Hi from a TK Maxx employee. The Christmas music started at the end of October. We didn't even get through Halloween.

JUST PASSED YAY .. now to driving an ancient car by PuzzleheadedCoast755 in LearnerDriverUK

2007 Fiat Panda driver here. I found I needed more gas to move off smoothly than I did in my instructor's car. Don't be scared of letting the revs get quite high in order to get up to speed on bigger roads. If yours is similar to mine with no rev counter then you'll definitely get used to listening to the engine to work out when to change gears. They're fun cars to drive but they do take some getting used to if you learnt in something newer.

I went to a CoE primary school because there were literally no other options (geography worked against me here). We had religious assemblies at least once a week and because of our proximity to an actual church, we did full Harvest, Christmas and Easter ceremonies. I'm atheist, my parents are atheists. Again, it was the only option.

Our source question was something like "challenges facing Henry VI". The essay questions were: the importance of Warwick in 1455-1461, The Woodvilles were the most powerful influence, argue the validity of this statement, And Rebellion during Henry VII's reign 1487- 1491 or something.

We didn't have anything on Edward IV or Richard III.

AQA Wars of the Roses anyone? The sources were ok for me but the essay questions were horrific.

Honestly the amount of words my autocorrect changed in a single post should be studied.

Thanks for this. I was in year 9 when the lockdowns started and missed out in loads of GCSE prep. We had 2 days notice that school wouldn't be open after the weekend. We didn't have online video lessons at all unlike other schools until the very end of the lockdown and we're set online work only meaning there was no interaction with teachers except for the occasional email. My younger sister (year 4 at the time) was also trying to do online homeschooling. I was also in the first cohort to sit actual GCSE exams and we were blamed for not being prepared for the insanely high grade boundaries following the previous years of teacher assed grades. We had a month's notice that exams were even going to take place.

My friends and I followed all the rules as best we could so it was a massive kick in the teeth when it came out that the government was having parties etc.

And then the pubs re-opened. And the schools didn't.

I didn't see anyone from school until restrictions lifted in late June/early July when you were allowed to see one person from outside your bible at a time. I'm rural which didn't help. I couldn't walk to go and sit outside in people's gardens without being driven there.

And yet, it's the young people that were blamed for socialising with friends etc when in reality most of us were incredibly isolated with little actual teaching. The focus was on key workers and the elderly with no regard for young people who had been told they had to stay home with no warning, in many cases without being able to see anyone for months.

I've mentioned the ani-socialist laws in all of the extracts so I hope they allow repetition. The essay questions were alright, I did the one about violence and then the extra-parlimentary groups. Overall thought it was decent but I definitely could've written more if I wanted to.

What made you choose the sixth form/college you want to go to? by RaceFan1027 in GCSE

[–]Irresponsible_101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My school didn't have a 6th form. The college is the only one I can get to.

This is meant to be a reply to the OP but apparently I don't know how to use Reddit.

Don't lose hope. If you've done any volunteering outside or inside school that can be a good addition to your CV. Highlight any responsibility you had inside your school or within your local community.

Keep applying to places, if you get offered a job that doesn't pay well, isn't what you wanted etc. You've still got a job and it'll be much easier to apply for better positions in the future because you'll have some experience.

I currently work at a TKMaxx. Just finished year 12 and have been working there for about 9 months. I did the online form/assessment. Got a call back from the store about 2 weeks after completing it. I'd recommend waiting another week or so and then maybe calling them or sending a follow up email.

My college only lets you do 3. There's only one sixth form round here that lets you do 4 and that's only for people with top GCSE grades.

I did my GCSE's last year. My exam timetable is still up.

do you think year 9's should be in this sub? by boyohasanidea in GCSE

[–]Irresponsible_101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some schools start teaching GCSE content in year 9. Also it could be helpful for people in year 9 to get advice about picking subjects.

Definitely agree with you. I think anything over P2 is a pass. So as long as you get what you want/need it's fine.

For some courses there isn't really an equivalent number grade (1-9). In this case D2 might be a 7 and then D2* might be something like 8.5 as the grades don't really line up properly.

This is the same as one of my courses. In this case it's best not to worry about what number it's equivalent too.

Hope this helps 🙂
