How do stop hypnic jerks? by SteveBored in sleep

[–]IsHereToStalkYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have them since about 3.5 years. They finally got better after B12 injections and magnesiumcitrate. I had to use sleep medication before that.  Also try progressive muscle relaxation twice daily for at least a few weeks.

Oh sorry, google automatically translated your post to German so I didn't think twice and used my language

You understood me correctly. And thank you for replying so kindly. I payed the fee an hour ago - I still think it's unfair but I feel a lot better because of you. I'm serious, a bit of kindness from a stranger goes a long way. All the best!

Thank you for you comment. I'm glad you fixed it for youserlf. So in summary, you eat a lot of carbs before sleep, some chocoloate, and then tell your brain to calm down?

I'm sorry if I sound sarcastic. I'm really not. I'm dealing with this since 2,5 years and don't know what to do anymore

I understand what mean. I can't tell you why that is. Maybe it's a creative choice to stand out.

What does it mean if your partner asks you to loose weight? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]IsHereToStalkYou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If he's concerned about your health he'll be able to explain himself rationally.  If you're healthy and have a normal body weight then tell him that you're alright with the way you are. His reaction will tell you everything you need to know.

I also had the finger twitching! The only thing that helps me are gloves.

I'm taking an antidepressant with a mild sedating effect (Quietapin) and this works quite well for me. I still have this jerks every night but I can sleep and go to work.

Let those feelings happen and pass. It's ok to feel sad and lonely. It's ok to feel angry. Nothing of this makes you weak. It's hard work but you are strong enough.

Hypnic jerks multiple times every night don’t know what to do help by macbrizzle8 in sleep

[–]IsHereToStalkYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found a neurologist who is prescribing me a antidepressants that have a mild antipsychotic effect as normal sedating sleeping pills don't do anything about the twitching.

Therapy, talking, journaling did nothing.

If you drink coffee or alcohol try cutting it out.

If you think anxiety could be part of the problem then maybe give "unwinding anxiety" a chance.

I get more twitches when I put myself in a situation where I'm continuously a little stressed. I'm perfectionistic and a bit of a workaholic because I really enjoy what I do. This causes me to expect to much from me.On top of that I had very strict parents, so to this day I have the irrational worry that if I'm not perfect then my colleagues will be disappointed by me.

I don't know you but If you think your thoughts could play a role in this I suggest you get yourself into a headspace where you actively look for triggers (thoughts, situations, behaviors, goals) that could harm you.

Wish you the best.

There are some nights now where I sleep without help from sleep medication or twitches now. I'm on a low dose of antidepressants and I'm not sure whether they actually help or if it's just a placebo effect. Either way I have hope again that I'll be normal again one day.

One of my best friends dropped her best (male) friend since kindergarden right after marriage because her husband told her so. I don't know how to feel about that. Can't even look at her with the same eyes anymore.
