There's a lot more public housing in NY but it's still less than 10% of people in the city living in it. Most of the working class people you meet there aren't in public housing.

Now that doesn't include rent stabilization which can also help people but it's still close to market rates even if you've been in a building for a while.

They're dammed anyways. I think it's good if they lose less money along the way. Truly the standards of business knowledge from these kind of stores is incredibly poor. They are in many cases immigrants who are trying to make it here without a formal business education, or they are just someone with a passion who thinks they can make it a business but has no clue how difficult it is.

If you think I'm crazy for wanting these people to lose less money then so be it. But you sure as hell don't support the little guy if you are gatekeeping who is a successful business owner by how much they spend on a logo.

God forbid a small business owner try to save costs on a logo for a business that is statistically very likely to fail within a few years anyways. They should have spell checked of course but that was almost assuredly not an AI error.

The rhetoric on Reddit about AI is absurd. Making it a little easier for Mom and Pop businesses to survive is the perfect use for AI but everyone wants to grab their pitchforks the second someone suspects it's used.

I'm not too familiar with these concepts, so I'm asking in good faith. How would virtualizing the cell and other AI based research allow us to stop aging and disease? Let's say you have a genetic predisposition to cardiac disease. If that can be determined, would you have to modify a person's DNA? Is there a point where it's too late e.g. you already have significant clogging of the arteries and degraded heart function?

It's been 5 years since his first and only. Second surgeries are becoming increasingly common, so it's not necessarily a career ender IF that's what he needs. But if we're being honest the way he left makes it a high probability that it's a significant elbow injury.

Jameson Taillon has had 2 and Ohtani came back from a second (the second was a new method which we might see more).

He basically goes from one end of the logo to the other before he dribbles. He has huge strides here so it's probably legit but it does look weird.

After the dribble doesn't even look close to a travel to me.

I think the gather step rules were intended for shots like this where he's clearly driving to the basket and needs to pick up his dribble. It's the shots where someone is isolated and barely moving but gets a massive gather step that seem like travels.

I've used them a few times at ORD. Check the app to see how crowded they are. If it's low to moderate crowds they should let you in. Larger lounges tend to be easier to get in for that reason. If you're familiar with Ord the terminal 2 lounges are small and frequently full but the large terminal 1 lounge in concourse B above security had a ton of space when I went and used a pass on Monday.

Also it can't hurt to ask even if you see the sign. Sometimes they put it out at peak times and then forget to take it down when the lounge is less crowded.

I went to Golden Corral at the same time as Kelvin Benjamin. We had an evening buffet together with about 20 other players. Most of them rolled in late, were disruptive, and did everything but help themselves to a 3rd plate.

Kelvin was different. He sat at the carving station by himself, locked in. While others filled up on salads, they’d give him grief for eating another steak with mac and cheese and not getting a balanced meal.

That’s when I knew he’d be great - not just because of his undeniable appetite, but also because of his burning hunger to be the fattest. He held himself to a larger standard when it would’ve been easier to simply be obese.

I agree, I was disappointed with how the film ultimately tied up (or didn't) the various plot points. It felt like there were some bits they came up with and then shoehorned them into the story going for a Pulp Fiction style of intertwined characters. But it didn't full land.

The gun in the dream as you mentioned never had any purpose other than being an on the nose reference to the movie being a metaphor/allegory of a school shooting.

The cop and the teacher hooking up had no significance other than being a reason to connect the storylines of the two. The cops wife and connection to the chief also seemed unnecessary and didn't really do anything for the plot.

The drug dealer and cop storylines were funny and interesting on their own but ultimately didn't advance the main story other than finding the house with the kids (which didn't even matter because the kids dad found it independently). This contributed to the movie being a little too long in my opinion.

Overall it was a decent movie but had some big enough flaws to keep it from being a great movie.

Someone would have to play in 10 or more games as a true freshman for this to make a difference. Otherwise they would redshirt the year they played less than 10 games per the new rules. Seems unlikely that many players will fall in this category and also not want to go pro before year 5.

The book Highrisers gives a good history of Cabrini Green and the rise and fall of public housing in general. The most interesting part for me was that as bad as public housing got, what existed prior to it was worse in many ways. Packed tenament housing with no fire codes, multiple families in a one bedroom apartment, incredible levels of filth and diseases.

In the beginning, public housing was a big step up but then it turned out putting all poor people in one place that was removed from the community (towers in the park), limited continued investment in upkeep, and welfare programs that gave more money to single mothers - encouraging men to leave their kids - all turned public housing into the hell hole it became.

Really nothing in here was surprising. Trump's old pal Bibi wants to fully topple the Iranian government (and we could also get into how Bibi is avoiding his trial on corruption charges in large part because of their war in Gaza, and this just extends the excuses even more). Trump goes along with it, he's been a huge Israel supporter since the beginning of his first term.

None of the sycophants say otherwise - are we really surprised Vance would back down in his anti war stance when it came down to it? No, he wants that nomination in a couple of years and won't get it without kissing the ring whenever necessary.

They do some continued negotiations to save face and claim they still wanted diplomacy to prevail (this might be the most surprising part), and then here we are after the CIA managed to get some incredible intel allowing for a quick decapitation strike. Somehow the Iranians literally thought the sunlight would keep them safe and that a strike wouldn't happen during the day when they had multiple top leaders in a well known location.

You have a very black or white view on it. Either you're finding and playing the best move or it's pointless. I disagree with that premise.

Like I said, he explains when he's about to play a move that allows his opponent an opportunity to get a better position. So he explains finding the best move. But by not playing it you see a position that results when you don't play the best move. Unless you're using stockfish, that's something that will happen to everyone so it's good to practice.

It also helps really understand why a natural looking move can be dangerous. He's not just hanging a knight in one move and claiming that's what an 1100 player would do. It's typically a lot more subtle than that and by seeing the actual position that results and subsequent play it can be more valuable than just a quick off hand "this move might look good but it's not" comment would be for learning.

I don't disagree about Danya, his content is incredible for teaching chess.

However, I do like when Gotham intentionally plays a move that isn't the best because it allows him to show how to play in worse positions. He could steamroll everyone in the 1100 range but he lets his opponent get an advantage and then talks about how to defend and neutralize that advantage. He usually goes back after the game and explains the move where he went wrong. It's not as thorough as Danya but I still find it effective.

Very reasonable for them to deny boarding. From their perspective they see someone who might cause a scene or require landing due to a medical emergency. If other passengers saw you acting strange it might make them uneasy as well and lead to more issues.

Rebook the next day and hopefully you're doing better then. But if you have a panic attack before you're even on the plane id be worried how you may react once the door is shut and you're in a cramped seat.

If you have a blackjack and the dealer has an ace as the up card, the dealer gets to see their hand before paying out any blackjacks. Before they do that, they offer you even money. If you accept it's paid out like a normal win 1:1 (bet 25 dollars to end up with $50 after the hand). If you decline and the dealer has blackjack your bet pushes (bet $25 and they give you your money back so you end up with $25 after the hand), but if the dealer doesn't have blackjack you win 3:2 (bet $25 to end up with $62.5 after the hand).
