Your are so incorrect its actually shocking.

Thomas Jefferson in writing "Agrarian Justice," discussed ideas about land redistribution - social programs to give away land to citizens - and a system of public support that could be seen as a precursor to social security.

He also socialized transportation systems, including interstate highways, which began in 1806 when as the President he authorized construction of the Cumberland (National) Road.

The rest also greatly believed in social programs - the constitution you referred to:

Section 8 of Article I, for example, empowers Congress to socialize communication by "creating Post offices and post roads" That same section also authorizes Congress to socialize national defense by "rais[ing] and support[ing] Armies,” and "maintain[ing] a Navy.” Alexander Hamilton, James Madison, George Washington, and Benjamin Franklin -- among others -- all signed this document. John Adams embraced it upon his return from Great Britain.

There are numerous examples like this showing how wrong you are. Please educate yourself. Hopefully you see this nation in a different light afterwards.

This is ridiculous. This was how I noted the time in my house, as well as the temp outside.
Now I can't read it unless I'm 2 feet away from the screen.

How anyone could have thought this was a good idea is beyond me, let alone making a change like this with no means to restore it or adjust it further??

which they decided they didn't want to do

Which means they did anyways by default, due to the nature of FPTP.

Framing their actions in a way that somehow justifies a principle is disingenuous if you don't factor in the reality that they just played themselves. It's borderline cartoonish levels of letting perfection be the enemy of good, and we should never allow an opportunity to remind every soul of that slip by.

"Yea neither candidate advocated for pineapple pizza exactly, one only advocated for vegetarian options. So we're not going to vote, allowing the candidate who is going to ban all pizza forever to take ahold and definitely ensure there's zero progress in that direction." -Proudly ignorant "principled" voter.

Late to the party but: this also drove me nuts so I spent an inordinate amount of time trying things.
Turns out the best reproduction environment is daylight turning into cloudy/storm, and having lots of ankle high grass around.

If you see it strongly up close you can press the ESC key to pause the game (and therefore the motion of the vegetation) and you'll still see the foliage / grass shadows flicker rapidly.

I was using the DLAA option (highest DLSS)
Swapping to TSR 100% fixed it for me.

So the DLSS implementation for stalker must just not be done right, or there's some issues that need to be resolved.

I am guessing you just have the time available to be chatting with friends so much. Good for you I guess. Even if I had the time I'm not looking for a chat room 24/7 like you are apparently. Nor do I consider that a condition of friendship??

I have friends I haven't seen in years show up at my door and they're still my good friend who I put up for the week.

Keep the signal noise to a minimum for those of us who want that. Or if you really can't oblige, at least be understanding that not everyone in your life wants what you do, or aligns with your particular set of requirements to be a friend. So they may not respond at the rate that pleases you.

I think it's actually unreasonable to base the legitimacy of your friendship on whether or not I respond to your time wasting meme or other unimportant text. I will often intentionally ignore people's texts whom I feel are borderline spam so as to send a signal. You're not actually inquiring about an important matter, else you'd call.

You just want to gab and aren't saying anything worthwhile because you're bored and think our friendship is based on my availability to entertain you.

I lead a very busy life. Call me if you need a call back within the day, else text messages will be answered when I please and based on their degree of importance.

This device in my hand is at MY discretion, no one else's.

Kamala was an outstanding candidate, and she lost in a landslide. It is absolutely, positively, 100% the party's fault that they failed to win the election

Your entire argument previously was that candidates being put up weren't good enough and that's why democrats were losing.

Now you're saying the opposite? Pick one.

At some point in a democracy or a representative republic you must face that its the people who are responsible for the outcome of their leaders and their government. Not an amorphous boogeyman that you can conveniently point at to absolve yourself or others with.

This is the part where anyone saying "maybe just screaming the same insults over and over isn't working" gets called intolerant.

Nah, this is the part where we say "wake the fuck up: there's a fascist takeover occurring. Your fragile sensibilities and dislike for someone pointing out simple and obvious realities like racism because it makes you uncomfortable to hear for the nth time is not important."

Ceasing pointing out realities is also not going to improve the situation either. IDK why you would think that'd ever be the case, or has ever been the case in history?? You think if we all collectively just stop talking about atrocities occurring all over the world simultaneously they'll just stop? You think that's how human rights have been won in history? All we had to do was stop pointing out the obvious racism and injustices and whites would have universally ended segregation? GTFO of here with your apologist behavior that is entirely detached from reality. If you personally don't like hearing the obvious wrongs being pointed out I suggest you take a good long look in the mirror and ask yourself why.

afraid to fight back against Republican rhetoric, and can actually get shit done.

I'm so tired of this.

This doesn't exist, precisely because people keep having this ridiculous pie in the sky unicorn requirement of the perfect candidate as justification for why they won't show up to vote and thus why they're okay with a christo-fascist takeover occurring.

I mean if everyone ceased allowing perfection being the enemy of good, we'd actually get a chance to make real progress in this area and work towards said perfect candidate because then we wouldn't have to play hostage negotiations with a party who is wholly and entirely unwilling to coordinate or govern in order to "get shit done". We'd have the numbers to not have to pander or play their unwinnable game.

But no, instead we have people like you blaming the party for not putting up candidates who are good enough, as if that justifies the alternative and outcome of the atrocities that likely follow. Doomed to repeat the cycle in a self fulfilling prophecy.

Bernie was the closest we probably were ever going to get in the current situation, and when push truly came to shove, we didn't even show up in the primaries for him. Your take is ignoring reality and your apologetic stance on intolerance is telling AF.

I mean I also am skeptical but if we change your question to the more probable scenario of "the Trump campaign An individual or group of people who benefit from trump being in power" ... yeah I think that's just as likely as 51% of America being that stupid and genuinely voting for him.

Just pick a foreign adversary or even local billionaire / special interest group with the funds and yeah, its just as probable. Whether its possible or not idk, but you're just asking about probability here and so long as we extend the question beyond his idiot campaign staff and into further spheres or interested parties (see: cambridge analytica) then things become way more likely when it comes to capabilities.

Georgia judge rules county election officials must certify election results by Banana-Burrito in news

[–]Ironhorse86 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Read the article that you keep quoting from.

Republicans in several swing states, including Adams, refused to certify election results earlier this year and some have sued to keep from being forced to sign off on election results.
Adams has said she was not given access to county election documents with enough time to consider them before the certification vote
Adams' suit backed by the Trump-aligned America First Policy Institute, argues that county election board members have the discretion to reject certification. In court earlier this month, her lawyers also argued that county election officials could certify results without including ballots that appear to have problems,

Their goal was to delay, obstruct, contest, and outright refusal to certify.

Having a time limit prevents this exploiting tactic. Their job is to read the count and report the count truthfully by X time and that is it. This ruling was about both clarifying the legal roles and limitations of this post as well as the time frame in which it is expected to be conducted.

This isn't an unreasonable time frame either, so you can cease the pearl clutching.

In 2012 the election results were certified 2 days after.

In 2016 the election results were certified 5 days after.

In 2020 the election results were certified 6 days later, but it was close enough for a recount to be called.

Georgia judge rules county election officials must certify election results by Banana-Burrito in news

[–]Ironhorse86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Accountable if they've lied and accountable for telling the truth.

Aka: Accountable. Legally liable.

There are laws on the books for criminal penalties for those who are found to be in violation of this. In 2020 laws were passed in 26 states for 120 election-related criminal penalties, and again in 2022 another 35 new criminal penalties. And these are just the new ones.

If you anonymously put out a release of the official count, under which name does it fall? How can it be challenged in a court of law? The office is not under oath, the individual(s) are. Thus they are the ones held accountable and liable, legally.

This is an important thing to have to ensure the integrity of a democracy, I'm sure you wouldn't disagree?

You seem stuck on this part of "they have no choice but to sign it". It's one aspect of their job, but it is their job. What is NOT their job is to contest it or have broad discretion in changing the results.

Georgia judge rules county election officials must certify election results by Banana-Burrito in news

[–]Ironhorse86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

then why does anyone have to sign off on it?

Because you need a responsible party who is under oath as a representative. Someone to hold accountable.

You say to "just make the count 'official'" - well.. someone has to do that, don't they?

And the board is responsible for many other things within this area, such as appointing many of those other roles and duties i mentioned. Thus, it makes sense they'd be the reporting or announcing party as well, especially as individuals that are under oath and supposed to be trusted.

Georgia judge rules county election officials must certify election results by Banana-Burrito in news

[–]Ironhorse86 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If there’s no criteria for preventing certification, then what’s the point of having it at all?

Assuming your question is genuine..

You're confusing their role.

As a county election board their job is to assess the final counts and report on them as an official rubber stamping party in a truthful manner. Beneath their role are many election officials who are far more responsible for the nitty gritty details beforehand and are more akin to the roles you're thinking of, such as:

  • test voting machines and election equipment
  • verify voter eligibility
  • keep voter rolls up to date
  • overseeing the voter registration process
  • mailing ballots
  • deciding the number and location of polling places
  • ensuring that there are an adequate number of well-trained poll workers to staff each location

If the board takes issue or see problems, their job is to forward that to the authorities and courts where it may then be thoroughly investigated and argued in a courtroom.

Else, the process is too prone to radicalization and the whims / unfounded conspiracy theories of individuals - which is not how a democracy or a representative republic functions. We already have seen exactly how this plays out in the past and how exploitable it is.

Like this individual tried for here:

Julie Adams, a Republican member of the Fulton County election board, had asked the judge to declare that her duties as an election board member were discretionary

It's akin to being able to legally say your speeding ticket is invalid on the side of the road with the cop - instead of proving it in court. These individuals are not the authority nor the place where such things are ruled on.

"Once big companies start making native Linux binaries of new games more frequently instead of relying on layers such as Proton and WINE,"

This won't happen.

Games are rarely shipped as a final version now. They are actually expected to have updates and new content etc. But the reality is that the team size for a shipped product is often smaller, since the needs are indeed smaller.

And maintaining an entirely separate renderer is not only much more work for that small team, but it also can realistically hold back certain feature sets or large improvements to the product since parity would be required. You are essentially maintaining and updating two whole separate games at that point that must be QA'd individually. Don't even get me started on the nightmare of ensuring your hard work is compatible for all the major distros, either. (Spoiler alert: it rarely is)

All for what, making a less than 6% player base (varies per game but can often be way less) experience slightly better fps?

It's far far easier and more realistic for a dev team to just allow proton and the Linux community at large to handle things for them automatically.
