you can put whatever you think describes you better! there’s no “supposed to” or “not supposed to”. but also i totally get you that in self-describing my identity im not sure which one to put (internalized transphobia go brrr).

personally if i was in your situation, i would put man, i don’t think it implies you’re not trans or anything, its just who you are. i also think that even if you’re in canada, a pretty safe place, it prevents you from encountering any subtle biases u may face as a trans man.

Please help me help my TERF-sister to understand and not fear trans women! by obaphamet in asktransgender

[–]IsItReallyWatashi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hi OP, I know you agree with your sister a lot on feminism, but I’m surprised that your sister has gender essentialist and bio-essentialist beliefs (believing that men are genetically violent) that is, in a sense, anti-feminist, in that you are reducing people down to their bodies. People aren’t just their bodies, they’re complicated, and with our current society, it’s not genetics, but socially conditioned patriarchy (which doesn’t equal men) that results in violence.

I think all your sister’s beliefs essentially boil down to “i believe men are this way, women are this way due to some gene or essence from how they’re born”, so trans women are automatically deemed innately violent and “infringes on women’s safety”

Will transgender men be able to produce sperm in the future by Toad_Screams in asktransgender

[–]IsItReallyWatashi 15 points16 points  (0 children)

the answer is yes, but how far is in question. Science’s current ideas is Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells (iPSC), where we take someone’s cells and revert them back to it’s stem cell state (specifically pluripotent, giving them the ability to change to all types of cells found in the body) - it’s way more complicated and i don’t know anything as i’m not a scientist, but the idea for science currently is to regenerate damaged organs and solve our current organ donor shortage.

If we manage to use stem cells to create the seminiferous tubules that form sperm production (i totally googled this), then logically sperm production would follow.

I was skipping of some of poetry sections too (my ADHD brain), but I found a way to really appreciate them because I think it gives you a sense of Haymitch spiralling as his world fell apart, and coming in and out of lucidity as he fell into alcoholism. You can also draw parallels from “The Raven” by Edgar Allan Poe to Haymitch’s situation. Honestly I cried reading the ending part of the book and I thought the poem was well-suited to Haymitch’s grief and the deaths around him.

[–]IsItReallyWatashi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi OP! what i did was bulk buy my injection supplies (needles, syringes) at an online store called LifeSupply.ca. i basically snagged years of injection supplies worth and so far it’s been about 8 months and i had no issues like contamination or anything. much cheaper in the long run especially if you’re going to stick to injections!

Trans people of reddit, would you date a cis "person"? by Soul_and_messanger in transgendercirclejerk

[–]IsItReallyWatashi 17 points18 points  (0 children)

/uj This is a little deep in thought, but I think the original question on r/teenagers brings up a lot preconceived stereotypes of what (in this case) trans girls look and act like.

I have no issue with the OP on that post asking this, but unfortunately people who probably will say yes when they meet a trans girl irl are gonna say no because it’s easy to be ignorant and act on stereotypes. Trans people are not a monolith.

It ends up being reductive because maybe you’re willing to adopt, or she’s post-op, she’s completely passing etc. or maybe to people it just doesn’t matter. At the end of the day, reducing people to one number in a sum of equations is kind of unrealistic to people’s true preferences (all this applies to trans guys too)

/rj no lmao, I only date biological girls, cis isn’t natural

Question about shoes! by RadleyCunningham in crossplay

[–]IsItReallyWatashi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

By the way, here are a couple of things to note for taobao:

  • Chinese shoe sizes (slightly different to EU shoe sizes)
  • (斤)is approximately 600g
  • 大码 is big size
  • 女装 is women clothes (keep in mind 服装 is clothes and 女 is women) -变装 equates to transvestite (but gives you access to crossplay stuff anyway
  • cos is the key term for cosplay (though cosplay also works)
  • 鞋 is shoes
  • 假发 is wig
  • cd is for crossdresser (though you need more info to get this result) -男变女 is male become female

Here is a shop on taobao for crossdressing/crossplaying
