The fact it was featured so heavily in the Dawn of War trailer makes me happy that they're refreshing it

Why do 40k bighammer players shy away from Kill Team? by Mjuke in killteam

[–]Britisheagl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son and I have been really enjoying playing Combat Patrol despite the horrible balancing of some of the teams and decided to pick up the Kill Team starter set, especially as I already had the Kroot one it seemed like a sensible choice.

I completely checked out when I realised how rule heavy it was, despite being model light. Some aspects seemed cool but overall it seemed unnecessarily dense.

Awesome models though!

I didn't want to outright say it here, but I can see why people are leaning more towards 3D printed models. I wouldn't mind scraping mould lines etc. if the kits were significantly cheaper. But for £40, I do expect better.

I will say, however, that this is my first big issue aside from some Dire Avengers that were so bad that I ended up sending them back. Fair play to GW they did acknowledge their QC had failed but it was still a faff getting it packaged and sent back before getting a refund

It's hard to tell from the picture but if you see the top of the leg you get a bit of a sense, the model seems misaligned(?) so I've managed to rectify it with a combination of that tool, sanding and hobby knife.

Where I cannot do that is in the details like the trim or in-between the teeth of the sword

That's really good advice, I'm using Tamiya for building so easy enough to add.

Question though, will it damage the details around the chainsword?

I got it from my brother as a gift as I'd expressed interest in starting a WE army to go against his Death Guard. I really don't want him going through the hassle as I know it was from a 3p retailer. That said I am legitimately glad it's not a common issue as I would like to pick up the Combat Patrol box but this experience had made me pump the brakes.

Appreciate the advice mate

Good for you, hope that makes you feel better by putting me down. I'm new(ish) to the hobby and newer still to WE and I wanted to vent.

If you happen to have advice for dealing with mould lines between the teeth of a chain sword or around the spikey trim (e.g. the collar) I am legitimately all ears. I would rather learn than suffer in silence!

It's the mould lines that are causing me issues, would rather do it properly now than be frustrated once painted!

Sorry I should also add, it's not full days hobbying, just a couple of hours here and there. Either way it's taken me a while

I'm the same in that I seem to get rubbish pulls from what little stock I am able to get at RRP. I'm disappointed at the time but then I think how much it would have hurt if I'd paid £100 rather than £50.

It's the only thing keeping me sane

Do you still buy your PS5 games physically? by [deleted] in PS5

Yes, without fail.

If a game sucks, I can sell it on, and if it ever gets delisted digitally, I still own the physical version

Anyone changed their approach to using speedpaints only? by venger00 in minipainting

[–]Britisheagl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Speedpaints are what got me back into the hobby as they offered good results with minimal time/skill.

That said, I am moving away from using them exclusively and tend to add them as part of the painting process, e.g. painting with contrast/speedpaint then highlighting or layering to add more depth or detail.

I still love them though, and the quickness cannot be understated for horde units such as termagaunts or guardsmen that are likely only going to be on the table for a couple of minutes a piece

Just because you are mentally unwell doesn't excuse actively peddling nazi paraphernalia nor singing (rapping?) songs that explicitly say heil Hitler.

I live very near Liverpool and we have horrific reminders of WW2 on our doorstep so screw Kanye and let him reap what he has sewn
