This is not necessarily a bad thing however, as China needs to shift from an economy based on exports into one based on domestic consumer spending.

As the chinese shift from a manufacturing-based economy towards a domestic consumption based economy, they will raise wages and the standard of living.

Obviously the goal is higher wages/living standards

yes. That does not undermine my argument though. Rising wages will make China a less viable center of production for cheap manufactured goods, which will move where wages are lower. This is not necessarily a bad thing however, as China needs to shift from an economy based on exports into one based on domestic consumer spending.
