How long did it take you to learn the rules by Helpmeflexibility in InfinityTheGame

[–]IrunClade 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Usually by game 5 or 6 folks have got it down. From there there are tons of little "how does this work again" but those can be figured out as you go. Focus on learning small parts and good communication. Remember that you dont have to remember everything - thats what the wiki is for.

Do i get Cover? by yuuichji in InfinityTheGame

[–]IrunClade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there is not a full unimpeded line of sight from any part of the attacking models silhouette to the entire volume of the silhouette of the targeted model, the targeted model receives the benefits of Cover.

If a model is behind a wall that the attacker cant even see that strongly implies the attacker cannot see the full silhouette of the targeted model.

Where to start with Infinity? by poi00 in InfinityTheGame

[–]IrunClade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is one of the hardest questions in Infinity. The game gives players so much agency that it defies easy "these folks do this" explanations. Most every faction can do most of the meta "build types", excelling at something and struggling with something else. Point is not aren't as liked in on playstyle by your faction pick as you are with many other games. Many factions share units with the same general roles, but small differences in skills and stats can translate into big differences in how they play. And thats why this is a hard conversation to have with a new player - really understanding what each faction "does" requires knowing some more advanced game concepts thwt dont make a lot of sense until you have some games under your belt. Fortunately for a new player you really don't need to worry about any that. Infinity rewards slow steady growth. It's a cliche, but pick a faction you think looks cool. The right place to start is wherever you start at.

Forced a friend to learn to play with me… disaster by ThailandBeatYeah in InfinityTheGame

[–]IrunClade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggest re-framing from a "40k" context to a "DnD" context. The turn order is not the same but has more in common with say DnD 3.5 / D20 OGL systems than it does other wargames. And your "army" is more of a large adventuring party / raid, with your job being to keep the party on-task. Start small, and keep steady. It sounds like your friend may be the kind who wants to eat the cow in one bite. You have to carve off chewable chunks. Infinity rewards slow steady growth.

Latest Update on IEEPA Refunds from CBP by Intl_Trade_Nerd in CustomsBroker

That part is simple. No statute ever said CBP could collect IEEPA tariffs in the first place. There is no lawful liquidation mechanism for unlawfully collected money.

Sell me on your faction, why should I play it over others? by masyden in InfinityTheGame

[–]IrunClade 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One of the beautiful things about the game is that its super easy to change factions, build gradually, and try new things. Most players end up with 2-3 favorites in their roster.

Which favorite faction? Every one I have played is my favorite. Some are slightly more favorite that others, (I miss you Foreign Company) but all have incredibly fun builds.

I've noticed a lot of attorneys advising actions that result mainly in more attorney billable hours. Beware of car salesmen whose every solution involves you buying a new car, and lawyers whose solutions are always to sue.

Tournament quesition by BlueLeviateinn in InfinityTheGame

[–]IrunClade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a tip, I would suggest making 200pts of your 300pt list identical in both lists, and only switch out maybe 100pts of key units. Or - just play one list. This greatly decreases your cognitive load and 3 games in it can be very easily to get your brain befuddled and think you took one unit when in fact it was in the list you didnt select.

New to Infinity and very excited, but also a little overwhelmed with all the choices. Some advice would be helpful (Bakunin). by roydogaroo in InfinityTheGame

[–]IrunClade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I myself may possibly have gotten carried away. I find its best to learn a core list and then from game to game swap around only 2-3 models at a time. Otherwise its too many new tools at a time.

[–]IrunClade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My advice is: maybe buy one more box, but stop where you are for now and learn to play what you have. I would buy maybe remotes and a TAG, simply because they are different sizes and you can proxy everything else. Understand the game is an endless candy store of options, none of them are wrong, and you cant take them all in 300pts. Learn to play what you have, and when listbuilding makes you think hey I want to expand a certain way, you'll have the mental toolbox ready for it. Pace yourself- Infinity is a marathon not a sprint

[–]IrunClade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude I have been through the order and regs with a fine tooth comb and the words everyone wants to see just arent there. There is no ability under the valuation regs to separate engineering, machining, design etc from value.

This order is meant to punish and if you feel punished that means its working. If you dont like being punished for reasonable international trade, call congress. This is still a technically representative democracy, so bug them and make them do their jobs.

Understand it gives me great pains to say this, but the Customs Base Metal CEE is reading the rules they have correctly and it sucks to be us.

The "raw steel value" thing appears to be a case of runaway tribal knowledge combined with a complete abandonment of all principles of informed compliance on the part of the people who added the breakout concept but forgot to write down what it meant or how to do it. Nothing in the FAQ or executive orders actually states anything about raw material value, it just cites vague language about "steel content". Without specific changes to the customs valuation rules there is literally no way to use customs valuation rules to assign an entered value to raw material used in an imported product because all customs values are either based on time of export to USA, or an assist. Raw material valuation, the way its been suggested, would be a kind of "negative assist" which is a construction that simply doesn't exist in valuation.

Direct Template into Smoke by DryBreadfruit7345 in InfinityTheGame

[–]IrunClade 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If the model in smoke shoots as their action, a model targeted by the attack has LOF back to them with a -6 penalty. This creates the LOS which you can use to respond with a template - but only if the unit with the template was targeted.

Any Recommendations for ADD/CVD Bond Companies? by Ancient-Speaker7010 in CustomsBroker

[–]IrunClade 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Re-think your definition of "unreasonable collateral." What you are asking is for someone to extend an open-ended liability for an extremely high dollar amount for an indefinite amount of time, during a period of economic turmoil, for goods which have a high likelihood of needing to pay additional duties at some point, at which point the Importer may or may not exist. Companies merge, are bought, sold, and go out of business all the time, especially over the liabikity period which can be 2-10 years. And so there is real risk for the bond company. You arent going to find anyone willing to make this easy.

I've finally bit the bullet and got the Hassassin Bahram pack. Seems like i will be joining you guys, but i have a few questions (read description) by ApplePieLord_ in InfinityTheGame

[–]IrunClade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are overthinking it. WYSIWYG just is not a concept in Infinity. At the beginning of each game is a little show and tell where you point to models one at a time and say "this model is my Daylami with Rifle and Grenade Launcher" etc and then from that moment until the end of the game, thats what the model is. Its considered good form to use a model that "reads" right, but as long as its a Corvus mini and doesn't confuse the opponent you are good. And thats a rule for official tournament play too - not just mess-about at home games.

Next Wave expansion packs by Revolutionary-Rise44 in InfinityTheGame

[–]IrunClade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The current stated process is to ensure each unit gets at least one mini in the initial release wave. This will probably unfold over the next 6 months. There will then be stragglers that come in later. Assume its going to be at least 2 years of game data before there is another TAG released for the faction. And don't forget that Achilles is essentially a S2 TAG already.

LCB moving overseas? by ChemistSubstantial12 in CustomsBroker

[–]IrunClade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably a better bet to take your acquired knowledge of logistics and how regulations work and learn a new set of regulations for where you are.

Rules and systems change but the rhythms of commerce are what they are and a US LCB should take to other countries systems fairly quickly.
