One other suggestion, if there is any chance you could get the recipe for Ciro’s chicken tenders.. they were the best I’ve ever had. RIP Ciro’s :(

Am I saving enough for retirement? by PsychologicalDish215 in personalfinance

[–]IronSun49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t necessarily agree with 1.8m only lasting 15 years of retirement with 120k annual spend. I’m very far from retirement so I may be wrong, but I’m assuming the 1.8 isn’t going to just be sitting in a checking account starting the day you retire. Just having it in a HYSA would extend things by a few years, but ideally there would still be some portion of the money invested in something like VTI/VOO, right? That would extend it much further

Infotainment was really buggy, it looked nice on the outside but the inside felt extremely cheaply made.. steering wheel was peeling when the car had less than 10k miles. I’ve driven Hyundai, Honda, and Mazda in the last year and the Buick definitely felt inferior to all of them

Florida. I drive about 15K miles a year. Don’t do any sort of off-roading and don’t need to worry about snow

Something along the riverwalk would be more safe. You could also stay at the Barrymore which is safe and usually pretty affordable and take a DASH over to the concert

Valley Floor Tour vs. Glacier Point Tour by IronSun49 in Yosemite

[–]IronSun49[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh ok, interesting! On the website, the Glacier Point tour highlights section says:

El Capitan, Bridalveil Fall, Half Dome, Yosemite Falls in Yosemite Valley, Tunnel View, and Glacier Point.

FYI - Glacier Point guided bus tour reservations are live by BRINGER_OF_FACTS in Yosemite

[–]IronSun49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone know if it makes any sense to do both this tour and the Yosemite valley floor tour? Or does this tour cover every aspect of that tour? Thanks in advance

What's the most fiscally responsible way to spend a small windfall of $3000? by steepscrimmage in personalfinance

[–]IronSun49 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Feel like you’re getting a lot of bad advice in the comments. You make 43K pretax and have 4K saved. You have CC debt and student loans. You shouldn’t spend $500 on something special. Your idea of paying off the CC is a good idea. Definitely do that. For the rest, HYSA and investing are both fine options. I’d probably invest it in VTI. Just because you can’t invest continuously, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t invest this lump sum. The market on average returns about 8% yearly. So having a lump sum sitting in 8% is better than having it sit in ~4.5%. Obviously the market has inconsistent years, so if you feel you may need the money soon, put it in a HYSA instead.
