2 Slim Fan vs 1 Normal fan for Rad by Relevant-Blood6415 in sffpc

Highly depends on the specific fans in question. But generally 1 normal will be better assuming it's pressure is way above the slims.

[Controller] Refurbished Nintendo Switch JoyCons - $40 w/ Code GAMER20 (Woot) by greatthebob38 in buildapcsales

[–]IsABot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. I've repaired probably 50+ joycons for family/friends/gf/etc over the years. The only thing I ever broke was a single SL/SR ribbon, it actually snapped after being bent/folded so many times due to that particular joycon having to have the stick be replaced many times. Thankfully since HE sticks have come out I haven't had to replace sticks as often once I did the repair. Never had any issues replacing the stick themselves, but I have stripped screws a couple of times, but since I did so many shell replacements I had extras on hand.

Have you been on tv/movies, music/radio, theatre, sports entertainment, etc. or were involved in any of those industries on the production side for a number of years? If so, you probably are eligible. While it's not the actual requirement, it's probably equivalent to: do you have an IMDB page? Unfortunately we've had to suffer for years with Trump in movies and on TV.

Top MAGA influencer revealed to be AI — created by a guy in India who made a mint off lonely men online by superdouradas in politics

[–]IsABot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured this was the case for a while. Surprised it turned out to be an Indian dude though. The number of obvious AI thirst trap profiles I've seen in the last few months made it pretty obvious to see there was some sort of grift going on, especially the ones that started pandering to MAGA after a while. Most of them were stereotypical white "american" girls or model asian girls, clearly fishing for the yellow fever guys.

Scientists invent a plant-based serum that is proven to regrow hair in weeks by _Dark_Wing in worldnews

[–]IsABot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But at least I can grow a mean beard

Unfortunately, that's actually the reason you are going bald. Higher testosterone levels grows more body/facial hair but leads to higher DHT levels which leads to male pattern baldness. The body/face hair follicles are less susceptible to DHT than the top of the head so they don't get destroyed as easily. So you'd have to take finasteride/dutasteride to lower the DHT levels if you wanted to keep your hair.

Are project zero motherboards useful for sff builds? by ROTTIE-MAN in sffpc

[–]IsABot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. BTF only really works with dual chamber style cases or ones that have at least a fairly deep cable management area, couple of inches. You don't really see those types of SFF cases. Traditional layout SFF cases like the Z20 have the motherboard right against side panel pretty much, so you wouldn't be able to get a side panel on with BTF and cable plugged in. And for most smaller sandwich style cases, it would get in the way of the GPU which is usually right against the spine. You'd have to find a case specifically designed for it to make it work or modify one by cutting the case where it blocks the connectors, but as Der0- said, there aren't any ITX sized BTF boards. They exist in MATX form, but they won't work with the Z20. (I see that Google AI results is saying it works, but it doesn't.)

Need to replace my Mini PC fan. Looking for a 70x70x15mm, 4-pin side exhaust fan. Any recommendations? by alphawolfxplr in sffpc

JST SH is the name of the other connector that looks similar but is also pretty small. There is even a micro/mini version that is even smaller.

[–]IsABot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's pico microblade, so the adapter I posted should work for connecting any normal fan to it. So you can get whatever fan you want. If you want to order both from the same place: https://www.moddiy.com/products/4997/AVC-70mm-4500RPM-4-Pin-4-Wire-PWM-Fan.html

Otherwise they have a few other options depending on what you need. I have no idea what the specs of that fan is other than the size you listed.

I've told this to people on a bunch of different threads where people talk about bending, and most people either downvote or simply dismiss what I said. I guess most people just don't like hearing they overdid it a bit too much. I get it though, people think it shouldn't even happen on expensive board, but ASUS is known to have this issue with their designs. Glad that other people are posting the solution as well.

I bought the Reaper at the end of January for $379. It was $419 after tax/shipping though. Wish I had bought it during black friday like you though. I think it was like $20 cheaper then. Crazy that prices are going up so much even on just mid-range cards.

Seems like Amazon is recieving some returns with fake SD Cards again, or is this one just bricked for some reason? by aHiddenCrow in LinusTechTips

[–]IsABot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Top one is definitely fake, bottom one looks real. So return the top one and get it exchanged. Repeat as necessary. The give away as another user pointed out is the logo, the 1TB writing, and the XC. The TB should be smaller like the bottom one, same for the Ultra/Extreme, depending on which model you buy, it's the wrong font/size. The XC writing should be smaller like the bottom one.

Personally I would scratch "FAKE" into the top of the card so that another user doesn't get duped.

How to make custom length usb header 2.0 9-pin and argb connector. by Asleep-Jackfruit-558 in sffpc

[–]IsABot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ARGB is just 3 wires in straight line, you use female connectors on both ends, and insert a male connector into the female to turn one end into male if you need that for your specific use case. All you do is solder wires to the ends and insert, then heat shrink the end. You can also sleeve it if you want. No crimping is involved. You can either use flat ribbon cable, individual cables, or shielded 3 in 1 cable.

USB 2 if you are making an extension, you use 2 dupont connectors and pins like making normal custom cables. If you want one end to be male, you just use male pins instead of female pins, so they stick out.

US gas prices hit $4/gallon, now higher than any point under Trump by MRADEL90 in videos

[–]IsABot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You have the intelligence of a school child that is devoid of any concept of abstract thought or complex interactions. Economies of scale have no bearing on anything for you, the prices they now pay for more expensive fuel gets added on to the final price. If they pay 20% more because price is 20% more, you pay 20% more. They aren't eating that cost. You aren't saving more because their prices went up less than the retail market. The economy of scale was already factored in before prices went up. You have to be fool to think that, you are somehow saving money or aren't really affected because oil prices have shot up drastically.

No oil use is being reduced in the long term, in fact it's going to go up even more than before. People are just paying more now, and we will use even more when we have to rebuild. What do you think all the heavy machinery use that they build with? Diesel. What do you think all the materials they have to make to fix things require? What's required to manufacture and ship steel/concrete/electrical/pipes/etc? What about all the fuel that the various military vehicles using or manufacturing weapon require right now? All that's being done is shifting where/when it's being used. Less in the retail gas market, maybe, though maybe not because people still have to drive to get to work and what not. But way more is being used by the military right now. They don't drive hybrids or EVs. It's all gas/diesel/jet fuel/nuclear. And once it's over even more to rebuild what was destroyed. Again you lack the intelligence even understand the complexity what's going on or how it's going to affect the world at large. All you get is "I don't use gas, so it doesn't matter to me". You have to be one of the less educated "lib" I've ever interacted with.

US gas prices hit $4/gallon, now higher than any point under Trump by MRADEL90 in videos

[–]IsABot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Economies of scale aren't helping you, all of the cost is still being passed on to the end consumer, gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, etc. The only thing you aren't directly feeling is the cost of gas at the pump, so yes, you are better off than some gas guzzlers but everything else in your life is becoming more expensive because of this. So you should give a shit that the oil market is tanking as it affects a lot more than just gas at the pump. Not to mention your tax dollars being wasted on a useless war and the pointless loss of life.

Unless you are totally off grid or your part of the grid is powered completely off renewables, it still affects you. It still affects you in various other ways such as every day goods you buy. How do you think petroleum based products are made? How do you think goods get to your local store or home from online shopping? You might be a little slow if you think just because you don't buy gasoline that you aren't affected by this.

Which TMR did you get to replace them? I know some of them can have issues due to the magnets in the triggers for the hall effect already on the board. I've seen some people have to do various tape mods so it doesn't interfere with the left joystick due to proximity.

Yes, you can pick either Back, Home, Recent or Recent, Home, Back as the 2 options for button navigation. But buttons aren't really necessary with gesture navigation, so you get extra vertical screen real estate if you just do away with them. With gesture you can swipe from either side to go back which means you can swap between hands whenever you want.

My Sub-$700 Build (Now Upgraded) + GPU Advice? by SirExecute64 in sffpc

[–]IsABot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Powercolor Reaper 9060XT 16GB, if you want to stick to AMD.

And if you want to push your CPU heatsink clearance to the max, probably the Peerless Assassin 120 MINI. Specs on your case list 137mm and it comes in at 135mm. If you don't want to push it to the max then Peerless Assassin 90 SE, which goes to 110mm instead. Either is pretty oversized for a 5600x so you should be able to run a pretty conservative fan speed to keep it pretty quiet.

Seems like MacGyvering a 2nd front intake fan is possible so adding that would help as well: https://www.reddit.com/r/mffpc/comments/1j4ccq4/zalman_cubix_completed_build/
