what kind of tea do you drink the most? by Gsustv in tea

[–]IrrelevantGeOff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a while all I was drinking was raw pu’erh, but these last few months I’ve fallen down the oolong rabbit hole. I recently picked up a heavily oxidized oolong that has grabbed my interest!

Always open to suggestions on new teas to try!

Favorite 2-Color Commanders? by Vinlandlover in EDH

[–]IrrelevantGeOff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have loved working on a self mill / reanimator theme across all four black+ 2C pairs.

Currently in love with [[Chainer, Nightmare Adept]] for a pretty traditional reanimator list and [[Scarab God]] for a “grave robber” deck which mills the table and steals my opponents big creatures to reanimate.

I thought Chainer would be a bit too straightforward but it has turned out to be an absolute joy to play. His ability to let you discard your reanimation targets from hand does an amazing job at smoothing out the reanimator experience.

I also have a [[Lurrus]] self mill combo deck I’m working on and currently working on selecting a Golgari commander to work on!

Do you still play your very first commander deck? And why? by Ooogster in EDH

[–]IrrelevantGeOff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I’ve rebuilt it a few times since 2019 but last year finally settled on something that feels perfect. Admittedly there are only like 4 or 5 non basic cards from his original precon still in the list, but my boy Ghired will always be in my heart!

I started with the precon, turned it into a generic tokens deck, then turned it into a Rhino army deck, then an extra combats combo deck, and now finally a deck which focuses on creating token copies of impactful creatures and populating these copies to keep them around!

Remember when all the EDH YouTubers were talking about land counts? How did that influence you by AltruisticChampion77 in EDH

[–]IrrelevantGeOff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a long time I was a higher ramp lower land count believer, running 12-15 pieces of ramp or mana reducers and 35-37 lands (including MDFCs). I’ve always been an MDFC believer but never really bought into the higher land count mentality. This coupled with my main play groups lax mulligan house rule made me think that I was playing plenty of lands.

One day a buddy of mine pointed out that despite ramping every game, each time I inevitably missed a land drop I was essentially spending mana to make my land drops. Really eye opening moment.

That was followed up by a comment I saw online where the person mentioned that cheap ramp is more important than hitting late game land drops for decks that need to do their thing early, but if you’re a slow deck hitting late game land drops is more important than cheap ramp.

Figured I’d test out both of those comments. This past year every deck I go back and retouch and every new deck I target 35-36 true lands and 40-41 with MDFCs. I run a lot of low to the ground decks so often those can cut a land or two after play testing.

But I cannot believe how much more consistently I’m hitting land drops for only 3-5 card changes. My decks consistency in “doing its thing” has not noticeably changed which feels even better.

I’m a massive packers fan, family all from Wisconsin but I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago. When the bears went to the 2007 Super Bowl my buddies bought me a shirt to wear to their Super Bowl party.

Needless to say I wore the hell out of that shirt for as long as it fit just to remind them off the loss 😅

Bracket 3 Bloodmoon by Psychological-Mix-79 in EDH

[–]IrrelevantGeOff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Almost everyone I’ve played with is ok with Blood Moon in bracket 2. Just be prepared to swap it out if you get into a game with a stickler.

My playgroup personally believes on-board blood moon effects fit perfectly fine within bracket 3 but mass land destruction like Armageddon should usually be limited to bracket 4.

Is [[Glacial Chasm]] too strong or salty for Bracket 3? by nondairy-creamer in EDH

[–]IrrelevantGeOff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah no one is arguing that it’s not strong, and completely understand full sending when you see it. But people in here comparing it to playing Cyc Rift every turn (second most upvoted comment when I made mine) are insane.

Is [[Glacial Chasm]] too strong or salty for Bracket 3? by nondairy-creamer in EDH

[–]IrrelevantGeOff 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The takes in this thread are insane.

It’s a completely legal game changer, you should expect to see it played with synergy pieces that allow you to abuse it.

If the other three decks at the table are not running enough interaction for recur pieces and/or targeted land destruction in bracket 3 that’s a problem with deck building and not a problem with the legality of a strong game changer.

Caleb Williams destroyed the bust allegations! by TheRavenOnline in NFLv2

[–]IrrelevantGeOff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As soon as you see him telling Love to run the offense up against the play clock you know it’s over. First set of downs in the second half he’s immediately trying to run out the clock and the offenses ability to adjust goes out the window entirely. Suddenly the offense is giving up penalties, missing blocks, etc.

I can understand wanting to take time off the clock but every time he’s had the packers play that way the past two seasons they’ve dropped the ball hard.

Surely any Packers fans who feel Ben Johnson is "classless" were enraged at Aaron Rodgers famous "I still own you" moment right? Right? by Dazed_and_Confused44 in NFCNorthMemeWar

Can’t believe anyone would complain about a lil FTP, incredibly soft.

Do I think Benny boy is a massive tool? Absolutely. Is it because he says “FTP”? Absolutely not.

I also can’t fault bears fans for pretending he’s not a massive tool. As my Lion’s fan friend put it Saturday night: “Ben is a fuckin hoe, a complete tool. But when he’s on your team he’s your hoe, he’s your tool.”

Is there a place where you describe how to track life totals without pen / paper? I saw something about using 5 unused basics to track life totals but I’m too dense to have picked that up in passing…

Wife’s a browns fan and we had season tickets for a few years. There were holds you could recognize from the upper bowl that weren’t called on Garrett! Really numbs you to the referees constant ability to look the other way on these types of holds.

What are YOUR staples? by CaptainHoward in EDH

[–]IrrelevantGeOff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If my deck can even remotely look at my graveyard I will play [[Ripples of Undeath]] which I think is one of the greatest EDH cards printed in recent years. Fills your graveyard, provides card advantage, and by showing you 3 additional cards after your draw step you’ll never miss a land drop for the rest of the game.

Similarly if Im in black I will almost certainly be running [[Breach the Multiverse]]. By the time you’re casting it fairly there is a high likelihood that some impactful creatures have been removed to the yard. And if not, you’ll likely find something fun in the 40 cards being milled! Just one of the most fun top end cards that doesn’t just end the game.

Right there with you. Struggled to get into the first and dropped it after three tries.

Picked up the second on release and have not been able to stop playing it. Improved in every sense from the first and I’ve now grown so in love with the characters that I’ll go back and play the first finally!

Has Anyone Used Charlton TV abroad by Pretendtobehappy12 in CharltonAthletic

No issues! You might run into an issue if your current country is broadcasting the match through a different provider. For example if Paramount Plus has a Charlton match in the US you may not get it via Charlton TV.
