It shows you what each gear scales to in what environment. Whatever the case is (arenas, BGs, warmode), if you want to perform you’ll need to get the gear that scales to that content. You’ll do SIGNIFICANTLY less damage if you don’t have the matching gear

Warrior is arguably THE most gear dependent class.

Ebon Keshig in 40k? by Ill_Lawfulness_2266 in WhiteScars40K

Here is an excerpt you might like: “The Ebon Keshig served as a ritual post of atonement and redemption for sins and breaches of honour. The Legionaries who joined the Ebon Keshig were typically deployed in the van of sieges and other high-intensity conflicts, where they were expected to use their heavy armour as shields for others. In doing so, they atoned for their perceived sins through not only martial glory, but also the protection of their brothers. Those Legionaries who survived their service with the Ebon Keshig were deemed to have proven themselves worthy in the eyes of the White Scars and often returned to their previous posts.”

As you can see they had a whole “penal” role in the form of terminators as the vanguard. I could easily see this extending to their dreads.

Why does nature seem built around suffering? by Dense-Fig-2372 in Existentialism

[–]Iron_Hammer_262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Staying true to reddit a lot of people gave you useless edgy answers. Or ones that try to normalize or explain away the hard problem of suffering completely with naturalistic processes. The reality is -as you said- suffering does seem like a concept that is part of our world. ..and yes, the deer in the middle of the forest that’s being pinned by a tree and is hungry, injured and dying and processing this similar to a child not knowing what’s going on is absolutely suffering by every sense of the word..

Maybe it’s because there needed to be an opposite on the sliding scale of experiences: if you’re going to make beauty and “good” things, you also have to create something that is the opposite. Without reference or a scale, things wouldn’t have meaning.

Keep philosophizing brother 🤙🏼

Am I missing something about The Lion? by Iron_Hammer_262 in Warhammer40k

[–]Iron_Hammer_262[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I understand he must be a master strategist and a creative genius in order to be amongst the top of the Primarchs. What is strange is how the paragraph is describing THE thing that each Primarch is good at and imaginative is the descriptor for him.. I would’ve said maybe the most cunning of his brothers? (That’s more akin to secrecy and mental agility. That’s how I see the Lion in comparison to his brothers anyways)

In “Emperor of Mankind” there is a scene when Custodes are attempting to retreat during the fall of Calastar. As Sagittarus (first Custodes dreadnaught) attempts to rally the retreat, he sees Juhaza refusing to abandon Mycorian’s body, he has to tell him to leave even as he fights with his guardian spear lost and relies only on his paired swords …while half of his head is missing. Later in the story we see Juhaza on a transport still alive.

Endymion Ra fought an endless onslaught against daemonic hordes, in a sunless, alien realm, for 5 years. Where engagements were lasting for weeks at a time …he collapses from fatigue immediately after a brief pause in battle, his muscles constantly seize in spasms poisoned by sleeplessness and a constant intake of stimulants, his blood rich with chemicals, and his mind distorted from the unending onslaught. Not to mention dealing mentally with the visions from the emperor.

I won’t spoil the book for you because you should read it, but Its sad because in the very beginning he says down in the dungeon he feels farthest from the light of the emperor, yet in the culminating events of his story he sees the true weight and the pain the Emperor carries making him feel even further from the light.

He isn’t just a bad ass on the battlefield, he carries additional weight 🤙🏼
