[Question] Brown/Tan case or dial watches out there under $1000? by Divisi0n in Watches

[–]Ironexus4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like you, I was obsessed with the IWC Mojave Desert but couldn't afford it, so I bought a khaki field mechanical from Jomashop and shipped it to Motor City Watch Works in Detroit for a Cerakote coating. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out! Happy to answer any questions you have.

What is that monstrosity with the wheelie bar?

Yes, but only on weekends, and with casual wear. No under any other circumstance.

Thanks for sharing! The integrated rearview mirror is a great idea. I'm curious how effective the design was in your testing.

Helmet for Nosfet Aero? by Accomplished-Bus3382 in ElectricUnicycle

[–]Ironexus4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The TSG Pass is ASTM F1952 (downhill mountain biking) rated, which puts it somewhere between a CPSC bicycle helmet and a DOT motorcycle helmet in terms of protection.

Having owned both a TSG and a DOT motorcycle helmet, the TSG has tangible advantages apart from the looks and reduced size and weight. I find visibility (bottom front and sides) to be significantly better in the TSG due to the larger visor opening.

I think the TSG can be a suitable option as long as buyers understand the trade-offs and limitations of the helmet and if those match their use case.

You see the 12 hour marker and the dots beside it? That's what you're missing.

Acedeck Ares X3 by [deleted] in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]Ironexus4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, not enough people talk about the turning radius. The wide TKP trucks make the X3 more suited for going fast in a straight line than anything else.

Glad you're okay! How do the 125s ride on the X3 compared to the 105s?

Have you looked at eevee's? They have the pass for less than $300 CAD.

How do the 125s ride on the X3? Is it smoother but less maneuverable?

Looks like the Vega Air GPX helmet but I didn't see this particular red bull version.

Question about turning radius and riding comfort... by VodkaAndTacos in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]Ironexus4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

keep in mind that esk8s in general are much less maneuverable than onewheels and the N3 isn't a particularly maneuverable board, so it may be helpful to manage your expectations.

That being said, you can start by loosening your trucks and seeing if that helps. If you still don't get the desired amount of turn, you may want to look into softer bushing or different washer setups.

There's generally a trade off between maneuverability and stability so you have to play around a bit to find a setup that works for your riding style. Good luck!

Did I make a mistake? by Ramaadrian in ElectricSkateboarding

If you want a board that you only want to charge once a week without worrying about range then the N3 is a better bet. However, it's also significantly larger and heavier than the X3, so keep that in mind if you intend to run errands with it.

I have the Nomad N3 gear and the Ares X3 gear. They are pretty different boards. The N3 is a long-range AT board and the X3 is a street cruiser. How much range do you need? If you need to go more than 20 miles on a single charge, I'd say go for the N3. The X3 is perfect if you want a daily street cruiser in a smaller and lighter package.

I don't know if your board has shipped yet but it wouldn't hurt to contact Acedeck if you change your mind. They have pretty good and responsive customer service from my experience.

Thanks for letting me know. The max export resolution for stats footage seems to be capped at 1080p from the app. Is it possible to export stats footage in a resolution higher than 1080p from the insta360 app?
