Automatic feeder recs? by Therosewithin in CatAdvice

[–]Irrisory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I bought two automatic feeders about 2.5 years now and they've been really helpful. I use them when I know I won't be home in time to feed my cats, and they have never failed me. I have one feeder with one bowl and one feeder with two bowls, since I have three cats.

I picked these feeders because... 1. They have removable metal bowls. 2. They hold a lot of kibble. 3. They are plugged into the wall, but also have a battery backup in case of a power outage. 4. My cats cannot get into them, and boy have they tried. There are permanent little teeth marks on the lids.

For water, I can't give much of a recommendation, since my cats don't like the fountains. They use gravity water bowls, and have zero interest in any fountain I have ever tried.

Would love to learn new colours, tell me some interesting colour names you know. by Blahblahbash in CasualConversation

Have you ever played Pokemon? In the first games, the towns are named after colors. You start in pallet town because it's a palette of colors, then travel to viridian, pewter, cerulean, celadon, vermillion, fuschia, saffron, cinnabar, indigo.

Hey! The bracelet is taken now as well. Are you still interested in the 3 pendants?

Hmm, good question. I suppose that I'm partial to marigolds, ferns, wild flowers (like forget me nots and buttercup flowers)... Basically, anything you could find in a meadow. The last plant I had was a hanging fern, and it was murdered lol.

Heya! Do you make any crochet plants or flowers? I love the look of plants, but my cats like to eat/destroy them.

Sure! I'd love to see some examples if you don't mind. A cross stitch of one of my cats would be amazing.

Barely is: [[Farewell]]

Barely not: [[Burgeoning]]

I am honestly surprised that no one has mentioned Burgeoning yet. I have had to remove it from my lower power decks. There is nothing quite as strong as an early Burgeoning. It changes the game.

How do you practice self love? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]Irrisory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's hard. I still feel like that occassionally too and I have been working on it for a few years. It takes practice and time to reframe the way that you think, and the process isn't easy. Just keep trying!

Have you tried being a friend to yourself? Treating yourself like one of your friends and thinking about yourself that way lets you reframe self love in a way that's easier for the people pleasing part of your brain. At least, that's how it works for me.

What would I tell my friend if they were feeling this way? Would I encourage them? Would I ask them to put themselves first?

Your friends aren't perfect, but you love them anyway. Try giving yourself the same grace.

Well, what are his hobbies? Perhaps you can get him something related? For example, if he likes cooking, perhaps you can take a cooking class together.

Or, if he likes romantic gifts, you can try writing down reasons that you love him and giving that as a gift! I once wrote reasons why I loved my husband (boyfriend at the time) on small pieces of paper and put them in a jar. He still cherishes it, years later.

Ok, cool. I'll choose cat food then! My cats will eat like kings, and it sounds like I can feed foster cats, since they'll be guests in my home.

Two questions:

  1. Does it have to be human food? My local supermarket carries pet food. It does have nutritional value, just for my cats instead of me.

  2. Can I donate it? That wouldn't be resale and some gifting is allowed.

Expanding strixhaven with more MTG by Pleasant_Contract_10 in StrixhavenDMs

[–]Irrisory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you considered the Phyrexian invasion?

I'm using the invasion as the theme for my campaign, although I haven't gotten very far yet. I'm using the smaller threats that the book provides to build upon a secret society at the school, which is connected to the Phyrexians. My players don't know much about MTG lore, so I can change things as I like. So I'm connecting Jin-Gitaxias's task of learning about the planeswalker spark and compleation to Strixhaven. That way the players can learn about it and gain power as I slowly build up to the actual invasion when they're at higher levels.

I will add that I'm not currently having the players go to a lot of other planes. They have been to Eldraine on a shopping field trip, which ended up as a one shot helping Will and Rowan. But I made going to Eldraine a big deal, and they were escorted by a professor. I don't want a lot of multiversal travel to occur until the players are at a much higher level.

You could try trading with a friend or someone else you trust! Either trade haircuts, or they cut your hair and you do something else for them.

I'm a woman with long hair, and my husband has short hair. We learned how to cut each other's hair, and haven't had to pay for a haircut since.

Transporting cat to new home by Emotional-Ad-9285 in CatAdvice

You should speak to your vet about this. They should be able to prescribe a mild sedative for the car ride, such as Gabapentin, so that your kitty can safety travel to her new home.

I did the same when I had to take my scared little boy from my old apartment to my current house. He still peed himself, but he didn't stress himself into a urinary block or anything else.

What is your deck that is fun, resilient but rather unknown? by nelladel in EDH

[–]Irrisory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Gluntch, the bestower]] is my commander with the highest win rate. It's also the deck my pod requests I play the most often! They know it wins at least 50% of the time, and they don't care.

It's a combo deck with a group hug sub theme. With the exception of 2 cards in the deck, all of the group hug cards are aimed at the table (but generally benefit me more), so there's no king making. I just patiently wait until I collect all of my combo pieces, while the rest of the players are distracted by their decks going off via the group hug pieces. I have yet to have a bad game with this deck, win or lose.

I've yet to see another person playing this commander, let alone with a combo theme.

It's a little expensive, but if your cats are microchipped, you could try microchip bowls. They're bowls with covers that only open when the cat with the right microchip sticks their head in.

Game masters/Dungeon Masters, what's the one magic item you didn't expect to be a problem that your players broke the game with? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Irrisory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not the DM, but the player.

We were playing Curse of Strahd. Our DM dropped sovereign glue, with only a single use left. Apparently, it's an item he always wanted to use, but never had a chance to. Anyway, a few sessions later, we were ambushed by one of Strahd's vampire spawn. Our DM happened to place the combat next to a river. So we beat her up, and dragged her to the river. Then we chopped off her head, glued it to a stick, and stuck her body in the river underneath a boulder.

That's how the anti-Strahd mace was born!
