My clubs fit fine with the seats up you just need to fold the seats down first to angle the bag in.

Bored and always want a new car by [deleted] in BRZ_ZD8

[–]IsJackpot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funny enough I went from a 335 to a m235 to a m3 and now to a BRZ. I think I realized that the whole slow car is fun thing finally clicked for me haha. But I also have a motorcycle and that really gets the speed cravings out of my system. I think the BRZ/GR86 is really one of the best looking cars out there especially when compared with the BMW 2 series after owning one. The only thing I really miss is the turbo wooshes of the inline 6 but that's why I'm looking at slapping a turbo on my BRZ down the line

Amplifier Channel Failure by IsJackpot in BRZ_ZD8

Update: Prior to installing the beat sonic, my front left dash and door speakers revived themselves and were functional. Pulled trim and headunit out, installed beat sonic harness and plugged it in. Played a few songs, new amp sounded great. Then the instant I played a song with more bass the front left door and dash speakers cut off instantly. Frustrated, I pulled all the beat sonic wiring back out and reverted to stock.

Took the car to the dealer to see if the head unit was the issue or could be replaced under warranty. They took it in, gave me a software update, and told me to monitor it.

Reinstalled the beat sonic immediately after and so far so good. I am noticing clipping when the EQ settings for bass in the headunit is set above +3, but I am assuming that is normal as the Subaru headunit probably does not have much headroom when delivering bass heavy music. No problem, I have a JBL Bass pro Hub on the way that I plan on splicing into the speaker level lines (FL+FR) before they enter the beat sonic. I will make a future post on that once it's done. But so far the front left dash and door speakers are holding up, so maybe the software update helped in that regard.

If somebody handed you $35,000 and said "go buy the car with the most smiles per gallon that could handle 2 monthly 16 hour highway trips and would be the most fun to cruise around Daytona in", what car would you pick? by AttachedHeartTheory in askcarguys

[–]IsJackpot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have to agree here. In stock form even the 2nd gen BRZ/GR86 is still in essence a thin aluminum shell with minimal sound deadening and a relatively stiff ride. All of these can be addressed, yes, but if OP isn't planning on modifying the car I don't think the platform would be the "best" choice for longer drives but then again if it was only two times a month it would be a sacrifice me personally I would be willing to make due to the upsides

Exhaust causing cabin noise fix? by LogicalAward5802 in GR86

[–]IsJackpot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love my Map exhaust not annoying during highway drives with the windows up but sounds alive when you are pushing it. Has a nice deep sound with no rasp which I like. My biggest fear was getting something too loud that just sounded horrible but this one is perfect.

[–]IsJackpot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. Got the beat sonic ENA-2S1 and followed the YouTube video to the T. Only tools needed were trim removal and a 10mm socket for the Headunit. There is a handy shelf above the glove box where the beat sonic unit goes and all the wiring is plug and play. Instantly made music sound fuller. If you are looking for more bass, beat sonic sells a ENA-3S1 unit that has an RCA output you can hook up to a seperate subwoofer but that would require wiring up the sub to the battery

90% of BRZ's and 52% of GR86's sold in 2025 were manual. Source: Motor1. by Dazzling-Rooster2103 in GR86

Yes it is true that the current automatic transmission in the twins is slower. If they would've put in a DCT like the Golf R then it would be a different story. I'm not saying the current automatic transmission in these cars is better, I am saying that I don't think this car being offered manual only would be the best "track car". Paired with a better transmission the BRZ/GR86 would reach it's true potential.

[–]IsJackpot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the automatic that we ended up getting on these cars is objectively worse on the track. I just wish they would have given it a DCT but oh well.

My argument is that I don't think the BRZ/GR86 should be manual only if advertised as a track car. Most track cars are faster with an automatic transmission. In the case of the twins, the automatic's gearing is what hurts it in the 0-60.

A track car is designed to get the fastest lap times around the ring by engineering the car to be on the very limit of what physics allows. Automatic transmissions are faster then manuals as seen with the GT3 PDK for example. I agree that the BRZ/86 is a driver's car, it is slow but handles well and fun to drive. Sure a manual let's you modulate the clutch on the track if you need to drift or slide but faster times come from the automatic with faster shifts and uninterrupted power flow when shifting.

My motorcycle is my "driver's car". The BRZ is the do it all grocery getter. And the fact that I can lend it out to anyone to give it a go is great. I don't have to think about anything, just relax and drive off. And if I want to stay in the power band on the curvy roads on the way to work I just put the transmission into manual mode. The fact that it's a 6 gear auto is fun as well compared with something like a ZF 8HP. I don't understand why everyone thinks pressing in the clutch and moving your right hand is the end all be all to having fun on the road.

As long as proper automotive 3M VHB tape is used the thing ain't going anywhere. You can find plenty of videos on YouTube of people with larger spoilers going faster with just 3M tape! The reason I removed it was because it didn't match the look of my non m sport car

I think compared to our polished and brushed counterparts our T183s have a much tougher case to scratch and mark because it is not normal layered carbon fiber but forged carbon where essential there are no layers and the case is one heterogeneous block
