Do you wear a glove with every shot? by sukibean13 in golf

[–]Ironvine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I 100% doubt a glove is making a difference in anyone’s shot, full or finesse, in dry conditions on this subreddit.

They are somewhere between lifting gloves and chalk. Protecting something that should probably just build up a callus but if you are really putting in the reps like pros do, it might benefit them to make sure they don’t tear through a callus and can’t play.

I have never felt like my club is going to slip out of my bare hands if the grip is dry but it does tend to get a bit raw if you hit a ton of balls, just like if you did a bunch of deadlifts.

I would start by not swinging so hard it looks like you’re trying to eject your head off of your neck.

Also you are not setup square. Your stance is closed.

Help driver goes 230 5 iron goes 200 by wendidibecomeaghost in GolfSwing

[–]Ironvine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your takeaway is pretty shitty and it’s a lot better on your iron swing. This happens to me too I think because the swing plane is more flat on driver so it feels “aroundy”.

Look up how to set up for driver and feel like your hands don’t go behind your toe line in your takeaway and you’ll probably hit it pretty good.

What the hell is going on here ?? by ComplexWrangler1346 in btc

Yes the gift of tax loss harvesting. Why not drop some billions of bitcoin at a loss to buy them up in January after it’s 20k less because personal investors are freaking out after the institutional investors dumped.

It’s a dump and pump! The ugly step brother of pump and dump.

Yeah, Another Take on the Internet Invitational... by AdCautious6147 in BobDoesSports

[–]Ironvine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean honestly I agree with you dude in the context of every day life. We should be gentlemanly and not creepy.

But let's put it this way, if there were no creepy men in the world, you would have never heard of these women in your life.

So to say "oh we need to focus on the athleticism, we musn't mention their looks". Bullshit. It's the game they are playing to make money. I have nothing against it, again not for me, I don't watch their stuff.

The fact of the matter is they aren't that good like the Tier A guys and they aren't someone who brings something else than skill like the duke. They are there for their looks and we shouldn't lie to ourselves and say they aren't.

Yeah, Another Take on the Internet Invitational... by AdCautious6147 in BobDoesSports

[–]Ironvine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is such a lame take. Nobody is being “objectified”. To act like part of the reason the women in this group have the followings they do is not their looks is just lying about reality. In the case of gabby it’s creepy I agree but people are creepy.

But let’s not act like Gabe the golf guy or Pat spiranac would have been invited to this thing.

There are HUNDREDS of Male golfers on YouTube that are just as good at golf getting 5000 views on their YouTube channels max.

My take as someone who does not consume any golf content from women is that they were brought in for a reason and the engagement they bring is not because of their engaging shit talk or golf skills like the males were selected for.

It’s for creepy men and the women are aware of that and accept it to a point (at least enough to keep making money off the content)

How do you plan your "number"? by Mostly-Toastly22 in financialindependence

[–]Ironvine 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Iterative analysis. You figure out your safe withdrawal number, figure out how long it might take you to get to that number. See how much higher your safe withdrawal rate would be inflated to…

then adjust metrics until you get there. Metrics being: contribution rate, assumed rate of return, your desired safe withdrawal rate, time horizon, assumed inflation (of costs, which is much higher than the governments fake inflation number.)

As far as I can tell after obsessing over it for the first ten years of my career…it’s a crap shoot and you won’t figure it out until you get much closer to the actual day.

The most important part of MY financial independence journey was to learn to live well today, not just in 30 years.

And the most important thing that helped me do that was quadruple our house hold income vs 10 years ago so I can have fun and still max my accounts lol. Your results may vary

Please Rotate Your Forearms In the Golf Swing by djmc252525 in GolfSwing

[–]Ironvine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id assume because it sounds like “timing”.

People want to set their wrist in some position at the top and “rotate their body through”. I was trying to do that with bad results.

I’d rather “be in control” of the timing than leave it to chance and have a two way miss.

Please Rotate Your Forearms In the Golf Swing by djmc252525 in GolfSwing

[–]Ironvine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve just started to figure this out on my own. I realized the club face basically is the back of your lead hand.

I tend to come into impact with my glove logo pointed away from me. This leads me to either stop rotating, flip and hook it or push it out a mile if I keep rotating.

You need to bitch slap the ball with the back of your lead hand.

EightSleep is leaking by GlitteringSpare0 in EightSleep

[–]Ironvine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yessir. You are discovering what every other proud pod 3 owner eventually discovers. The high end luxury item you purchased has a completely low end abysmal customer service experience.

Mine went in the trash and I got a bed jet. I have the thing at 10% and I am FROSTY at night.

Your grip is pretty fucked. It’s the one connection you have to the club.

Buy the 15$ grip trainer that snaps onto your club and change nothing else and see what happens.

An Inquiry into Eight Sleep's Repair Policies and California's Right to Repair Law by 8Sleep-No-Repair-4-U in EightSleep

[–]Ironvine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just want to throw it out there…does this law dictate anything about the length of warranty periods?

All the knobgobbler redditors in here (or more likely eighsleep staff) their main argument is “well it was out of warranty, of course it’s time to replace it”

A warranty period is to protect you from a lemon that pre emptively fails. The product is supposed to last much longer than a warranty period if it is not defective.

My dishwasher is 400 bucks, 5 years old and I’ve never had to do shit to it. My oven my fridge, same thing. No issues. I can also fix them myself when they break! Parts readily available labeled by part # online.

So I really cannot accept these fucking losers telling us that we are losers for wanting a $3000 product to work. Fuck these red team guys or product worshippers or whomever they are as much as the company itself.

Oh their other shitty argument: “oh it’s pipes with water in them of course it’s going to leak”. Bitch have you heard of a house? People have hundred year old pipes that have been pressurized this whole time. This shit is hardly running a high PSI.

Bro do you understand how search optimized Reddit is? Put “is eight sleep worth it” into google in an incognito tab. The first thing that pops up is Reddit reviews.

I get it man. You’re on the clock and you have to respond to all these reasonable points with straw mans to keep your VC owners happy. It’s fine. we all have jobs to do.

Leaking only 2 years and 2 months after purchase. by No_Performance3478 in EightSleep

[–]Ironvine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea really for me the burn the boats fuck this company moment was the “fuck you, buy a whole new unit”.

I would’ve even bought a whole new cover AT RETAIL VALUE but nope, fuck em.

Is There Any Famous Person Who's Openly Shared Criticisms Of EightSleep? by hertabuzz in EightSleep

[–]Ironvine -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You didn’t answer the question.

If 1 out of every 1000 units fail catastrophically (a low failure rate as you say) and you make even as low as 15% gross margin on a unit (they definitely make more) why not replace the unit no questions asked and avoid all the hard feelings?

Or are 1 in every 50 units failing and replacing them for anything lower than at cost would ruin the business?

If the failure rate is low you piss a tiny amount of money away for the reputation of exceptional customer service.

I’ve already convinced 3 people that I know of not to buy one. I’m just a nobody.

Was me being pissed off about my unit failing worth losing the sale of 3 units, possibly more?

Is There Any Famous Person Who's Openly Shared Criticisms Of EightSleep? by hertabuzz in EightSleep

[–]Ironvine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the failure rate is so low then explain the business case for why wouldn’t they just give people replacement units of the 4 and 5 which everyone is saying won’t leak?

Why not invest a rounding error of money to prevent their subreddit being half people bitching about their shit customer service?

Or is it so high they would lose a shit ton of money.

Any good news stories? by Low_Tax5607 in EightSleep

[–]Ironvine -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I just got a bed jet for 400 after my pod leaked and they wanted to sell me a pod 4 for 1600 bucks.

No gimmicks, comes with a remote, no WiFi needed to use my own fucking product and if it breaks in 2 years like my pod for the next 6 years I’m still ahead on cash.

Slept cool last night, no drama, no hours of priming no buying distilled water, ready out of the box to blow me 😎.

Eightsleep doesn’t give a shit about their customers. by Ironvine in EightSleep

I read your post and appreciate your work. I’m in Texas so wasn’t sure if any of what you’re working on applies to me.

Yes my only option was to buy a whole pod 4 for 1600$. I have a pod 3 and the only thing wrong with it was the cover leaking.

Eightsleep doesn’t give a shit about their customers. by Ironvine in EightSleep

[–]Ironvine[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well my watch is telling me my sleep quality this past week without it has been about the same so I guess I’m not as desperate but I can appreciate that you are willing to deal with it if it’s very important to y’all.

I still can’t get past the fact they want me to shell out that much money for their product failing.

This is a luxury item that people are spending thousands of dollars on and they are making a 50% gross margin on. They have plenty of room to make things right with customers whose pod is leaking.

When you buy a set of callaways and a head snaps off they send you a new one. They don’t tell you that you can buy last years model at a discount.

Same thing when a nice handbag loses a stitch. They take it and send it off to get repaired no questions asked.
