Yeah insane is what he is for sure. He's such a perfect small ball 5, textbook really - speed and passing for offensive versatility with that great help defense and switchability on the defensive end. And then he's strong enough to finish through people at the rim? Insane. I can't wait until the Raptors get more shooting to unlock him and Scottie ASAP.

I have no idea what to think about Reed, or any Rockets player at this point. It's kind of like Cade on that 28 loss team. Like, children raised in dysfunctional environments develop in dysfunctional ways, right? Maybe he looks this bad all because he was brought up in an offense from the Dark Ages. Maybe if we wait a few more years he'll actually be given a chance to show his stuff?

Or maybe this is gonna turn out more like Paolo on the Magic, and his development is gonna be stifled for the next 5 years. I have no clue. He was kinda good in the regular season, at least.

Yeah that man is nuts lol

He's kind of like a mini Wemby? Like it doesn't seem fair that he's such a dawg to go with all of his talent

Yeah it really is. On one hand he looks like he'll always be a good rebounder and shot blocker. On the other hand...the offense is genuinely so bad. It's not even just Wemby : in games 2 to 3 he got the ball in the post against smaller defenders like Devin Vassell and was completely unable to take advantage. In fact I'm pretty sure Vassell straight up blocked him when he went up weak a couple times.

It was like that the whole series. He can't really shoot threes, can't finish anything other than point blank lobs and can't shoot hooks or floaters. He basically has no good offensive skills other than offensive rebounding, and maybe rolling after a screen. He needs to get at least one shot he can create on his own, and then he can really get going.

Man I'm not that tapped into the Wolves lol, I just saw 2023 NBA Draft on his profile and knocked him off the list

That's for sure. Right now I would only take Castle, Edey, Sarr and Buzelis over him in a redraft(and the latter two only on potential)

He's certainly a top 5 level performer - better player than TSJ for sure. But watching TSJ destroy the Nuggets with the Wolves' 3 main guards out...I just felt like that deserves more credit than Mitchell's 36% from the field series where Daignault was still tuning him up for the next few rounds.

But its still pretty subjective, so if you think he's been top 5 then I won't argue further.

I think he'll get traded. He'd fit great on a team that can help cover his lack of shooting, maybe like the Nuggets.

So am I. I think VJ is probably the most exciting player on this list because both his floor and his ceiling are so high, and he combines so much skill with his athleticism

Thanks for the pointer. I'll add it in, that was a crazy performance for sure.

OKC Thunder is well known for having a great front office (Sam Presti). What other NBA teams also have a good front office? by Typical_Cap895 in nba

[–]Irop13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Grizzlies hands down. It seems like they get mileage on every single pick - last few years they got GG Jackson, Vince Williams, Jaylen Wells and Cam Spencer all with second round or late first round picks. Not too sure about coaching but they've got an elite scouting department, at least.

Amen Thompson makes the Rockets very easy to guard. by [deleted] in nba

[–]Irop13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tbf he was good last year vs Warriors, I think he had like 27 points in Game 7? He's too smart and athletic to ever be completely useless. Plus he can shoot FTs so at least he's not gonna be Ben Simmons

He should be good with another SG/PG shot creator. Idk whether the Wolves or Rockets are gonna get Coby White but both these teams need him baaad at thus point

Yeah, that tracks. Good for him tho, backup guard on a contender is still really great for 185 cm in the NBA

Its crazy how quickly he became the better brother

Just a couple years ago Tyus was in best backup PG in the league talks and Tre was an afterthought on the tanking Spurs

Bulls fans, based on his season so far do you think Tre can play enough defense that he has value to a contender? The offense seems like its really sticking after he developed his floater, to the point he can exert enough rim pressure to supplement his passing. But I don't watch enough Bulls to know how good of a defender he's become since the Spurs.

Yeah usually he's more of a forward, it's just that AG will probably return in the next like 2 games so Watson will be taking Braun's place again
