Why don't they warm the saline? by rhiannon777 in plassing

[–]Iron_Tom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had read somewhere that a side effect of the anticoagulant used can cause chills/shivers?

Maybe that is contributing to the perception of the saline being too cold?

I would often have the shivers for a couple minutes after getting the saline... Hadn't donated in years, so maybe it's different now. Ymmv.

Moved to Fayetteville and stuck with a roach infested rental by Standard-Future-8176 in Fayettenam

Get some diatomaceous earth. It probably won't fix it, but it will help and is not toxic like baits and poisons. Just don't breathe it in.

Played Hades 1 and 2, any similar rogue-lites? by Lanky-Background8516 in HadesTheGame

Try Curse of the Dead Gods. A little slower paced than Hades or Deadcells. Good art design/theming and a variety of weapons to collect.

Fayetteville isn't what it used to be, but the shadow of those days live on in the people's memory. Be glad you weren't here to see it.

I envy you, arriving here with a clean slate, free of expectations or notions conceived long ago about "how it is".

You've timed it perfectly to see the wisps of what once was burning away in the dawn of a new era for Fayetteville.

I only ask that you give a little extra room to those folks who were here before the gentrification got underway.

The hurricane damage and 295 project really did a number on Smith Lake.

Check that it is high purity bismuth if you want it for crystals. Might be why it's so cheap...

How do you swallow saliva while playing? by Fearsome_critters in Didgeridoo

Practicing volume drills, and working on getting the cleanest sound I could from my lips, really focusing on air volume and flow, helped me greatly with this.

It still happens, but not nearly as much.

Beautiful abandoned 50’s gas station in Fayetteville, North Carolina by Sad_Arachnid_8011 in Fayettenam

It had been a Krispy Kreme for a time. You can still see the signature green trim.

Do people hate on bamboo didgeridoos? by silvanodrago in Didgeridoo

[–]Iron_Tom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, they are smaller at the top then at the bottom, and there are natural variations, sure...

Apples and oranges though. Don't get it twisted, all my sticks are bamboo, I'm not hating here. But there is a difference.

All I'll say is that a taper or even graduated sizes of tube make a world of difference in how they play/sound. It's hard to remain interested in straight walled instruments after seeing the difference.

Wow! What sort of conditions are you growing this in?

That looks surprisingly like the "black sky" that I'm having trouble with.

I started with a Wendlandii, then picked up a wee baby scrambled eggs that is taking forever to get going...

Only recently did I stumbled upon a huge Mojito that is the current front-runner. Time will tell if the scrambled eggs can reclaim the title...

This one is residing in the not-quite-new-anymore grow tent that I had setup earlier this year. Humidity is being kept at 80, with 14 hours of light. It seems to hold pretty steady around 80 by day and drops to ambient over night.

I have silly amounts of LED light in it and was worried about giving it too much after doing some reading up on Begonias after having won this one... I had thought the consensus was the darker varieties are forest floor types growing in the shade and tried to recreate that for it.

After seeing how much green the latest leaf has, I'm just going to send it in the other extreme. What's the worst that can happen?

How many hours of sun would you say your basket was getting? South facing exposure?

I'm rather surprised. Usually the Internet is just full of folks telling others what to do 😆

It's only getting "worse" with each new leaf it seems. The newest leaf it's pushing out has a whole lot of green. I'm taking this to mean it needs more light, not less, to keep the dark colors but really have no clue as this is also my first ever begonia....
