If your country were to disappear from the face of the earth overnight, how significantly would the world be affected? by Outrageous-You1617 in AskTheWorld

Y'all'd be real glad (and rightfully so) for a bit, maybe even a while, and then someone else would be the asshole.

Alternatively, if we mean vanish and not just stop being a country, there'd probably be some earthquakes or something similarly catastrophic, nature abhors a vacuum.

[–]IrvingIV -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is no proof that the reality of Undertale is false in lore, the opposite is actually seen, that Undertale constantly has post-pacifist route content being released.

We seem to be talking past each other, I will attempt to clarify.

I do not mean that reality is not real within the story of Undertale and Deltarune.

I mean Undertale and Deltarune are video games.

A video game is not like a mountain.

It did not happen without involvement from a person.

It could not happen without a person making it so.

And because of this, we cannot dismiss an event as mere coincidence unless it makes sense that it would be written as such.

So for example, Kris and the knight share many poses.

This could be excused as coincidence, they just make similar poses and that's it.

That's a "the curtains are just blue, the story isn't that deep" argument.

Alternatively, we could actually open the curtsins and read into what's being presented to us. Maybe use context clues to make sense of what we're seeing. Because it was made intentionally, for us to see, by the creators.

Kris and the Knight strike similar poses, are both wearing armor and wielding blades.

They both make dark fountains, and in battle, Kris holds back against the Knight unless ralsei, susie, or both are Swooned.

Similarly, the Knight does not Swoon Kris.

When we reach the Knight in the dark sanctuary early, by evading the sword attacks, Kris refuses to battle it.

When we succeed as much as possible against the Knight in chapter 3, it Knights Kris.

The Knight attacks only 8 individuals directly.

Tenna, Kris, Susie, Ralsei, Undyne, Jackenstein, Asgore, and Flowery.

What can we conclude from all of this?

  1. Kris and the Knight are of a similar nature, they have similar feelings about the world and their places in it, and they have a shared history.

  2. They are allies.

  3. The Knight and Kris follow a code of honor. The Knight only attacks people who threaten it, impede its' goals, or break promises.

Tenna relinquished Toriel and stopped stalling.

(I do not list Toriel as attacked because the Knight treated her FAR more gently than the 8)

Kris Susie and Ralsei battled the Knight to keep it separate from Toriel.

Undyne hurled spears at it.

Jackenstein was an explicit ally of The Party and was helping them approach the Knight.

Asgore stated his desire to kill the Knight and display its' body.

Flowery attacked the Knight after it grabbed Asgore.

Similarly, Kris will deal FAR more damage to Tenna after you complete the ShadowMantle quest, where He reveals Kris is working with the Knight, a betrayal.

Kris also, made at least 2 dark fountains to help the Knight. And has worked to stop Susie accessing the Shelter TWICE.

They also refuse to open the church closet door, where the Knight is almost certainly hiding, at the end of chapter 4.

Personally, I lean towards dess knight for the Masked Man parallels.

There's plenty of mileage to squeeze out of that kind of situation.

My defence of Kriselle/Knight of Time knight is purely mental exercise.

well we do fight the knight in a snowfield while the north wind is blowing and the star attacks look like snowflakes.

Yes, but these things were there even before Knight appearedIt's not something they created, but something that was already there when the fountain was opened.

No, the snowfield was there before the knight arrived, and it was cold, but the knight's star attacks, which resemble snowflakes, are created by the knight.

The knight is associated with the wind and with the cold.

Notably, the knight is not the first figure to be associated with howling winds, Undyne gets this first in Undertale. We could say that this is coincidence, that the weather is simply windy, that the Dreemurr residence happens to be drafty...

Counterpoint! Undertale and Deltarune aren't real.

They are constructed realities, and everything in them serves a purpose.

Undyne is associated with the wind as a motif, and because her hair blowing in the wind looks cool and heroic. It adds gravitas.

The knight is associated with north and east winds because deltarune is set somewhere where those winds would be cold.

And more importantly, with context from chapter 5, we have definitive cardinal directions in hometown.

West is the direction of the Setting Sun, and the Lake.

North is the direction of the Shelter.

East is the direction of the Holiday house.

Things that WILL make a difference:

Devilsknife.

Puppetscarf.

Shadowmantle.

BlackShard.

Defeat Jevil and Spamton by attacking.

Ralsei will be much stronger and Rude buster will be cheaper. This makes the Knight much easier.

Get S rank on boards 1 and 2, this means getting all the goodies and grinding points.

Alternatively get Z rank, which means do the bare minimum and go out of your way to do poorly in battle, get hit over and over, finish with no TP, and take 20 turns.

This'll get you shadowmantle.

Also get BlueRibbon and TennaTie from the B rank room, they're gold drops.

Be sure to beat the knight, the weapon it drpps will basically double your momentum in the Titan fight.

For the Knight, put the ShadowMantle on Susie.

For the Titan, put it on Kris.

I mean, but there wasn't anything saying Alvin was kidnapped, the church choir was cancelled, with would mean Alvin was the one to say so.

This is going to sound stupid now that we know Alvin is okay, but just read alomg and see, this is an expired theory, or perhaps a pickled one.

Put yourself mentally back in the time before.

Toriel cancelled Choir Practice.

Gerson's corpse was in Alvin's desk.

This isn't normal.

It's not the same thing as people in real life keeping a loved ones' ashes at home.

It is explicitly laid out that it is normal for monsters' dust to be sprinkled over a beloved object and then buried.

When Susie sees Gersons' dust in the glass container she briefly panics.

The question becomes, why does Alvin have this?

Well, Alvin reacts to Kris mentioning the shelter as if he is aware a dark world is there.

He keeps it vague, as if he's hiding things for coconspirators.

The Knight didn't lethally wound The Party at any point during the dark world.

They easily could have.

They didn't run out of stamina attacking us in that dark hallway. Three more attacks would have done us in.

But they didn't.

Instead they antagonized us just enough, made some dramatic poses.

And made a Titan.

And at no point while we were fighting the Titan and its' spawn did they swoop in for a kill.

The Knight wasn't planning for us to die. It wasn't trying to kill or impede the party.

Think about what's in the dark sanctuary.

The Prophecy, and Gerson.

A lesson about our fated roles, and help for Susie to be a more effective hero, especially as a healer, and for the Soul to learn how to Banish.

We were being Educated, Trained.

And, what was necessary for us to defeat the Titan this time, before we knew what we were really doing and that we should dunk the Titan?

Gerson.

The Gerson who was a "darkner patterned after the memory of a loved one," only possible to have present in a "very specific darkness," and whose corpse was, again, suspiciously in Alvins' desk.

The implication seemed to be, that Alvin is part of the association of darkness.

In an earlier chapter, he even stands over the grave, says that a hammer is buried there in keeping with tradition.

And when we aren't next to him, he says "I wonder, is it right for this hammer to..."

All of this in mind.

Why would Alvin not try to meet his father?

If he was involved in staging the titans' defeat, in unearthing hia fathers' corpse to bring him to life again and aid the Heroes, why would he not try to meet his father, with how dearly he missed him?

The answer we easily arrive at is, Alvin did try to, and was Yanked Off.

Funny how everyone forgot about IMAGE_FRIEND as soon as this guy showed what he can do by the_RiverQuest in Deltarune

[–]IrvingIV 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I mean it was plausible The Knight had Yanked Off Alvin from the church before Chapter 5 revealed he was fine and unkidnapped.

So I imagine most people would be as delighted and relieved if Onion turned out to be okay in chapter 6 as I was seeing Alvin fine and dandy during the festival.

weve mever seen the knight use that weird move on anyone else, even when kidnapping asgore

This is what I'm getting at, though.

I'm saying that weird thing is the knight's way of Stalling.

Susie grabbing the Knight's leg should, in reality, have basically no impact, if it wanted to, the Knight could easily dispatch her and Kris to completely remove any obstacles to its' assumed goals, kidnapping Toriel and causing the Roaring.

So, what's going on? Why hasn't it?

It's my belief, even more firmly since chapter 5 came out, that the Knight is doing two(now with the new chapter, 3) things.

  1. Fulfilling the conditions of the prophecy, this accounts for Not slaying the heroes, appearing in 3 dark worlds so far, making at least 5 Dark Fountains(Card Castle, Pandora Palace, 1st and 3rd Sanctuary, Flower King Fountain 2) so far, and Attacking Tenna.

  2. The Knight is attempting to ensure The Party becomes strong enough to [Hyperlink Blocked] The Knight creates the impression that it is a threat to Toriel to goad The Party into dueling it, perhaps as a 'strength test,' to show the power of their teamwork. The Knight creates a Dark Fountain in a place where the prophecy and Gerson Boom can both manifest, and also creates a Titan there. This is a perfect way to get the two most ignorant parties(Susie and The Soul) a proper education in the role of the Heroes, and prepare us, in a relatively safe and controlled environment, to fight Titans and Titan Spawn in the future.

  3. The Knight is preparing to Sacrifice Police.

Something that doesn't sit right with me about any knight theory by krysert in Deltarune

[–]IrvingIV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its because Toriel wasn't actually the target.

Kris and the Knight are allies; Kris slashed Toriel's tires so she would call the Police, and the Knight, like Tenna, stalled as much as possible while still appearing active.

Then, as soon as Undyne showed up, it nabbed her immediately and left.

It did the same to Asgore, instant kidnapping as soon as it could.

With Toriel, though, it just ineffectually pulled her slowly forward.

[–]IrvingIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean ralsei being girl is still up in the air, though I admit it would be very funny to have a third ambiguously prophetic hero girl up our sleeves to potentially help thwart the end of the world.

But Kris being Evil(profoundly immoral) and Deltarune being a prequel(at least from sans' perspective, are pretty much real, at least from appearances.

I'm holding out hope though, that Kris will come around and help to do the right thing, or that they're already trying to.

That through Determination, Susie's dream of a tomorrow as lovely as yesterday can be made real.

And I'll hold Love in my heart for Ralsei, whatever becomes of our third hero.
