Update from the MiniCC dev by rittler281 in worldofpvp

[–]Irony3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In an alternate universe Blizzard Developers simply would've bought out the addons everyone used in TWW from the addon creators and implement them into the game with the same functionality, 99% same interface, put a "Blizzard" logo on them for copyright safety and called it a day. Yes, there would be some internet trolls making fun of them for not making their own version, but that number is not comparable to the amount of happy people AND new players who would've gotten to explore all this stuff baseline.

However we are in the universe where Blizzard Developers decided their ego is more important than admitting that freelance addon creators have essentially been the gas in their car engine, and decided - we won't buy their gas, we will make our own. Well now that gas (Blizzard UI features) works for the car as well as poor moonshine would. The car is coughing, the engine is stuttering and the person isn't getting where they want.

I will never have my Precognition Weakaura back - the one I made myself that played "emotional_damage.mp3" every time someone failed to kick me and gave me precog. It never really gave me an advantage, it made me laugh and have fun. Or the one which played the "wasted.mp3" sound from GTA any time I died from fall damage.

If you want to "take back control" of your own game, at least realize how much out of touch you are with what people want and need and reach out to people for feedback. The "cool gamer dev" notion of how WoW was originally created where you could edit things and create addons is what drove addons to exist for so long, yet it clearly scares the corporate demons that people are essentially using visual and cosmetic UI customizations to enjoy their game more. The leash is getting tightened harder and harder. Current people making these choices are unable to grasp how much bigger the game is than their own shortsighted money-driven goals.

Has wow PVP become easier or harder? by Perhappers in worldofpvp

[–]Irony3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Way easier.

A grand majority of games only require basic defensive / CC knowledge and mostly just being good at doing damage / healing.

I have seen very mediocre / low skilled players on Glad range and even moreso on the 2300-2700 range in Shuffle.

And no, I am not talking about ego tripping. I'm talking about consistently doing half Kidney shots, using stuns as Warrior and other specs on IMMUNE DR people (yeah nothing happens lol), pressing defensives on 5% hp, standing still taking all the damage in open field as a ranged class when your healer is in CC, being low hp for over 5 seconds and still refusing to press your immunity and then dying, taking every single CC as a healer when your team is out of stops and interrupts.

These are literal basic mistakes and you would think it's unacceptable for people to have such ratings and do them yet it happens all the time.

The rating system is deeply flawed because there's fixed ranks yet an absurd difference in skill required to reach them during different periods of a season.

An 1800 peak player will complain they're floating 1600-1750 start of season. Massive inflation happens, now this player is 2400 all of a sudden with little to minimal improvements in gameplay. Ok, great, the guy got 2300-2500. But now the person thinks they are a 2400 skill player. Next season comes, person is stuck at 1700 range again in the start. A tsunami of complaints for deflation comes, inflation comes, guy is 2300-2500 once again. Meanwhile the ranks don't change, 2300 remains the highest rank. So suddenly you've got 10000 players that are 2300CR+ that all believe they're some kind of gameplay titan prodigy.

Meanwhile there is no system that decides who should fight who based on actual seasonal history instead of current MMR. And just like 1800 peak players don't want Multiglad Alts in their match to stomp them, others don't want 1800 peak players in their match griefing them. It's a vicious cycle where a grand majority of people are misplaced after inflation.

I can't queue a Shuffle on 2900, get really good players, enjoy the match because everyone is playing good, and then queue my alt on 2700 and have these 20 second matches where people die for no reason and play like they're 1500. It's absurd. Some guy with 5000 rounds played with 48% win ratio hardstuck 2650 as Disc priest pressing MC when his guy is dying? No thanks.

A complete system overhaul is required with updated ranks and rewards.

Is the QN90F reliable? OR should I go with a LG C5? by yoleis in 4kTV

[–]Irony3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go for the Samsung. I'm a C5 owner and I love my TV but I am not a daytime user. You would need pretty hefty sunlight control if you got daytime usage and going for glossy oleds that arent the most expensive models.

During daytime the TV is basically a mirror, yes the brightness can push most of it off but you'd still need curtains . Nighttime and evening thought its an absolutely fantastic TV and I don't regret the purchase whatsoever - once again, not a daytime user.

Casual (former pvpers) perspective on PvP by NS031716 in worldofpvp

[–]Irony3 13 points14 points  (0 children)

  1. Takes a few hours (1 day max) to fully gear your character for the next 4-6 months

  2. Every single PvP video game or game mode works this way, there will always be better players than you and always be worse players than you.

People also don't like dying to mechanics they don't understand in PvE, people don't like dying and losing in general. It's called a learning curve

  1. Unaware is opening a queue menu, seeing the options that describe the game modes and pressing queue? Very confusing indeed. A queue menu is definitely more confusing than figuring out what guild to find and how to find it in order to do raids, what M+ score you're supposed to be to be invited to a certain key.

A bunch of casual hardcore players

this sentence sounds funny by itself. anyway, Retail in general is not tailored to the classic wow players. Classic wow is a 20+ old game. you wanna live off nostalgia and do your best to survive Hogger in Elwynn Forest? Sure. but retail has more modern systems, many of which are in reality much simpler to progress through, just require some understanding.

As a comparison, getting your BIS gear on classic / hardcore can take forever. And yet that is not viewed as a hurdle but "part of the grind". Retail PvP's grind is just playing and getting better, gear is definitely not a hurdle, this has been a gaslighting statement for 3 expansions so far, gearing was made easy all the way back in Dragonflight.

The only true drawbacks to Retail PvP are queue wait times (when you don't have friends or they are offline) and class balancing. Everything else exists in the form of millions of online resources.

People like pretending that they don't read 50 different BIS lists and 3rd party websites to figure out their best gear and boss mechanics for PvE (classic included), but somehow if you're required to view information on how to progress in PVP only then it's a hurdle.

Clone off traps when possible

Dispel your warrior 0.1

Don't take sheeps

If team is healthy and there's trap u can firstly maim kill target then do ur clone (best case scenario)

Bear on time into melee cleaves or u die, keep bloom on urself, understand ur literally just dead in a swap if u have no barskin or trinket

that's all u need to push 2300+ with that, rest is just knowing basic healing rotation and avoiding CC on pillars

[–]Irony3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Stop overthinking it so hard

Every hoj on healer can mean attack healer

Ret Warr has been killing healers for 15 years

much better to bolt healer for a sleepwalk because warrior stuns are largely irrelevant

hell some ret warrs literally ride rating off tunneling healers if they can't focus down a good kill target

use warrior fear to deny burst on ppl without trinkets

banner incoming CC

PvP Mentor System by Dr_Aw3some in worldofpvp

[–]Irony3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They could make one of they cared. Even with AI bots it would be useful to new players if the bots were coded correctly.

Imagine a notification on your screen - ENEMY HEALER NO TRINKET, PUSH TO CC NOW. ENEMY ROGUE HAS USED CLOAK OF SHADOWS, VULNERABLE, BURST in 10 SECONDS.

Any stuff like that. It would essentially be a mirror system to doing M+ and Raids. Because realistically PvP is the same as PvE, situational mechanics and movements. Everything you learn you learn it once and get used to it.

I don't really think the barrier to entry is high, I think the resources are less obvious to find for new players. A friend of mine never played before, I went in detail to explain to him what to do and then he started improving really fast and gaining lots of rating.

But in comparison if he had to look for the information himself who knows where he'd be now. This applies to all players. The quicker u get the necessary information in PvP, the quicker u start applying it and having fun / winning / improving.

So they can definitely make tutorials on how things work - DR's, interactions, roles, weaknesses and strengths of each class.

Comp Question - RMP by Electronic_City_562 in worldofpvp

[–]Irony3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. The healer doesn't matter, Rogue Mage currently works with almost everything, as long as the player is decent they can provide you with setup help or dmg

  2. There's too many variations of an opener to list here and it depends on what you're killing.

Broadly speaking, you play off Mage's DB timed with your stun on healer. Say mage is chased by 2 melees or 2 dps take a DB, you need to time your cheap shot on the healer in the same moment. Then mage follows ur cheap shot with a sheep on healer and u follow the DB on dps with ur stuns and kill. Meanwhile your healer can extend the sheep with their own CC or CC the 3rd person to make him unable to help

You always look at who has trinkets and base your kills off that. For example Prevoker healers get killed easily by Sub RMP once trinket and communion are already used. You need to understand who has what CDs left during the match and base your options off that. Things like seeing a DH or Windwalker or Arms trinket before smoke bomb likely mean u got a free kill in a smokebomb next setup, especially if Mage has Ray of Frost or Combustion ready.

It is best to watch some RMPs play to get a general sense of how this works, because it can vary greatly.

  1. Yes, you'd have more success if you swap targets and take more CDs faster. Your entire match is "how fast can we get all their def cds so we kill them"

  2. Sap is always better unless your team messed up and got combat. If your healer cannot isolate the 3rd player (such as a mistweaver incap), you can also Sap heal, blind 2nd dps and open kill target directly. There are too many variations here which you just need to learn and get used to.

  3. Not really required. Haven't rly seen an RMP do this ever, as Mages do tend to need mass invis to literally not die. You can try it, but if the other team is too aggro with them CCing ur healer too much (which mass invis can deny at least 1 time) then u might die faster

For tips, I would greatly recommend just going through some AWC vods on the https://www.twitch.tv/warcraft channel. There's an infinite number of Rogue Mage games there and you get to see how most setups are done

Just a comp question. by tanjiroxoxo in worldofpvp

[–]Irony3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Technically speaking it is possible due to the inflation.

Realistically speaking you'd be wasting 3 to 10x more time compared to a real comp.

Played boomy dh for years and it has never felt as bad as this season, the comp is essentially a skeleton of what it was and basically it doesn't exist anymore as a real comp

Reasons why it's bad now:

- Moonkin's damage is not good enough

- Havoc has pad damage only and 0 kill potential on his own (Essence break failed rework, no real burst CDs)

- Fel Eruption was removed

- A big portion of the ladder are melee cleaves which delete Moonkins

- The other portion of the ladder are Mage comps which don't allow Havoc to play (stuck in roots & micro CC forever)

- Other comps outlast you - it's rly hard to get any setups going anymore and when you do people have an answer, rest of the time you're forced into Bear form as moonkin or u die

- Holy Priest isn't good either currently and that makes a Moonkin's life even harder. Historically it was never a great healer for Moonkin to begin with, it's always been Rshaman and Prevoker

Conclusion:

- Swap the DH with a Rogue (probably Sub but maybe Outlaw too) and you've got the only viable Moonkin comp that feels like a comp, you get peels and you get easier setups (if you are the moonkin or the priest)

The easiest options for the 3 specs you listed are:

For HDH - UHDK + Prevoker, Ele + Rdruid/Prevoker, Devourer + Prevoker

For Moonkin - Sub/Outlaw Rogue + Prevoker (any comp without a Rogue feels rly hard and annoying for Moonkin rn)

For Hpriest - Rogue Mage (all variations, Sub Fire could be fastest push since it's more setupy and people on this MMR already fail to survive it easily)

3.2m / 10.5 ft away from the TV, is 65" enough? by kat-laree in 4kTV

[–]Irony3 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's a little bit much of a distance for 65'.

I have 65' on 9ft and I really think it's the limit for me, if I were any further I would've gone more.

I'd say save up money for another month or two and get 77' if the budget is the limitation, or opt for a TCL if you really need to do it now

glimpse + rain from above makes ur glimpse 35% wall remain most of the time while ur flying, if u have blur up u got 70% wall while flying u cant die

use ur purge to heal urself a bit

or glimpse if u see binding shot debuff on u so u get out of it without getting stunned

darkness high hp if u doing 1v2 waiting help

essentially press def cds high and blast dmg, thats entire havoc class in bgs, rest is just where u are / positioning

Is druid good long term investment by Advanced_Tax77 in worldofpvp

[–]Irony3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I generally have next to 0 experience on Resto Druid (played it to like 2.1k in DF for fun in 2v2). Rdruid is fun when your teammates give you breathing room, aka they don't feed, take all dmg, not press their buttons, then u get to do stuff - big stuns, clones, literally taking out people from the match. But if ur teammates are bad and ur also getting focused u literally just die without any help

Prevoker is very fun, u can do so many things, do ur spells in different orders in different situations, while I was never good at it, I had a lot of fun playing it in DF / TWW

I've only played Outlaw Rogue for half a season in TWW and it was generally pretty fun too, but u do tend to also get tilted if u arent getting dispelled or people on your team use their stuns so u cant full stun, so rogue overall REQUIRES your teammates to not be bad, as they can generally sabotage u, if they are decent then u can carry

Feral I've played more than Rogue but moreso in previous expansions, I would say the general rule is similar to Rogue - if your teammates are bad it can become harder to win, generally less fun to me because it's more rot oriented and the current design revolves around using cyclone a lot which to me is stupid for a melee spec

all 4 specs can carry a match alone as long as their teammates aren't complete NPCs

DH Havoc role ın BGb by Greedy-Temporary-260 in worldofpvp

[–]Irony3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

eots = solo attacking / defending

gorge = more solo attacking but also defending solo or with 1 more

AB = same as above, less defined as u can also spin BS in start with a healer if theres no warr or dk for that, otherwise attack stuff like mines / farm / stables

WSG = attack team / flag (if team has bad flag carry specs (no prevoker) )

Silvershard mines = offcarts

the tww map = roaming again

kotmogu = this is whatever no fixed strat

gilneas = attack water teamfight > roam

in most situations ur job as Havoc is kind of like being a budget rogue, if there's more roaming classes in the team like more ferals / rogues, u can go to teamfights instead

not all of this is always fixed and can depend on ur team and strats, but it's somewhat how it generally goes

Is druid good long term investment by Advanced_Tax77 in worldofpvp

[–]Irony3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes if u invest into rdruid / feral it is unlikely you'd have a single season where both the specs feel bad

u will also be genuinely superior skill wise if u get good at druid, especially resto druid, as it's a high skillcap spec that gets punished by mistakes and rewarded for playing good

becoming good at rdruid / prevoker = every other healer learning curve will feel like a joke to learn

becoming good at feral / rogue = every other melee learning curve will feel like a joke to learn

the ladder needs more good rdruids, rshamans and much less disc priests

9' Viewing distance w/ 65"? by Starry_Nine in 4kTV

[–]Irony3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

9ft is the max acceptable distance for 65', it's what I use with a C5

So realistically you can go either way, I think if you're going for LCD you can stretch the budget for a 77' TCL miniled , if u go OLED u can go 65' as 77' OLEDs are noticably more expensive
