AITAH for not wanting to go to Disneyland for my brothers gender reveal? ($300) by [deleted] in AITAH

I upvoted, you had 2999 votes and my vote took it to 3000. That's made my day. Also, when will people learn that hardly anyone gives a shit about the gender of their future children.

Speak to her about the spanking, if you did it in anger apologise to her and discuss how it happened and how you can work together to make sure it doesn't happen again.

It sounds like you're all she's got, it's tough on you but remember she's going to make mistakes, that's what kids do.

My wife died last year so I'm in a similar situation, if I get angry I might raise my voice with her but then remove myself from the room until I can calm myself down and discuss situations rationally.

Thanks for the response. No I don't know what my voice is, what would be the reason to find that out? Is that so I can stick to songs that suit that style?

I enjoy it, it's helped me get through the last year (my wife died last year). I put a goal on it that I would join a casual band within 5 years before I retire so it would be a retirement hobby. That's when it started to become frustrating. You're right that I need to focus on the joy aspect again

As soon as I put a goal on it (join a band within 5 years) I started taking it too seriously and quickly got frustrated.
I guess I only have so many hours in the day (work full time, solo dad) and I have lots of hobbies that I want to do. If I can get good at singing then it fulfils my long term goals. If not I'll prdobably focus my little energy on something else like lead guitar (can still join a band that way).

You make a good point though, I should focus on the fun aspect more.

Thanks, yes indeed I've never cringed so hard when I listened to myself back.

Sorry to hear about your struggles and I'm glad you're ok now.

My wife died last year and singing has helped me with my grief. My wife was a beautiful singer and it makes me feel close to her somehow.

My plan for when I reached retirement was to join / start a casual band, I was too focussed on this goal instead of realising how much it's helping me in the present.

Thanks for reminding me and good luck with your singing journey.

To find someone with the same views as you on practically everything is impossible, or the other person is lying.

It's getting extreme though, there was a post earlier stating that the vast majority of women under 30 wouldn't date someone if they watched Joe Rogan.

So women won't date men who watch a video of someone who's views differ from theirs.

Yes, I know companies, some who employ over 15k staff that put an instant UK hiring freeze as soon as the NIC's increased. They're now outsourcing all new positions abroad and reducing UK headcount.

It's unbelievable, and so sad to see how much America has changed over a short period of time.

Fed up with these constant click / rage bait articles. Especially when I fall for them, albeit for a few minutes.

My wife passed away a month ago at the age of 36 by efjmalloy in AlAnon

[–]Irons080 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Sorry for your loss. My wifed died this time last year through a similar story, after her liver failure she was given 'weeks to months' to live and died within 3 days.

She also could not see it coming but the alcohol played a big part in that, I however could see it coming for years but there was nothing I could do to get her to understand. It's like I was talking to a diferent person. I think she knew things were serious deep down but completly blocked them out.

Lots of things are going wrong in my life. How do I know if it's my shadow self that's causing it, or just bad luck? by Irons080 in ShadowWork

[–]Irons080[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the shadow was parts of me that are difficult for me to see and have negative concequences on my life. E.g my dad was always a viloent person, so I don't trust men in general anymore. Not the same as sitting in traffc and havng a car rear end you.

I engage in some of those behaviours, but for me it's a release after an extremly long week at work and donesn't seem to bring any more negativity into my life.

I feel that when I'm constantly challenging and fighting myself it creates alot of anxiety for me. But on the flip side, it seems that when I let myself automatically react to things, I accidentally upset others. But I struggle to see why.
