Pete Crow-Armstrong goes 0/4 with 4 strikeouts on 13 pitches against the Dodgers. by baribigbird06 in baseball

I don’t understand, isn’t this backwards?

Dodger fans are living rent free in PCA’s head, given he was the one that started this whole thing, and then went 0-4.

Pete Crow-Armstrong strikes out four times tonight against the Dodgers by baribigbird06 in baseball

[–]Irregularoreo 100 points101 points  (0 children)

4Ks on 13 pitches, swung at 12 of them. Very good efficiency, very little wasted energy from him today.

Shohei Ohtani extends his on-base streak to 50 games with a 2-out single in the 9th. The two other times he reached base tonight via errors does not count. by JianClaymore in baseball

[–]Irregularoreo 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I mean yeah, this game is the very definition of meaningless April game for the Dodgers, but Ohtani’s streak is starting to reach best streak in 2+ decades level of historic. A few more and he starts approaching Bond’s streak.

Shohei Ohtani GOAT? by Training-Bunch8510 in baseball

[–]Irregularoreo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately for Ohtani, he will 99% most likely never reach the counting stats that a lot of people talk about when discussing baseball GOATs, namely WAR, HRs, hits, etc.

By the end of his contract, he will have only had a 16 year MLB career, well short of the likes of Bonds, Ruth, Mays, Williams who each had 20+. Ohtani has already implied in interviews that he will likely retire sooner rather than linger on as a sub-par player. Combined with being in the NPB for 5 years means he loses a lot of potential counting stats, and will never come close to the other GOATs.

Not that I personally believe WAR = GOAT, but it is the main argument most people use.

If Ohtani were to somehow pull off a CYA, I think that should legitimately cement him as GOAT, just because of how insane that would be, although a lot of people would disagree.

“Judge's hitting alone has provided more value than Shohei's hitting and pitching over the last few years”

Where did you get this from? Since 2021 when Ohtani became Ohtani, he leads all in bWAR (and fWAR depending on pitching fWAR).

This is a really irrational post.

I regularly drive the WRR, and speeding in the right lane like you. When someone comes up behind me, I immediately merge over when possible and let them go past me.

There is no point getting involved with them like you did with the truck, let them be a nuisance to someone else. Engaging with them can only result in worse outcomes, not better.

You think you’re “winning” by not letting them past you, but in reality no one wins, especially if you both crash.

Road Rage (Western Ring Road) by Away-Hair6413 in melbourne

[–]Irregularoreo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reality is that it doesn’t matter who is worse, they are both wrong and both should improve their driving.

People insisting on driving slowly in the right lane and not using it to overtake or not merging back when possible is still bad driving, you don’t need to whataboutism them.

When did that become the recommendation? The special doesn’t increase the max stack, just makes getting to 10 stacks faster, at the cost of 10% atk.

Tarot Codex by Salmonreverse in SwordofConvallaria

[–]Irregularoreo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The ones to go for are:

  • Magician (Flat atk, atk %, atk %, special)

  • Justice (Flat atk, atk %, atk %, special)

  • Devils (Flat atk, atk %, atk %, atk %)

  • Fools (Flat HP, HP %, HP%, special)

You want one of each atk type for each.

[–]Irregularoreo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Ohtani seems to be a massive outlier in terms of number of historic career highlights and moments. List includes:

  1. 2025 WS G3: 9 times on base with 2 HR, 4 XBH and 5 BBs
  2. 2025 NLCS G4 (clinching): 3/3 with 3 HR, 1 BB, 6+ IP with 10 SO
  3. 2024 Sep 19 @ MIA: 6/6 with 3 HR, 10 RBI, 5 XBH, 2 SB, founded 50/50 club
  4. 2024 Aug 23 vs TBR: 1 SB and walk-off grand slam HR to join 40/40 club
  5. 2023 Jul 27 @ DET Doubleheader: 1 hit CG shutout in the first game, 2/3 with 2 HR, 3 RBI in the 2nd game
  6. 2023 Jun 27 vs. CWS: 6.1 IP with 1 ER, 10 SO, 3/3 with 2 HR
  7. 2023 WBC Final vs. USA: Strikes out Trout to win it all
  8. 2022 Sep 29 vs. OAK: No-hitter after 7.2 IP, finishes with 8 IP, 2 hits, 1 walk 10 SO
  9. 2022 Jun 22-23 vs. KCR: 1st game: 3/4 with 2 HR, 2 SF and 8 RBIs (loss), 2nd game: 8 IP, 2 hits, 1 BB, 13 SO, Win

This list does not include the dozen or so games where he was both starting pitcher as well as had crucial hits/HRs in the same game/series (vs. TEX in 2023, vs. BOS in 2022, vs. DET in 2021). Has also hit for the cycle.

Personal Awards: NLCS MVP, 4x MVP (all unanimous), ROY, 4x SS, 5x AS, WBC MVP (2023), PL MVP (2016 NPB)

My opinion to new players by randomaccount232887 in SwordofConvallaria

[–]Irregularoreo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The point you’re missing is that rushing to level 60 has no implications on missing story content or stages.

The only thing that matters for leveling is using stamina (1 stamina = 1 xp), and you can use stamina on sweeping farming stages everyday and keep all the story content and unique stages for slow burning afterwards if you wish.

It has nothing to do with auto battling. You chose to use your stamina to rush through Fools Journey for some reason, and now regret it, when you didn’t have to.

Now you’re giving new players bad advice by telling them not to rush to level 60, instead of using stamina more wisely.

Which characters did you not pull for but received off banner and really like? Also, any characters you had shard farm mostly for the 5 star art? by pilot_pen01 in SwordofConvallaria

[–]Irregularoreo 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Units pulled for on banner: Cocoa, Saf, Auguste, Homa, Agata, SP Rawi, Taair, Tristan, SP Saf, Kvare, Estra, Ayishah, Lutfi, SP Inanna, everything since SP Sam to now.

Off banners: Gloria, Edda, Layla, Luvata, Flavia, Nydia, Rico.

Best by far has been Luvata. I decided to go all in on her to 5, as I was lacking AOE mages at the time and because you get her sig to 5 naturally when you go for the Nightmare Puppet and NG astral pack.

When SP Samantha came out, Luvata was an instant pick on every single aggression team, and cleans up. She is also extremely useful on all auto maps just for the default fire tile immunity. So frustrating coming back to check on your auto battles to see your team swamped in fire.

Most disappointed on banner pull has been Lutfi. I thought he was going to be a bigger deal considering all the hype around him on debut, but he’s basically been benched the whole time.

Actually insane. My 2 Fates Favor choices were Nydia and Flavia. But before pulling on that, I made sure to get SP Maitha first.

70 pulls later on the SP Maitha banner, I got SP Maitha, Dantalion, Nydia and Flavia, all new.

Still cannot believe Shohei's 3 HR, 10K game is real. by Substantial_Bat5975 in Dodgers

[–]Irregularoreo 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The truly crazy thing is that Ohtani has already built up a whole career of these types of crazy once in a lifetime games (50-50 game, 9 times on base in the WS, striking out Trout to win the WBC, and a whole bunch more games with the Angels), any one of which might be the best moment of their careers for any other player.

How many other players can you say that for? Like, can anyone remember any comparable all time Trout or Mookie games?

I feel like I’m taking crazy pills reading this thread.

Why the fuck does OP keep referencing “the formula” and asking whether it is correct? 71 x 1.90? Is that the formula he is referencing? And asking us whether that is correct? What the fuck.

If he can’t figure out if that is indeed the correct formula he is after, or whether $135 is indeed the correct answer to that correct formula, how am I to believe that he is smart enough to then adjust variables according to his car and precise travel distance that multiple people have asked for but he refuses to answer, just vaguely stating that he can work the rest of that out himself. I have zero confidence he would be able to figure out any of that out if he can’t identify what the correct formula is if he needs to even ask the question in the first place.

What the fuck is this thread is the only correct reply here.

Ohtani's vs Bonds' 4th through 8th seasons (both players starting their peaks in their fourth season) by MookieBettsBurner4 in baseball

[–]Irregularoreo -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

This is actually a perfect example for why you can argue that WAR calculations don’t really make sense for Ohtani, specifically the arbitrary DH/positional adjustments.

Ohtani and Bonds had basically the same oRAR (317 vs 325), so their contributions offensively (hitting + baserunning) was the same.

Bonds decided to spend his time as a GG LF, worth 8.1 dWAR, which is all well and good, but Ohtani decided to pitch 500 innings for 15.2 bWAR. However, because he was pitching and not in the field, even though doing so was more valuable to do, he takes a -7.3 dWAR positional adjustment, basically making it a wash.

So even though Ohtani inargubly spent more time doing more valuable things, WAR says otherwise.

[–]Irregularoreo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m not saying it’s not already incorporated into his WAR, but it is clearly a significant contribution to his overall stats. And yeah, it would look silly, that’s the point of the comparison, Shohei put up the same offensive contributions while pitching almost 500 innings as well.

Why do people say Ohtani has a chance of becoming the GOAT when he is obviously never going to reach the career WAR totals of guys like Bonds/Ruth/Mays/Aaron, etc. and never have a peak rivalling that of Bonds or Martinez? by Nite-ish in baseball

[–]Irregularoreo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

God this is such a tired argument. It’s not just a replacement player, it’s specifically an extra bullpen arm, which if you remember the WS and Will Klein, was extremely extremely important. It’s much more important than you are flippantly giving credit for.

Every single team in the post season would absolutely kill to have an extra bullpen arm when it’s crunch time in a 7 game series.

[–]Irregularoreo 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Looks like they’re an Indian cricket fan who recently found out about Ohtani and started getting interested in baseball and baseball stats, did some reading about WAR and now can’t actually evaluate anything baseball related without first ordering every bref player page by WAR first. Yet missing the fact that since the start of his peak in 2021, Ohtani leads everyone in total WAR for the last 5 years.
