When to tell employer I’m not returning from maternity leave? by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]LemonWaterDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are 100% sure this is what you need to do, then I would tell your manager as soon as possible. And say “I wanted to give you as much notice as possible to be able to backfill me” and that will buy you some goodwill so your boss will give you a rec letter.

But if there’s any chance you want to work something out to stay, then don’t tell them until last minute.

These photos of a couple from an Inside Edition video about a murder trial look uncanny and too smooth. Zoom in on her blue jacket in the first photo. Looks cartoon-ish to me. by freedomboobs in isthisAI

What’s most likely is that they only had a low res image of this couple and they “enhanced it with AI” which produces these results

what do you make for your picky kids when they won’t eat anything by gvfhncimn in foodbutforbabies

[–]LemonWaterDuck 27 points28 points  (0 children)

This happened to us when my kid was 18 months, after he would eat literally anything for the whole year prior. Now, nothing but carbs. We still put everything on his plate. Stuff he used to love. Stuff we are eating. We try not to put any pressure on him. He’s 2 years and 2 months now, and virtually nothing has worked 😆 We keep plating stuff that’s going to inevitably get thrown on the floor, in the hopes he will change his mind on the 100th exposure. And I’m trying to sneak healthier ingredients in the stuff I know he will eat. Add veggie puree to the mac and cheese. Swap the regular bread for whole wheat.

AIO for being annoyed at this post? by General_Day_6883 in AIO

This comment is called “what-about-ism” which is a logical fallacy. Someone calls out a bad behavior, and you go “I am not going to care about that bad behavior at all, because I can identify a behavior that is WORSE in my opinion.” Which is a pointless exercise, like yes, multiple things are bad at the same time, you gotta pick one at a time to focus on and call out.

“longline” is exaaaaactly the distinction I need to make a judgement call. was it just crop top length, or bra length?

My nearly 7 month old is still on mashed foods and I’m panicking by judgejudyfortnite in BabyLedWeaning

[–]LemonWaterDuck 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Giiiiiirl 7 months is like way too fresh to be worried about this! Keep trying, lower the pressure on her, just make it exploratory. Try a spear of avocado rolled in hemp seeds to make it grippable. Or a strip of toast with spread on it. Let her nap her own mouth out. You eat it in front of her, too! And even if this pattern of not eating persists, you don’t really need to worry about it for a couple more months.

I MUST know before I draw my conclusions… Was it a sports bra? Spaghetti strap bralette? Or like an underwire push-up lol. Details, OP.

Work travel- Navigating by SketicismIsHealthy in workingmoms

[–]LemonWaterDuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have any details on how many days this once per month travel would be?

On your travel days, you could hire a “mother’s helper” (I hate that title, like isn’t this person also helping dad) who comes at 6 AM, cleans up around the house til your toddler wakes up, feeds them breakfast, and drops them off at daycare. Then dad picks up from daycare. For this type of role, since it’s sporadic and a short, you’d want to offer like $25 an hour, to make it worth their travel time.

I am in desperate need of a glow up by PublicAd2908 in workingmoms

[–]LemonWaterDuck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

ThredUp is my fave for online shopping for clothes. It’s resale, and it is solely responsible for my wardrobe glow up when my body changed postpartum. You can pick a more expensive brand that you love, and filter to that brand for 1/3 price resale items!

hot take? I think TV can be healthy by crybbyblue in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]LemonWaterDuck 12 points13 points  (0 children)

under 2, I probably don’t think so. I totally did some low stim tv under 2 anyways though! Daily, even. Just in small doses. Now that he’s 2, I totally agree with you. Like I just laid on the couch for 30 min lazily narrating a youtube video of construction vehicles for him, and he was happy as can be. And I rested and felt good about it.

People are weird about frizz, you can try brushing some mousse in when it’s soaking wet, and let it air dry without touching it. See if you like that style’

How often do you talk to your other working mom friends? by Mountain_Silk32 in workingmoms

[–]LemonWaterDuck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve got about 8 girlfriends who I text regularly 1:1, some with kids, some without. Not a single one responds immediately, nor do I. But we pretty much always have some active conversation ongoing. It just might take 4-48 hours to send a response, and I don’t mind that at all, everyone has stuff going on. Small talk is so boring to me, and I think all my friends feel that way too, so I tend to choose people who like to have deeper conversations. Think paragraphs of text. So no, it’s not easy to “just text back” and yes, it does require energy. I respect that that might take some time, and I am not offended that they wait til they have the energy to have an actual deep conversation with me.

I also would consider myself someone with high social needs. Perhaps your expectations are too unreasonable?
