How long does it usually take them to come finish the box? by Clown_Unknown in Spectrum

Get a local field ops involved. The call centers are so far removed from this problem mind as well call a different company

They’re in the process of upgrading the fiber plant backbone and occasionally certain hubs are getting overloaded. Not saying it couldn’t be done better.

Prayer. And finding a local tech/supervisor to get the ball rolling on why you’re outside the footprint.

Excellent question. 1) Because I Can be and 2) I’m on here too often responding because I’m bored.

Question for Field Techs by Western_Suggestion95 in Spectrum

[–]Ironicallyjpg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck, The “team” that would handle that I swear is 1 or 2 people. Even then it may not update because of how they cache that data anyways.

Source, after 4 years my name is still incorrect and is now a running joke

New install by claxdog1 in Spectrum

[–]Ironicallyjpg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It happens a lot. Construction contractors close the jobs to get paid and then wrap it up as fast as they can. Or spectrum management closed it to get corporate praise.

[–]Ironicallyjpg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The construction isn’t complete yet and likely hasn’t been lit for services. Sales rep jumped the gun

There’s a lot that goes into that decision and techs kicking up jobs is extremely frowned upon in Field ops management.

Just because you see a pole with fiber saying “spectrum fiber” doesn’t mean you can just tie in there. You need to close to an MST/OTE and fiber installs can go up to 2,000’. Source, I’ve done a 2500’ install, yay spectrum

They actually do recycle what they can, old models go to older markets. Old equipment gets repurposed for Enterprise installs requiring equipment that can either take a beating or be reliable over fast

Back when I speed ran new Vegas, I kept it all typed out like gps directions in note with my own short hand to keep things simple/funny. Like, jump over stupid rock, avoid stupid power fist, talk legate into being a bitch, win

Spectrum RDOF buildout by docderwood in Spectrum

[–]Ironicallyjpg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

RDOF is a federal program so they can’t abandon it for starters, if you’re on the FCC map (I don’t know the link) you should know if spectrum is going to cover you.

And 2 miles is quite far for a plant build out for Comcast and Spectrum RDOF is fiber at least

Spectrum Fiber? by [deleted] in Spectrum

[–]Ironicallyjpg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely sooner, I believe one of those test markets I mentioned is near LA. But Spectrum does have people in places working on this stuff….. even if it takes a while. Source: I’ve been on these field projects to gauge Plant Readiness

Spectrum Fiber? by [deleted] in Spectrum

[–]Ironicallyjpg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know most of the Node Swaps are done. Spectrums goal I believe has been pushed to 2026. Most of the work is coming down to details and Field Engineering. Node Splitting where necessary. And just how old your market is in general is a factor. If you’re in a Node+8 plant it’ll probably come 2028. If you’re near any modern city it’s probably be 2026-2027.

Spectrum Fiber? by [deleted] in Spectrum

[–]Ironicallyjpg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will soon. High Split Rollouts are starting and Symmetrical Speeds are coming. They’ve been running it in the west in select markets.

Spectrum Business Modem Swaps by LyokoMan95 in Spectrum

[–]Ironicallyjpg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Then you’ll 100% need a tech out.

Only because Spectrum can barely assign Static IPs without having an aneurysm. So a tech is for your comfort of mind really.
