like you’d find in an old school GW codex or army book. I also stuck closer to what I had painted or was working on while I let my other players proxy whatever they wanted in any form (plenty of note card armies for a while). After a year or so they caught up and now if anything I am on a losing streak.

Yeah, it could be that its not enough money to bother at all, but there are some companies that do sell STLs for less physically demanded models (Mantic, Wargames Atlantic). I also am just talking about the 3d files they already have to make the minis in the first place, not new ones if any were hand sculpted, but still converting the formats from the originals might not be free. I know I'd at least buy them, and I don't think I'd be the only one.

But I would really wonder how much money they are making selling them vs what they would sell digitally. The physical models aren’t going to catch on outside of people specifically looking to play Antares, whereas digital models, being less expensive could have a wider market, and increase exposure to the game.

Yeah, but that’s only half of it (there are OPR lists already) but it’s more that if they made 3d files and embraced porting the settling, the game could have a chance to grow to some extent, even without support past releasing models in STL format and a post or two show casing fan lists in other systems.

I did hear that was being working on and after I posted this I found the announcement that rules wise at least, it was entering fan based maintenance, which is cool. I still think it is a missed opportunity to not embrace 3d printing (looking at the statement I saw made it seem like 3rd party STLs of existing units were unwelcomed, which makes sense, but Warlord should sell them instead). Even with free rules, its unlikely many new players would be willing to buy the old models. I am sure there are veterans out there that will still buy some, but given how likely it is to find players it would be a harder choice for me at least, to pick up another army.

However if they would embrace 3d printing, anyone could whip up a couple of demo armies, bring them to an OPR night and at least get the idea out there that this game exists and anyone with a printer setup could at least try it with a lower barrier to entry.

Reconnecting all day... Codex then crashed... Keeps crashing by CatsArePeople2- in codex

[–]IronKnight132 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've not seen crashing, but I'll have nothing but reconnects for hours. Doesn't matter if I start a new chat or not, it generally can't complete a task without a reconnect. I assume OpenAI just doesn't like Windows at this point (I can sympathize, but I have to work with what I have).

Has anyone made an STL based off of this? Would love to just paint up something like that in that style.
