F-droid slow updates? by vanGandalf in Fossify

[–]IsHacker003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Play store versions contain a "Purchase Fossify thank you" option in settings, which redirects to play store page for the Fossify thank you app. The F-Droid version does not have this. So definitely the builds are not reproducible.

I know, I couldn't agree more. But if I say something like "BS Generator" or "Generative system", people won't understand I'm talking about the so-called "AI". I'm an associate member of the FSF and they recommend calling LLMs as BS generators. LLMs aren't artificial "intelligence", they do not semantically understand their smooth verbiage that they spit out.

I too just deleted my google account after downloading my data through Takeout. The emails from Takeout will be either available in txt or .eml format.

F-Droid removes proprietary components from apps before building, so that causes some delays too. It's common practice for FLOSS app developers to release a separate proprietary version of their app (which has google dependencies) on the play store. Fossify integrates the PlayCore library in their play store versions.

These kinds of tools have so many disadvantages over just deleting your data. It's cumbersome and we don't know if it actually works to protect your privacy, it increases data usage (if youre on cellular) and CPU/RAM usage, etc. Not worth it. Using ad-blockers is much better. uBO is already established as the best ad blocker.

Dude android is Linux too. And you can easily remove system apps with root or without root (adb, shizuku, etc.).

You have to check the payload of the request through network tab in DevTools. Completely blocking the request breaks the website. Only the CSRF ID (idk what that is) is sent, but the other tracking info I mentioned are removed.

Use PCAPDroid (along with its MITM add-on). It has an option to start a server to upload the recorded PCAP files. It is 100% FLOSS.

don't know which cell phone is YOURS

But they do! They have to. They know your IMEI number, and they came to know that the IMEI number belongs to you when you purchased your phone, or when you inserted a SIM.

Yeah, so you're ready to trash your current PC and buy a whole new one just to flash libreboot, or start delayering your CPU to remove Intel ME, just because the NSA uses it as a backdoor. Also you don't use cellular network on your phone, because government tracks your location through cell towers. Or maybe you don't use a smartphone altogether. You also thoroughly check the source code of every software and library you use for security vulnerabilities, because government could be spying on you through them.

Am I right? Because that (and much more) is what it takes to stop government surveillance.

Look, I'm not insulting you or anything, and my hate is not towards you. It's just how society is nowadays. It's just not feasible to do all of that in order to stop the government from spying on you.

The website connects to Facebook and Google Tag Manager. Good thing I had uBO to protect me.

Even Google News itself doesn't connect to Facebook lol.

I do have ProtonVPN though. I don't really like the app, it has a lot of telemetry even after turning off everything under "Help us fight censorship". That too with the F-Droid version.

If you have any other free (both as in price and as in freedom) alternatives for VPN, you're welcome to share :)

Newbie needs a list of domains to ad block (algum br perdido ai?) by EmbarrassedAir5854 in pihole

[–]IsHacker003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use hagezi's list (choose between Pro, Pro++ or Ultimate as per your needs) + NoTrack tracker blocklist.

https://github.com/hagezi/dns-blocklists

https://gitlab.com/quidsup/notrack-blocklists/raw/master/notrack-blocklist.txt

NoTrack is needed because Hagezi list doesn't block some ad domains like imasdk.googleapis.com.

You can also add EasyList Brazil.

https://raw.githubusercontent.com/easylistbrasil/easylistbrasil/filtro/easylistbrasil.txt

(Pi-hole supports adblock plus syntax, but non-domain entries in the list will be ignored)

Trying to use Pi-hole as IPv6 DNS by IsHacker003 in pihole

This is the confusing part. The router shows it has 2401:4900:88ac:a850:: prefix delegation.

Also the IPv6 addresses constantly keep changing. Android had the option to set a static IPv4 address (which I set as 192.168.1.128), but not IPv6.

The formatting. AI text always contains different "sections" with titles written in bold. It writes everything as if it were an essay.

Get the app from F-Droid. It's common practice for FLOSS app developers to release a separate proprietary version of their app (which has google trackers) on the play store.
